Use tranq arrows. It may sound dumb, but their torpor is way lower than their health. I got an egg by just knocking out three of them and teleporting away. WARNING: their torpor drains VERY fast, so you need to keep tranquilizing them while their asleep, or kill them while their knocked out.

When raising the magmasaur the food drain rate is 720 food every hour and you can’t feed it cause it doesn’t hold 5 weight until it runs out of food and starts to drain health on consoles. 1 food is good for about 500 food value. This is all on 1x

I just went in grab the egg go out as quickly as possible.

Stealing an egg there’s two easy methods:

1. Find an egg with no magmasaurs within regular aggro range. Stand next to it and teleport away via HLNA. Whenever the haxagon walls of the bubble are about to reach the top, take the egg and you will be safely teleport out.

2. Get a Bloodstalker. Jump up high and slowly drift down using control (PC)/LB + RB (Xbox)/ L1 + R1 (PS) until you can see an egg, any egg. Once you’ve found one, release the drifting button(s) and get off of the Bloodstalker, take the egg, get back on the Bloodstalker and grapple to a high up point, you will be out of range of the magmasaurs and you can then safely escape.

To hatch the egg you will need 20 standing torches for it to hatch in any weather (not sure about Arctic zones). You will need to feed the baby Ambergris which can be acquired through mining the rocks with green glowing veins in them in the Lunar biome with a pickaxe or mining drill or anky. The Bloodstalker is very useful for traversing the Lunar biome. You can also get mastercraft Magmasaur saddles at a decent rate from the Bottle Nosed Blitz mission, which is very easy, even on alpha. These things are the best metal gatherers I don’t care what the wiki says. Mine gets like 400 per metal node while my anky gets around 120

To easily steal it’s egg on lost island I suggest using a maewing, you have to have the balls though. Get on your maewing and glide into the cave (suggest to scout out a bit first) then just glide him near the egg, jump off, grab the egg, ride it again and get the hell out of there

Walking talking forge and swims through lava

If you are planning on doing a hunt use the magma with a acendent saddle if you do not have one go to the bogbeatdown mission on gamma (obviously in the bog) and you can get one very easily also remember to grab alot of ambergriss because it heals massive amounts of health per piece with no cool down. These things DON'T TAKE ANY DAMAGE FROM THE DRAGONS BREATH. If you'd use a rex army or something, they'd die. But idk how well it works, an army of these might wreck the dragon

Baby Magmasaurs will only eat Ambergris, mine it from the lunar biome.
