Ark devs make this thing less OP, passive, and just easier to tame. I tried to tame itchy and it killed me. Do not encounter at all not even at hight lv like 47

This thing will attack you through armor. I got my 500 armor and 700 durability FLAK CHESTPLATE rekt by this little son of a.... Basically armor doesn't work against this creature, might as well kill it.

I recommend using four metal Dino gates, with 2 gate doors, wade in manta waters and lure one into the trap to prevent them from wandering anywhere… I’ve tamed every single one of my mantas in crystals isles near eldritch isles with utmost ease…especially during events with 2x or 3x ~ Ghost

Ironically called the "Manta", you would think it would be harmless. You'd be wrong. Where there is one, they'll often be other nearby.

These water pancakes should be fed angler gel while riding an ichty because they will attack anything else except an ichty. They do surpringly high damage so be careful if you dismount.

Never enter waters which are infested by them if you are not riding an ichty or wearing bug spray as they will kill you as they usually move in packs. Oh and they eat eals

Tame it on an icthy, it won’t attack you that way

When taming place a stone foundations with doorframes on all sides except for one in the water with doorframes just under the water, aggro the manta in the spot and place a doorframe to lock it in. You can feed it while it aggro to a wall for safe taming.

Beware they are evil they killed my wyvern lesson learned stay high never run out of stam

They aren’t super useful on most maps but they are very useful on the Valguero map because Valguero’s lakes are VERY dangerous.

I didn’t know they were aggressive until 50 of them came at me!!

They are very fast in water. They can outrun Megaladons and other things.

I found mine by a sea sausage around the Southern Islets. It was a relatively quick tame after the first feed. I had to save up for an outpost (25 amber) so I could make a scuba tank, but once I had it, there wasn’t much else to do but find one. I rode on Ran, my Baryonyx, and the manta never aggroed. It only took 9 or so angler gel for a level 27 (11% per feed). I brought her home and named her Anandimide. I’m kinda disappointed that you can’t pull out a map or spyglass from the back, but the speed and strength of the animal makes up for it.

So, they definitely aggro on an icthy, on console at least. And I was taming a basilo in the Abyss of Valg, didn’t feed it even once, just got close on my icthy, had 3 with me, the mantas aggro on my icthys, kill all three after I dismounted and then tried to defend myself with a mastercraft pike, got killed near the very top, like ceiling of the cave area. So I go back on my max level meg, no bag, no death beacon anywhere. Just dead manta bodies. So did my death make me glitch into the mesh of the ceiling? Would really love to get my 5 SCUBA tanks, brand new harpoon gun and that pike. Anybody else ever experience no death beacons in the underwater ocean of Valg?? Pls help.
