More of a question. Why can't it fly???

You can combine these with a regular tek parasaur breeding farm to make the ultimate resource farm

I got jumpscared by one of the mantis and I lost my wyvern I was crying

if you are trying to get eggs, they need to be left on areas of the map marked as “wilderness”. on the island its herb island. on ragnarok its the area by the hidden scar where the sand and grass meet.

These can be grappled so the easiest way to tame once you’ve acquired the horns is to go to the Ragnarok Highlands North and search the black coast for a high level. Use your grapple to grapple it and drag it into the water where it will deagro and you can feed it easily. Happy hunting survivors. 🦗

Use bug repellent to get close to tame

This thing is like the Chuck Norris of gathering. It can literally gather anything really good

These are master of resource gathering. like avatar but master of all resources

If you see it and are landing on a flying mount land somewhere else that are fast and can jump at you also a lot of times they are with other things like spiders and centipedes so look out for other things if your going to tame.

Dont me on lost island. Found lvl 90 Mantis and beat it with a club, realize it was a passive tame after knocking the hell out of the bug.

Farm chitin by killing these guys. Simply kill the mantis then use a sword on its corpse. You will be amazed.

Use a megatherium to kill death worms (when they have the insect buff they get a 350% mele buff to insects <death-worms are insects> and take reduced damage) use a full ghille suite and bug spray when taming and have a tribe mate hold a mantis low to the ground with a wyvern while feeding. Fast and easy. Put the horns in taming slot…Walk up and feed then run out of agro until it’s ready to eat again and you have a new pet.

These guys are very good at harvesting metal if you have one with decent weight as you can hold the mining drill while riding one (somehow) but yoy can mine metal with their pickaxes and transfer the metal onto your character

You need bug repellent, and a ghille suit to tame them than you crouch and sneak up behind it with a death worm/rhino horn in your last item slot and press Y on Xbox and E on pc

This creature is in the top 5 dinos for harvesting in 16 different categories and ranks high in several others

Can get more hide then a few 5 stars like the direwolf and sabertooth with a metal hatchet in its hand even tho the wiki says it's only a 4 star.

On gen 2 if you put swords in its hands it Collect sap. From the yellow trees.

We got two mantis by a lava lake and gave them decent swords as the rest of the tribe watched

I went onto the high ground and he went to the low ground with the lava in between us

he leaped to wards me and I sliced but missed cause he got deflected off the rock and then fell into the lava

Then we had to get him a fjordhawk to grab his stuff but eh it was pretty entertaining especially as he cried in agony at the loss of his stuff when I said the last lines

Fjourder now has dead death worms in the volcano area, and you can harvest their horns, in the oil deltas!

In Crystal Isles they are awesome with a HATCHET at mining element shards! I was shocked when I saw how much ele i was missing by using a pick Axe with the mantis.
