Tips & Strategies

What are tips for ichthyornis? Tips and strategies for ichthyornis in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
DO NOT USE ARROWS, the tool tip is wrong, it kills them. Use tranq darts.
Don't let it take your stuff it took my journeyman crossbow and I killed it but it didn't give it back like a pegomastax
Don't make it mad. If you do, it basically becomes a flying Pego.
DONT USE REGULAR FISH FOR ANY LEVEL. Find a Leeds (even baited via raft) scrape the fish, and tame your gull.
Hey guys! It’s Glomar 120 here! I am what I think would be a pro at hunting these. And I’m going to give you some tips and tricks on how to read yourself of these weird copies, and what you will need
First rule of engagement: remove valuables
Seagulls will normally go for a item of value like certain berries, narcoberry’s, crafted narcotic, spoiled meat, raw meat, ammo, eggs, and even go as far as to make you drop your equipped weapon (without them eating the weapon) when I see these, I will harvest bushes to get at least four narcoberry‘s, and using triangle button or whatever button splits a stack of items in half on PS4/other platforms to make stacks of one or two narcoberry‘s, so that when it sweeps down to steal things, it won’t go through the berries too quickly. If you were really on edge about your level 85 lightning, wyvern egg, just put it away, or put it in a large tame, because they will eat, and I mean actually eat, a small team like compies, dodos and Pegos.
Rule of engagement number two: striking first
Whenever hunting bees, you must make sure that you initiate engagement from a far using a bow, throwing a spear, using a gun, or if you are special skills, you can even slingshot it, and then ready a more powerful weapon unless you are taming it. If you run up to it and start swinging your melee weapon, unless it is a sword or better quality melee it will almost immediately take one item and then start circling you. my favorite method is using a bow to land two shots from a far and then using a spear to deal the final or last two blows. If they are on the ground, wallowing their way to torment another player, then this is the best way to deal with these. But if they are in the air, just avoid them. If they strike first and continue to circle you either run away in a single direction it is possible, or to avoid wasting ammo, wait until you hear their call, or until you see them, dive to attack.
Rule of engagement, number three: NEVER EVER FIND MORE THAN ONE OF THESE AT A TIME OTHERWISE, YOU COULD GET OVERWHELMED AND RESORT TO PUNCHING, WHICH WILL QUICKLY KILL YOURSELF.
Whenever I am feeling upset, I’ll make these guys my primary source of hide >:))))))
I hope the strategies can help you deal with these and read those monsters of your land.
HAPPY SURVIVING! – glowmar120
On my first day, me and my cousin were trying to build a thatch house. We hid under the foundations for an hour. Now I shoot these on sight.
Are they in mobile?…….. . A a a a a a a a a
If they're bothering you pull out you're shotgun. Easy kill
Split large stacking consumables such as narcotics a couple times as they steal full stacks at a time. Also they can even steal your water containers (canteens) and you can’t get them back. I recommend you stay away if possible or shoot them with the shotgun or bring dimorphodons to swarm them from a distance
They love stealing lystros (RIP john)
When taming, do NOT use a crossbow and tranq arrows, as it will die in one shot if under lv 30.
Ironic that their favorite kibble is pegomastax. Both little shoulder-pets like to steal stuff.
They need to be debuffed so they don’t eat everything but only food.
A crossbow with stone arrows will kill up to around a level 70. Wait till it swoops in at you and when its up in your face completely, fire at it.
Their torpor is FAST so make sure you’ve got loads of narcotics😐 had him at 90% tamed and he woke up, stole my stuff, and flew straight into the mouth of a raptor.
I am incredibly shore that these birds were originally intended to get the beach babies off the coast line. They steal your shit, your small tames, and if they haven't taken enough from you, they then proceed to take your life, and fly around your little straw house until you dare to come outside again. Of course they certainly have their uses, and they do add to the atmosphere, but I just can't help but wonder if these birds were intented to prey on noobs. Just think about it, how many noobs actually make a sling shot or bow. I'm not kidding about the small tames, ive seen them steal Dodos, pegos, and compies, but then again they probably only took them because one time they stole a dodo and then aggroed my other creatures, and they just started lifting my other creatures into the air. In summary I'd be careful about having any shoulder mount or small tame thar the player can carry around these pelican pricks
Is this guy in mobile? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it?
If you play pc there is an ArK. Mod that makes these basterds in the sky not steal your food.
This demon of the sky ate my last egg from a rex line that lived through being insided twice and wiped 3 times rip envy an ivy boss rexs at hatch 😢 but great for stealing noobs stuff that join server or raiders just leave by abs an watch.
