Stories Tips
What are some stories about the manta? Memorable manta stories, wild encounters, and fan fiction.
These things are flat out demons that will show up at the stupidest and the worst times. I was on crystal isles and in a weird location near about three other biomes so the spawns were pretty wacky, and one day I had boated across the lake near my base to check out the other side and unfortunately I got ambushed by a pack of hyenadons and when I respawned on my boat bed they just killed me again and I had to swim back across to go get my stuff, which I did with no trouble at all, no mantas in sight, just a cute icthy. The problem now was that I had a pack of hyenas camping on my boat with a few on the shore, so I snuck up on one of the hyenas on the shore to attack it but then I saw the option to pet it, which I did until it tamed which took me by surprise since I'm definitely still a Noob when it comes to Ark. I named him Henry and had him sit there as I lured away the other hyenas before running back to my boat. Unfortunately I couldn't get Henry to climb up on the boat with me so I opted to paddle slowly and just have him follow me back home since when I swam there myself it was safe, so it must still be safe right? WRONG! Everything was going fine and Henry was only a few feet away from the shore as I was parking my boat and suddenly at the top if the screen I saw in hellish red "Your Henry (Lvl 37) was killed by a wild Manta (Lvl 12)" and I mentally screamed. I eventually got a Sacro later on and took her to maul that jerk that killed Henry, but I'm still determined to kill every manta I see now after that.
It seems chapter four probably won’t post, so I’ll give a summary.
The main character explores the realm of the light, a place made of marble, gold and all that. Then, “The Light” wants to meet the main character where it then explains that humans can’t usually wield weapons of light and void well, and training is required. The Light then says that the first light, the original ruler said that a human would wield her blade, so The Light takes the main character to the blade. The main character then proceeds to attempt to pull the sword out of marble that is shaped like a rock. The sword comes out, and the lightborne were also watching, interested. Then the main character was assigned a room and training sessions. That’s everything that happened.

Chapter 1 “Beginnings”
I woke up, got out of bed. I headed towards the mines. I knew the tribe needed more metal, and it would be good to start getting some.
“Hey!” I heard a voice behind me. I turned around, and saw my friend, Keith.
“Hello. I was gonna go to the mines and get some metal for the tribe.” I said
“It’s a bit dangerous down there, don’t you think? Anyways, goodluck. I was assigned to tame some creatures since there’s been some new people.” Keith said.
“Got it. I’ll see you later, Keith.” I said. I was in a bit of a rush, you could say.
“See you too, John.” Keith said, before leaving. I realized I forgot to grab my equipment, so I left to do that. A little bit later, I came back, prepared. Sword sheathed, pickaxe in my hands, ready to mine. I went down into the mines. It took a little while to get to metal and other ores, but I was able to do it. I started to mine some iron, with a minecart right behind me to put the ores in.
* * *
It was a little bit later, but I had mined a lot. I decided to go deeper instead of depositing, which may have been the wrong move. Once I had made it deeper, I was about to mine something but then, I heard something calling me. Who could it be? I turned around, nothing to be seen.
“Come… closer.” I heard it say.
“Want to… help.” It said again. I stood there, for about 5 seconds straight and then decided to follow the voice.
“Deeper…” It said. I went deeper, leaving the minecart and my pick axe behind. I unsheathed my sword, just in case something were to attack me.
“Why have you… unsheathed your weapon?” It asked me. How did it see me? I didn’t respond, but I went deeper. These caves go very, very deep. I felt that I wanted to turn back, but something was pulling me forward, keeping me from turning back. I don’t even know how deep I am in the mines, but it didn’t matter, or did it?
“Stop.” The voice said. Suddenly, the stone floor cracked and I fell through it. I landed on more stone, and it wasn’t a very long drop either. I looked up, and I could definitely get out of here. I looked around my surroundings, and all I saw was that I am in a small room, with a dark colored liquid surrounding it.
“You’ve ventured far enough.” It said.
“What do you mean?” I replied.
“You are a foolish one to come down to MY LAIR!” It bellowed. Suddenly, a large, dark shape rose from the dark liquid. It had a meaty body and long, thin arms. The fingers looked sharp enough to cut a rex up in less than 5 seconds. It had a decently sized head for its body. I could see horns curving upwards from both sides of the creatures head. The eyes were the only part that wasn’t a black color. I looked it in the eyes, and drew my blade.
