In a safe spot build a 3x3 trap, 2/3 high using doorframes on all sides. Build 3 wooden signs.

Make a full set of ghillie and a few cactus broths (amount of broth depends on server settings)

Drop it into the trap, equip gear and eat broth before getting close.

Crouch and follow the Hyaenodon. Let it walk into a corner, place a sign directly behind it, one on the side and rotate it 90° and do the the same on the other side (it is possible to leave access to him from 2 doors but due to the thickness on the sides of the door I wouldnt recommend). It should now be unable to step, only rotating in place and you should be able to see him clearly through one door.

You should now be able to stay still (crouching) and pet every 30 seconds no problem.

I highly recommend going to Aberation and taming a breeding pair of high level light pets and uploading, putting offspring levels into charge regen and a few in charge range. Now on any map you can fly around with the light on and they easily identify max levels. I do this with a Wyvern and 280 glowtail, and carry them to a box trap at my base. With your new max levels learn to super breed 😁

Please up vote this. But you can take the alpha you just need to take it away from the pack and put it in a taming pen and wear some ghillie and you’ll be fine👍

As odd as it is wear hide when taming not ghillie. They seem to tolerate you more.

I used two pens, both wooden (they won't damage it, even if they can), one foundation and it has to be 3 walls high (a few somehow glitched up and over 2 walls). The pens I made are 5 foundations apart, and was able to pet the lower level pupper. Make sure after you've dropped it with your flying mount (I used a pteranodon) you move your mount away from the pens. If it's close to it the hyena will just try and run around. Once you've crouched and petted it, it should stay in the same spot. Keep waiting and petting and you're done.

*I had a doorway with no door for the pens, they don't go through doorways.

If u see one u should run because it usually means there's more around 1 will run away but if if there's more they will attack and are extremely dangerous

The only problem I've come across by taming away from the alpha is them jumping out. Drop them in a pit. Put a ceiling on it. Have multiple doors and windows so you can still see the direction it's facing(I use greenhouse windows on it), I always tame the alpha by taking it away from the pack. I want the highest level. I just go in the door at it's back and to keep it from running I have ghillie gear and stay behind it like a dung beetle.

Pick the alpha up. pull it away from the pack put in a 2x2x2 box and followed it in circles till done

Just pet it all you need to be doing is pet it

Its real easy but time consuming just knock one down and build a two by two wall around it then u can easily tame it when it wakes up (you have to be crouching while approaching near it)

Theilos are a good animal to tame because they are fast and can be used to hunt. Rubby. Scarlet. Ash. Asha

Easiest way to calm it down again is allow it to ate an small dino like dodo.

Two level 70 before tame hyaenodon can tame a level 50 troodon.

I found mine in the grasslands scavenging. If you want to find some, kill something where they are found, then leave for a minute and come back and see if they are there. Then pet them and then they will be tamed.

Finally tamed one for the first time. But just a small cost of my sleep.its currently 4:00 am.

Don't think you're gonna KO it and build a trap around it, they don't wake up.

Just claim the babys now on asa. Thats what i do with troodons or any hard passive tames.!!!!!

Sooo... ThEsE tHiNgS... I attempted to tame one by knocking it out to calm it because I heard a lit of other people did that too. wElL tHaT dIdNt Go WeLl... It took me over 3 times to trap it in a 2 by 1. Then I knocked it out... AnD tHe DaRn ThInG gLiTcHeD. It showed it was knocked out but didnt have any torpor. So here I am standing in a small box with my pter and a nearly dead glitchy Dog. Huh.
