You’re good if it’s eating something else in the swamp. Tamed one early game like this. But if you don’t have tranqs, it’s probably better you run.

Do Not try to knock someone off a wyvern or mana. unless ur on higher elevation you will hit their chest and die.

No fair play here! There was no warning, me and my tribe mate were getting some exclusive swampy items with our igunadon when it lunged at my buddy, knocked him off his mount and then ate our igunadon! DO NOT EXPECT A WARNING WHEN DEALING WITH THESE DINOS!!!!

Seen many a tip on how to tame a low level kapro, so here's a definitive, in-depth guide on taming your very own high level bayou death-machine. Plus some other useful tidbits.

Process below should work for all the maps they spawn in. Saddle engram unlocked at player lvl 39

First, materials.

- You will need a spyglass for scouting out higher levels. You could go without it, but flying up to groups of kapros to check their levels is just needlessly risky and terrifying. Sarcos may jump but they don't even come close to jumping like these do. Spare yourself the heart attack. Make the spyglass.

- Longneck rifle and tranq darts or a crossbow and tranq arrows. Primitive/engram grade will work but higher qualities obtained from supply crates, caves, and killing alphas work way better for knockouts. Quicker KO, and less ammo spent. But, as always bring extra supplies just to be safe.

- Sidearm like a sword, pike, shotgun, etc. to clean up or fend off the immediate area's other aggressive nasties once your kapro is down so you can tame in peace.

- Five or more spike walls for a quick safety barrier to wait out the taming process in.

When wild they don't seem to have any natural predators. If so they have very, very few. So the barrier is for player peace of mind more than anything else.

- And lastly, taming food. Regular kibble, and/or raw mutton works best. Or Tapejara kibble, and/or raw prime meat if you're on mobile.

Scout out your beefy kapro of choice and (important) *aggro them from a distance while standing on a tall rock or steep terrain. The steeper the better.

||**I do not recommend going hand to hand with high level leaping-swamp-dogs. Surefire way to lose your hard earned gear and weaker tames coming to your aid or just by-standing the crime scene too closely.

They shred even good armor and dish out disrespectful amounts of damage with their lunge attacks. Especially they're grouped up. Stay up high, park dinos responsibly, and stay safe.||

Pepper 'em as they snap at you in frustration below your perch with tranqs until they fall into torpor. With higher grade weapons this should only take a few shots. Especially if the shots hit their noggin. Their torpor drain is quite slow so no need to worry about them waking up before being tamed. Both wild and tamed Kapros don't have an Oxygen bar so no worries about them drowning either.

Assemble your spike wall barrier around them, pop your taming food into their inventory, and you're set.

Kapros make for amazing mounts and companions.

Especially on higher game difficulties.

And can be leveled into particularly vicious, loyal swamp terrors that easily rival dire wolves, fling themselves through the air at mach 6, and inflict stamina-sapping poison on whatever they hit with their lunge. Put levels into hp, a little stam 'n weight, and most importantly, melee. Spamming lunge effectively obliterates almost everything.

I highly recommend getting a breeding pair and breeding yourself an army. Their quick growth rates, ease of husbandry, and compact size make them perfect for those just getting into breeding lines or for the seasoned expert.

These chaotic little buggers only get better with mutations and imprint bonuses. Overall a fast, fun, and very rewarding creature to work with. Swamp dog is a 10/10. -Bog

These guys are pretty similar to raptors in terms of reflex time. If you're quick to react, you can avoid their jumps, and slowly pick away at their health. However, they are definitely not as fast as raptors, at least on land. If you come across one, head to the nearest land, and either book it and don't look back, or keep your face to it, moving backwards, with a projectile weapon of your choice.

When taming a Kapro take a pteranodon a sacrifice dodo and a Rex or allo. Go close to the ground throw the dodo and wile he is being killed jump on the rex or allo and kill the other low level kapros then trank your kapro tame him up and you have a kapro.

This guy will yeet you off the face of the earth by poisoning you.if you are low level NEVER go into a swamp because these guys live their.

If you get anywhere close to these guys have a sword better than primitive and at least hide armor and have a good damage dealer

U can aesy tame a low lv with a club 4 higher lvs I suggest trank darts and a trap the trap should look like this[ _] then when I make it follow u close the last side very quickly u can trap them club but u will get more bonus lv using tranks arrows or darts

Look for one then let it grab you you have to have high health when he grabs you shoot him with toxicant arrows using bows for faster fire. Use prime.

Don’t be scared, I’m level 70 and I pretty easily tamed one that was level 117 15 track darts should do the job

I was playing SE with my friend,2 jerboas,2 raptors and a new direwolf when the jerboas predicted a lightning storm so we built a storm shelter and afterwards my friend was riding around on the direwolf while the raptors were following her and she accidentally fell into the green obelisk tribute terminal area and we got swarmed by like 15 of these and one of the raptors got killed and the direwolf drowned and now my friend is sad

Don’t fly too low in the swamp.

They really Need a speed buff there really slow

(I’m on mobile so idk if this is the same for other devices, I am also a slightly new player). One day I was searching a swamp for a sarco to tame with my raptor and carbonemys, until one of these guys showed up. This dino kidnapped my raptor and ran off! While my carbonemys and I were off chasing it, a swarm of megapiranhas caught me. While trying to fight off the evil fish, I eventually died leaving my dinos. I respawned at my camp anxiously requesting my carbonemys. After my turtle was teleported to me, I requested my raptor. Unfortunately, I couldn’t request him because it said, “Cannot request when dino is being carried.” I rode on my iguanodon to get it back, but before I got there my raptor had died from the kaprosuchus. I tried my best to look for his implant but I couldn’t find it.

Be careful these guys can kidnap you or your dinos.

On mobile they can be bola’d, so bring an Equus and some lassos. Have your equus follow you. Stay to the edge of the swamp in a small building with windows. Wait. When one gets close, bola it, then quickly lasso it and bring it away from the swamp to K.O. (Equus can also be useful for this.). Easy safer method for taming one mid-game.

BOLAS WORK ON THE KAPROSUCHUS DODODEX IS WRONG! Bolas work on Kaprosuchus! They do! I have like 10 because of bola!