“Ah, you think YOU CAN FIGHT ME?” It said, doubting me.
“Maybe I could!” I said.
“I AM THE VOID, LITTLE ONE! YOU CANT DEFEAT ME!” It bellowed. Suddenly, many dark, humanoid shapes rose from the dark liquid. What did this thing call itself, The Void? That sounded ominous, but it doesn’t matter right now. My life is in danger and if I don’t do something, I could die.
“My Voidborne will kill you, foolish one. You cannot escape!” It said. Suddenly, the dark humanoid shapes ran at me. He had called these “Voidborne.” I looked up, and I jumped. I barely grabbed the edge of the stone. I quickly climbed up and ran. The Voidborne were there, and they were chasing me! I threw my sword at it, almost phasing through it. I ran as fast as I could, watching out for anything dangerous or anything that could trip me. I got higher and higher, and the voidborne were still chasing. Eventually I got to the mine cart. I pushed it at the voidborne with great force. It hit the voidborne and pushed them back. I ran to the exit of the mines, hoping I had escaped.

Chapter 4 “Realm of Light”
I had been taken to the realm of the lightborne, and it looks magnificent, as if it were for a god. Clouds filled areas where you could probably fall off, and the floor and pillars, and almost everything here was made of marble or other grand materials. We were told to go to a training area, perhaps to be armed with light weapons. As I was about to go, a lightborne spoke to me.
“You, come with me. The Light wants to see you.” The lightborne said. I followed the lightborne, traveling through pretty and grand areas, until eventually we had made it to the throne room. The throne room was the most grand thing I had ever seen, a silver seat above normal height, and marble and gold pillars reaching into the sky. I looked at what sat on the throne, and the Light sat there. The Light had no arms, but instead huge wings. It had the body of a Minotaur, and the legs of an insect.
“I have been expecting you.” The Light said, its voice was loud enough to hear, but not ear-piercing or too quiet.
“Do you know why you are here?” The Light asked.
“No.” I replied.
“I watched you pick up the blade of a fallen lightborne, and bravely face the void. Humans do not wield weapons of light or void well, and must go through training. Perhaps you are the one we have been waiting for.” The Light said.
“What do you mean I might be the one?” I asked, confused.
“The first Light, the first leader here, she was on the verge of death. But, she could foresee strange things, and her final words were “A human… One who will wield the light, it will wield my blade.”” The Light said.
“Would you like to try to pull the sword, or go to training with your people.” The Light asked, curious as to what I would say.
“I will pull the sword.” I said, confidently. The Light stood, with its long insect-like legs. The Light flew, but only fast enough for me to keep up. Eventually, we got to a spot. A statue stood there, with light shining brightly in what must be the sword. The sword was stuck, deeply in a rock shaped form of gold.
“Now, you must gather your strength, and pull.” The Light told me. I walked up to the sword, and gripped the handle. I took a breath, and I pulled. Nothing happened. I put more strength in. Still nothing, this sword must require lots of strength to pull. I put more and more strength in, until eventually the sword came out by a little bit. I could see a little bit of the blade itself. I was almost there, I just had to pull a little bit harder. I could feel my strength getting stronger, and then the sword came out. The sword had kept me in my place, instead of launching me backwards. I lifted the sword, and examined it. The sword was shining brightly. It looked to have special design, being made of light, gold, silver, and what seemed like many more valuable things.
“You are the one she had spoken about. That sword was her blade, and it has great power. You must learn to wield it, so you must train with it.” The Light announced. I just now noticed there was many lightborne, looking at me surprised that I had pulled the blade. I was ready to train, and it would begin now.

Chapter 3 “The Lightborne”
We had made it to the mountain, and we did not expect to see voidborne attacking the mountain tribe. I sprinted into the battle, launching arrows at the voidborne. I noticed my arrows weren’t doing too much damage, but it could kill a voidborne if I hit them enough. There were more and more voidborne, and this fight seemed impossible to fight at this point. Suddenly, there was flash of light, and then bright, humanoid shapes with wings darted around fighting the voidborne. The voidborne died instantly from the weapons that the strange light things used. Eventually, all of the voidborne had been defeated. The light creatures came up to us, and started to speak.
“That was only a small amount of voidborne, but you humans do not wield weapons of light like we do.” One of them said.
“Who are you?” I calmly asked.
