Tips & Strategies

What are tips for griffin? Tips and strategies for griffin in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
so when taming a griffin i used a argy trap but to get when in you have to have it run straight in cause it will just circle up close
Taming this during a 3x event with a level 145 actually required 11 mutton, not 10 as previewed. Also put in 10 narcotics for for precautionary measures, but I don’t think that it was not needed.
Tip for the noobs
Build a 2 by 4 foundation trap ( would recommend stone ), place two dino gate frames with gates on the two sides with two foundations. Then take double door frames on the four foundation sides and make them as tall as the Gino gates. Then just cover the top with eight stone roofs. Once you got that have one tribemate stay by the trap with a dino gate open, the other take a pterandon and bring the griffin into the trap and fly out threw the double door frames ( pterandons can fit through double door frames). As the griffin goes in the the trap the other tribemate closes the gate. Boom a trapped griffin! Gl!
When you go to tame a level 85 Griffen don't try and get it in a tame cage cuz' you have to hit the perfect angle cuz of there insane turn length.
I have never used traps. Just, sinomacrops. Ive tamed this and a quetz solo with my sinomacrops. Just, fly up, glide, shoot, repeat.
If you do not want to build a trap, try and knock it out in a thin canyon area, this way it is likely to get stuck on the canyon walls trying to escape, you will need high health / good armour for this.
For low levels, I have four words. Run. For. The. Hills.
It's easy to tame a griffin now because of the new genesis nets
Griffin's are insanely good flyers so I would understand why you want one and now your gonna learn how to get one
1.make an area of stone foundations, enough to fit a Griffin
2.get some dinosaur gateways and place them all around the foundations
3.THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT, place another dinosaur gateway inside each of the originals to make a kind of cage
4.leave one gateway alone and place the gate in it
5.lead a Griffin through the gate the run as quickly as you can out of the gaps in the cage
6.pop some tranq dart in his head (leave about 5-7 seconds between each)
7.give it some meat
BOOM you got yourself a Griffin, leave a good rating if this helped
Narcotics and prime meat work best
While riding to glide sprint and dont hold anything (binocs, map, and weapons) or you wont glide
Insane damage potential at higher levels with a practiced rider. The base damage of the griffin's primary attack while gliding is ~180 and it scaled with melee damage %. As an example, a griffin with 46 wild points and 51 user-invested points in damage will have 759.7% damage and will be capable of doing ~1367 points of AOE damage at a fairly quick rate of fire.
I've been trying my best to find one of these in fordjur but I still can't I've circled the map hundreds of times I'm still technically a beginner maybe I'm missing something any advice of tips on finding one?
Since Gen2 came out you can just net them and put the trap over them while they're in the net. Its SO easy.
Do not keep your tames in a trap with one of these, their torp is so high that by the time you knock it out your tame will die
Well, mine just glitched in Wyvern so that was really easy :D
LvL 24 got knocked out after shooting it 15 crossbow tranq arrows, and tamed with 6 prime meat.
When taming Griffins I always use my high level Argy, he has nearly 20k health and I set him to passive and let the Griffin bite him as I shoot it, or I let the Griffin bite me because although they have decent damage, flak armour and 800 health seem enough to survive,
It should take about 46 regular darts to get a level 60 to fleeing amount of torpor including inaccurate shots, after that about 9 more for it to go to sleep, I'd recommend first taming the lowest level you can find and then using it to
tame higher levels later, if you want a high level Griffin without taming worse ones first, a trap would be necessary,
I haven't tested it yet, but building an octagonal amphitheatre/coliseum shaped trap of wood or above to delay it's escape with slightly over hanging walls so it doesn't fly away when it flees would probably do, after it goes to sleep normal meat should tame it after a while, but be prepared to lose a lot of narcoberries/toxin/narcotics
In the desert area they replaced what would of been a wyvern raviene with griffins Lots of griffins lets just say that running from 30 griffins isn't easy
Do not use tranq arrows when knocking this out use 30% darts and arrows if you have to use both but if you only use arrows it's a 95% chance for death not 16.6%
