You can trap these for a water source

Thirst is the reason from scorched earth why I kill every oil jug bug. The water ones are safe though

Jug bugs are fast and hard to kill with no dino's cuz they fly really fast

I noticed no one mentioned instead of forcetame you can summon a wild one into an already built building and it will be a trapped wild water or oil jug bug. You won't have to feed it and can constantly harvest water or oil. Whichever one you summon!

Raptors are extremely good at killing these almost as if they were ment to because the jump attack if used near a jug bug will make it so the raptors jump on it and it can’t escape

Is it just me or has anyone else seen water jug bugs on Fjordur I thought that only oil ones spawned on Fjordur.

I've only read about them but they seem like a decent sniper target/ oil/water farming bug.

How to trap make a large circle around it with behemoth gates and a large ceiling if u do not think that this work look in the more tab

To start off these guys are forcetame only.

1 they eat berries when tamed

2 they will still produce water/oil after being tamed

3 they can be leveled and become op, and yes if they are a high enough level you can tease your friend become he died from a passive bug

4 can be put in green house for a ascetic kind of feel

Still testing it out, but it looks like you can get extra oil by killing an oil jug bug (red abdomen), taking the oil from its inventory, THEN toggling “Collect Oil.” Works at least on the Switch :)

YOU can trap it,(oil jar bug)and have lost of oil.(Scortch Earth).up pls

If Force tamed, you can collect the Oil/Water, and can also be cryoed, higly recommend force taming, they're herbivores, so throwing 20-30 crops away or 10 simple kibble would make It more "legit" , take you rates and its level in account.

To the guy who said they should make a beer varianr, they should also make it to were if you sacrfice a corpse to a calico (or tamed one if we could have that,) one-three, boom tamed calico

On the PC ports there’s a button on your keyboard that’s above Tabs and below Escape, when in the actually game not in the menu you press it a black menu will open, this is the command console, Type in the command “Forcetame” exactly like that, close it by pressing the button twice walk up to a jugbug to where you are very close to where you can see its name and lvl open the console and press enter, And you’ve tamed yourself a jugbug, this is the only way to tame one and I’m pretty sure they’ll starve because you’re not supposed to be able to tame them but at least you have a water or oil source that regenerates over time, the Forcetame command can be used on everything except bosses and titans (maybe I’ve never tried) including other non tameable things such as ceolcanth, giant ants, etc Note: you may miss when using it I suggest using Ctrl C, Ctrl V to quickly rewrite it and that it leaves you vulnerable to attacks so if trying with aggressive dinosaurs/creatures ride a bulky tame since it still works while riding a creature

They’re really good in scorched earth as the water bugs bc you don’t need to build anything for water you just grab some stuff to tame him and bam free water to drink out of with him following or staying still or wandering! I think staying still? 🤔
