Tips & Strategies

What are tips for manta? Tips and strategies for manta in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
I found mine by a sea sausage around the Southern Islets. It was a relatively quick tame after the first feed. I had to save up for an outpost (25 amber) so I could make a scuba tank, but once I had it, there wasn’t much else to do but find one. I rode on Ran, my Baryonyx, and the manta never aggroed. It only took 9 or so angler gel for a level 27 (11% per feed). I brought her home and named her Anandimide. I’m kinda disappointed that you can’t pull out a map or spyglass from the back, but the speed and strength of the animal makes up for it.
So, they definitely aggro on an icthy, on console at least. And I was taming a basilo in the Abyss of Valg, didn’t feed it even once, just got close on my icthy, had 3 with me, the mantas aggro on my icthys, kill all three after I dismounted and then tried to defend myself with a mastercraft pike, got killed near the very top, like ceiling of the cave area. So I go back on my max level meg, no bag, no death beacon anywhere. Just dead manta bodies. So did my death make me glitch into the mesh of the ceiling? Would really love to get my 5 SCUBA tanks, brand new harpoon gun and that pike. Anybody else ever experience no death beacons in the underwater ocean of Valg?? Pls help.

For anybody that doesn’t know about Achatinas, they are the answer to your angler gel needs, just get a high dmg raptor or Caron find one, and kill it with the extra attack you get more angler gel.
Dont tame them close to a megalodon the meg does not like them and kills them all the time over and over again. I learnt from experience on my first go.
AnglerMeat boii
Hiw to tame one:
1. Don't bring tranq arrows or narcotics coz they passive tame
2. They prefer AnglerGel (can be obtained by harvesting dead anglers or achatinas)
3. Ride am Itchthy to tame while not being attacked or lead it to shallow water then feed it the AnglerGels.
4. Now you have a Manta! Tamed ones only eat meat or fish meat and are pretty fast btw.
They are aggressive. My moschops and I were seriously killed by two mantas and Cnidaria
It is a passive tame but it will kill you and eat you if it sees you
They can jump out of water, which is useful to jump between rivers, but beware, if they jump on land, they will lose lots of health, very rapidly.
Not worth taming, these guys deal decent damage, average only on land, best for daily rewards only. Best way to kill a school of these is to use spino, easy fish meat too.
It's actually easy to tame, just stay in the water with it and keep swimming away from it (on a passive water mount) and just keep circling round it and feeding. Don't go near the shore tho no matter what
Build a 1x1 stone hut under water swim out the door then back in they cant get in but the will try and get stuck at the door
Tamed up a couple easy jut try to find a ledge in water get it stuck on ledge
If you see one of those, you will see his family in any second. Even if they have a low lvl, their damage are insanly high
On PC: no longer grabbed by Karpo, no longer can be fed while on Ichtyo (prompt does not appear). They also aggro on Ichtyo.
Pelagornis was my way to tame the thing: after feeding flee as fast as you can.
Masstame 150's til you got 50 of them, use them together with a swarm of 25 eels backed up by mateboosted basils, mosas and tusos.
Absolutely insane, ofc have them covered by some tek and heavies set on players only.
Have them all following a passive tame on low distance (could be an angler), and have them set on attack-my-target, and aggro range high.
Have a trapped tame as scout on aggressive and aggro range high, when it aggro towards any dinos or players, it will send the whole force to kill and stun the target, when target is out of range or dead, they will come back to base.
So this worked out fine for me but it may not for you so just make a box in the water make the manta agro on the box and it should attempt to destroy it and then you can tame it this is it
These guys are mega underrated, especially in packs because they attack so quickly. 8 of them killed my level 88 basilo with 17k health in a matter of seconds 😳
I don't know if it's just for me but when I tried taming a few the intervals to feed it where more than it actually said
Its fun to rid them.Put points into movement speed and you have a fast water mount.
You can passive tame them like dung beetles.Make sure to have an Ichthyosaurus or use bug repellant when you tame them or they will aggro on you.
They have a slower attack rate but does kinda decent damage.
They are a huge pain in the a**
while taming underwater creatures.
