parasaur on steroids: they can run without stamina drain besides if they are in attacking position, collect berries and carrots and seeds amazingly and can deseed stuff, really overpowered if you level melee and hp, and can outrun pretty much anything with enough levels into movement speed. Sorry i wrote so much i got excited •v•
When I was starting the game a saw a iguanadon and wanted to kill it because I needed meat so I ran up to it and poked it with my spear and died, I respawned and saw a rock so I hoped on it and I didn't slip off so I ran up to the iguanadon and poked it again and bolted to the rock and hoped on and started poking, after a while the iguanadon started to run so I hoped of the rock and killed it, the next day I found out that iguanadons have infinite stamina and was so mad at myself for not taming it.
This guy usually spawns in the south end jungles go like so newbies like myself know where they spawn
I've always found the Iguanodon charming. Even though it is weak in the grand scheme of things in ARK, it is one of, if not the best beginner's tame in the game. It has two modes: Quadruped and Biped. The base stance is Quadruped. In this mode, you are less agile, but are extremely quick. And the best part is, you have infinite stamina! You can run as far as you like in Quadruped. The Biped mode is toggled with right click (or left trigger on console.) In this stance, you are slower, but are more agile and able to attack and gather berries. Stamina is consumed, but only at a rate of 3 stamina a second. Regardless of the mode, the Iguanodon is a farmer's best friend. It is able to convert berries into seeds, sparing time from trying to gather them normally. It's strong points are speed, stamina, and weight. It's weak point is health, with okay melee. Overall, the Iguanodon is a good mount for beginners and those in midgame. And I didn't know when to say this, but it has a cute roar too.
First time in game got scared by weird snorting and mooing and I saw my first iguanadon I accidentally hit it and killed me and I lost all my stuff but they are great for seeds and when there’s more than one you can have all the power
EXCELLENT early game mount, due to it's infinite stamina when quadrupedal. Easy to get saddle, and makes seeds from berries. A little squishy though.
I saw a lot of these guys around, will they attack if your hurt it?
The Iguanadon is a very great all purpose mount, however note its egg size, though the iguanadon takes simple kibble to tame, their eggs can in fact be used to make regular kibble, if gathering a bunch of scorpions seems too challenging, the Iguanadon is an amazing alternative for the early game egg farm, they can be transported easier as well!
This is my favorite dino just because dinosaurs was my favorite movie as a kid
These things are insanely fast! I'd been spending most of my time using my lvl 231 Raptor as my main scouting Dino, with a speed of 129%, but it can barely keep up with my new 235 Iguanadon with a speed of 122% even when it's on 2 legs.
Once it drops down to 4 legs, it leaves my Raptor behind almost immediately.
And while it uses no Stamina when sprinting on all 4, it still uses almost no Stamina when sprinting on 2 legs.
I've sprinted around for agges on two legs, so my Raptor could keep up, and even with only 940 Stamina, it never even reached 3/4
Do yourself a favour and get one ASAP. Sure they're good for gathering and seeds, but their true purpose is as a shot to long distance scouting mount, or even as a taming mount, since you can use your bow while riding, and it's head doesn't get in the way when you shoot.
This guy is absolutely SPECTACULAR for an early game gatherer and attacker steps on how to tame: 1 encounter an iguanodon and make sure you have at least 2 bolas ready 2 after you knock it out with a club or fists etc, feed it a bunch of berries and after about 5-10 minutes you have an iguanodon! Hope this was helpful :D