“We are the lightborne, enemies of voidborne. We have had lots of conflict lately, much more than usual. We do not come here usually, but the void has come here so we must follow it.” The lightborne replied. I could see the tribe leader of the mountain tribe speaking with a lightborne, so I walked up to them.
“How can we trust you exactly?” Said the mountain tribe leader. I patiently waited for their conversation to end, and eventually the tribe leader turned to me.
“What is it you want?” He said.
“I’m from forest tribe. There’s voidborne, and it’s been requested we make an alliance will every tribe. We were to come here and form an alliance with your tribe.” I said.
“These voidborne are very strong, so maybe it would be a good decision.” The tribe leader said. He stood there, thinking about the alliance. Finally, he agreed to it.
“Come with us, we will get you to safety.” A lightborne told us. Suddenly, voidborne came up from the ground.
“Voidborne!” Somebody yelled. A voidborne killed the lightborne that had told us to come with it, and I took the chance to take its weapon. I stabbed the voidborne, and it dissolved instantly. I dashed towards another voidborne, cutting it in half. There was a huge wave of voidborne, so this fight was gonna be long. I saw a huge voidborne, and it looked at me and roared. It then charged at me, almost hitting me as I leapt out of the way. The voidborne beast had stopped and stood there catching its breath. I charged at it, jumping on to it and stabbing it in the back. The voidborne beast dissolved instantly like the two other voidborne. I noticed the lightborne weren’t darting around anymore, and now they were fighting normally. Two voidborne came at me, one attempting to hit me with its sword. I parried their blade, and I felt something push me away. The other voidborne kicked me a few feet, and then it proceeded to charge at me. I stabbed it, and dashed to the other one and finally finished it. There weren’t anymore voidborne now, had we defeated them all?
“We must get out of here, now!” A lightborne said. Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and I was in a a shiny area, with clouds and pillars made of marble.

Chapter 2 “Allies”
I had escaped from the mines, but mainly from the voidborne. I had to tell the tribe leader about this, so that the mines could be closed off to prevent death by Voidborne. I got the Tribe leader’s house, and I knocked. The door opened, and the tribe leader stood there, confused.
“Why have you come at such an early time?” He asked.
“The mines, it’s not safe.” I said
“There’s these things, voidborne. Completely black, come from an entity that calls itself “The Void.” I said.
“So the rumors are true.” The tribe leader said.
“I was told to get everyone to ally, because the Void is strong and we must work together. I will close off the mines, I will get teams to go out and tell people about this and we will become ally with every tribe.” The tribe leader said.
“Luckily none of them are at war, so the only danger is getting to them.” I said.
* * *
There was multiple teams ready, and I was on one of them. My team was to become allies with the mountain tribe. Our trek started in the lush green forest, and then through stone valley, a very dangerous place. Stone valley was around the middle of this huge island. The green forest is a friendly area with dodos and sorts of prey. There’s surprisingly not many predators, but most of those are in stone valley. My team of four people decided as a group we should hunt and get some food, then go forward. Everyone had come prepared, and I came with a bow and quiver. I found a dodo, so I pulled an arrow and in a few seconds had it notched. I fired the arrow at the dodo, piercing its head, killing it. Eventually, everyone came back to where we split up and we then made a campfire to cook our food. A little bit later we had eaten what we had hunted, and we moved on. We made it out of the green forest, and we were now entering stone valley. Stone valley is a huge area on the island, mainly in the middle. It has lots of predators, and the predators feed of off other predators and prey. Everyone was on high alert, and ready for anything to attack. Throughout the trek, a few packs of raptors and compies has attacked. The predators only got to the size of a raptor, and no bigger. Eventually we had made it to the mountain the tribe was at, and now all we needed to do was warn them about the voidborne.
People who say that taming mantas are hard, I got a tip, just tame an icthyasarus! You have the option to feed the manta on the icthy and it won’t aggro on you because mantas are not aggressive toward the icthy, tamed a level 26 manta by using this, and there is no bug repellent involved in this method.Up if you try this on your map and say how it went!
Once upon a time children, I lived in a small wooden cottage next to a river. I knew this river contained at least one of the majestic beats, so I preferred to get my water from the sea so as not to anger a horde of these sea flap-flaps. Now, on one fine morning, I had decided that I wanted a dolphin. As I walked across the river to find some fish to spear, I saw one of these on a rock, like not in the water or on land, but just flying. Into. A. Rock.
