Utility Tips

What is a iguanodon used for? iguanodon battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
They are great traveling dinos, they have decent weight and they can fend off things like raptors, sabers, and maybe carnos and baryonxs if you level attack. They can turn berries into seeds, one berry=one seed, it's crazy. And they take up absolutely no stamina when they run on their quadruped stance, on all four legs, they only attack on bipedal stance though. Overall, great creature to make long trips, from beginning game to mid game. I suggest leveling speed and health, then weight afterwards. Theres no need for leveling attack if you can outrun pretty everything. Except gigas..........in that case, just stop, put head between your legs, and kiss your a$$ goodbye.
Absolute MUST HAVE, okay?! These things can be beasts if you know what to upgrade, and have a very high level. They are pretty fast (way faster than parasaurs) and they have two speeds (a trot and a sprint). They are veryyyyy easy to tame, such great starter herbivore. GET YOURSELF AN IGUANADON TODAY (all in my opinion btww)

These things are insanely fast! I'd been spending most of my time using my lvl 231 Raptor as my main scouting Dino, with a speed of 129%, but it can barely keep up with my new 235 Iguanadon with a speed of 122% even when it's on 2 legs.
Once it drops down to 4 legs, it leaves my Raptor behind almost immediately.
And while it uses no Stamina when sprinting on all 4, it still uses almost no Stamina when sprinting on 2 legs.
I've sprinted around for agges on two legs, so my Raptor could keep up, and even with only 940 Stamina, it never even reached 3/4
Do yourself a favour and get one ASAP. Sure they're good for gathering and seeds, but their true purpose is as a shot to long distance scouting mount, or even as a taming mount, since you can use your bow while riding, and it's head doesn't get in the way when you shoot.
BEST STARTER PET EVER! Whoop whoop! I have a level 33 and he’s AWESOME. For starters they can jump over wooden and stone Dino gates... Great for raids! (Not bethmoth) Also they make seeds! Super fast on four legs. Super easy to bola then knock with a bat. Or fists or yknow. One more thing, There’s AMAZING at getting berries. I got like 500 from about 5 bushes. Mines named diet of air and we go exploring on my raft. GREAT TAME! 👏
I can’t stress how good these are. If you pump movement for a while they can be great for use in a taming pin they can jump over at least 2 or 3 high walls if in gather mode and run the sprint mode with lvs in movement it can outrun most animals on the island. On top of that later in the game gather berries with it and turn the into seeds for a lighter non-sloiling food source. One seed weights .01and gives 1 food.
Their eggs kibble up. That means they tame on simple kibble and produce eggs for regular kibble. They seed fruit and veggies. That means they convert berries and crops into seeds of the same type. They don't use stamina while on all fours. They can fight while on 2 legs. They are fast. They harvest berries well. One of the best , if not the best multi purpose dinos in the game.
These guys are one of my favorites. Iguanodons are perfect early-game tames, and can be used for a variety of functions. When running on two legs their stamina does not drain, they are quick, have decent weight, and are more than capable of handling a scuffle with a raptor or two. You can also shoot of their back, and they can jump pretty high. Solid Dino.
Tip 1: Turn autorun on, press "apply" and restart the game(without restarting it may bug and not apply). Without autorun on, when you double tap and hold left side, it won't always sprint, only run. With autorun, it always sprints if you double tap and then hold. It's a bug. You always wanna sprint because of infinite stamina.
Tip 2: When you approach to mount Iguanodon, tap on the top left saddle icon, instead of the normal way on the right side. If you tap on the right, sometimes it may register as action and will make Iguanodon produce seeds instead of you mounting on the saddle. I would also recommend to disable the option that holding tap makes you dismount because some other tames have a hold action, like Trike charge, so you won't dismount while trying to do it.
This Dino is an amazing starter tame!
-its easy to knock out, just grab a bola, and use a slingshot!
-Its speed is awesome, it can jump high, it doesn’t take massive fall damage and, it has decent health!
-it can hold a lot of stuff such as, berries, thatch, wood, hide, meat and more!
-If your a farmer you’ll need this, it can turn berries into seeds, it can save you from farming for hours for seeds!
-downsides
-They have decent health but they can easily be killed by something larger then a raptor
-its hard to find a high level and there really a pain to deal with.
-you can get attacked from any side with ease, watch out for that.
-they can easily be bolad and tranqed by enemy players.
-there wait is fine, but it’s not enough, someone could be running at you and you accidentally hit a tree and get encumbered.
Well, I hope this was useful! :)
The iguanodon is one of the most important tames early/mid game. Forget metal runs, forget the seeds, try a taming mount with infinite stamina and insane speed that can hold its own against the biggest predators.
Get a high level one, upgrade alot of health and move speed (it’s pretty squishy), and some melee damage. Now get an xbow for every 100 tranq arrows, and narcotics. It should already have enough weight to carry the equipment you need, it has infinite stamina, and it has a decent pike-like attack with a little bit of knockback (move backwards and spam left click).
When fighting/taming on it, circle around the enemy (try to stick on their tail and be annoying), be careful not to get swarmed, try to take things head on, and don’t be afraid to run away on all 4s to avoid taking on too much at once. This thing should be able to hold its own if you can’t be bothered to bring escorts.
To be fair, procoptodon sorta does all this but better in some ways, but iguanodon has its place and is usually located in safe enough areas (watch for raptors).
