Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a mammoth? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a mammoth.
They aren't extremely fast and are easily outrun, so just shoot it with a crossbow using tranq arrows and turn around and runa. Few steps when it gets too close. ( may be best to take out any other mammoths before attempting to tame )
If you see one near a body of water get a aquatic animal and start shooting it with tranq arrows/darts while your in the water stay away from the land or the mammoth will try to attack you if your not on land then it won’t noticeonce it’s knocked feed it
Playing on Genesis in the Arctic biome, and I built me a simple 3x3 trap out of stone foundations, stone stairs converted into ramps, and stone doorways. It might not want to get up the ramp, initially, and it's kinda slow, but it does hit hard, if you're just in fur. This one was lv90. Gonna try starve taming. But yeah, once it's in there, just keep popping it in the head with tranqs. It's big ol fat head sticks out above the trap, so you shouldn't have a problem with headshots. Hope this helps.
Idiots who say useless now on Wood on PC use Spacebar
The numbers are wrong on how much kibble it will take. Bring extra
I just tamed a couple days ago and let me just say they are best wood gatherer there is like the more wood there in its inventory the less weights it gets.
Must tame your life depends on it
PS: get doed for stone, Anky for metal, mammoth for wood
Doed can be carried by argh right next to some stone and it auto harvest
me tryna trap one and failing and building new ones with the mammoth watching me
If u find them on the border of the snow on the west carefull as loads of rexes and raptors and other fatal mobs spawn there
Build a raft with about 9 or so foundations/ ceiling and put Walls on the perimeter and ramps in the front and put large storage boxes along the walls and go to the swamp with a buddy and just sit on the mammoth on the front of the raft and swing away. Best wood/thatch/shroom farm ever
Build to 8 pillars high. Then place a ceiling and extend 1 or 2 catwalks in the direction of your choosing. Then you can just do a little tomfoolery and start shooting it from there, though be sure to clear out the area first. Works with both taming and killing them.

Use the same trap as a allo then you could just knock it out
You’ll probably only need this tame for wood cause in my opinion it’s pretty useless but to tame it what I did was let it hit my blood wyvern while I shot tranq arrows at it and it was out in under 2 minutes.
Tame on the outskirts of the winter biome close to the ocean, there’s more visibility and you only have to watch for threats from one direction. Helpful because these guys take a long time to tame and everything in the winter biome is aggressive to them!
Im so stupid i can't believe stimberry hurt the fking mammoth just lost 2 levels by doing it.
My tip is using a wyvern, agroing it and then jump up on the back of the whyvern ( not ride ) and then shoot the mamoth wich will be stck in your wyvern.
To the person that said we got Manny and Diego now just need sid we have him he is the megatherium aka. The sloth XD
I tamed a level 40 mammoth, no cheats/tame boost on settings. It ate 100 mejoberry (it said 250 on here) but I needed 102 because spoil times a bummer. It also took 7 narcotics not 76 like it said here. Unfortunately didn't pay attention to how many tranq arrows it took. Hope this helps :)
It is the best gathering resources creature after the theri it's good at gathering berries and thatch and great at gathering wood sadly it cant gather fiber
Good for wood and weight
14 kibble only half tamed on official for a 150
