Hello! Today we're gonna tame a griffin!
So the materials most likely (bc I haven't tamed one myself) needed are: Crossbow or bow,tranq arrows or shock arrows (not sure about the shock arrows but yeah),meat (your choice,I don't suggest fish,it most likely won't do much and is a waste of time),4 stone Dino gateways,2 Dino reinforced gates,and that should be pretty much it. So what will be reviewing today will be the trap method,if I could just afford the name change pass thing I'd have like 7 griffins already I think π,but anyway,how to make the trap: Step 1. Place the stone gateways in a line like this | | | | , Step 2. Place the gates at the ends like this | | .Also make sure to put spaces between the gateways,but not big enough to wear they can glitch out or can escape without having to glitch.I say that by experience,that's why my sweet angels are dead ππ.But aside from that,the trap is now done,get flyer or go by foot,I suggest fast flyer (like Pteranadon) cuz that's how I lure mine,once you get griffins attention,make sure it's following you ever so often bc they might not be able to keep up (this is if on flyer,tho if u put all points into speed then maybe you want to do this too),after the griffin gets close to the cages gates,like infront,run/fly to the opposite direction,then when far enough run into the trap bc griffins like to circle around,and to make them beeline into the cage this step might be necessary unless you have your own tactics you'd like to stick to for this step.Once the griffin in trapped quickly close the side yall went through and exit throught the wall holes (or just go out before closing).Make it respect you,cuz if it doesn't,when you get it unconscious,it won't eat,once again im saying this out of experience.Search up ways to make it respect you if you don't know how.But now to knocking it out,shoot the griffin with your arrows,wait 7 seconds between every shot or else you'll kill it.then after it's unconscious (probably after about 20-30 arrows I think) shove some meat down it's throat and then boom,you've got a griffin!

You need to use TRANQ DARTS after the griffin nerf.
iβm a lazy guy, and i donβt usually use traps when i tame things, other than BIG things like a reaper queen or a giga, but THIS IS THE EXCEPTION. unless your dad is apollo, it is impossible to knock one of these guys out without using a trap, for my case anyway. they are ridiculously fast, and they will circle you and attack you. however, the griffin is worth the trouble. itβs one of the fastest fliers, does devastating damage compared to other fliers, other than your typical high-level argy, doesnt need a saddle to ride, can fit two people, and not to mention it looks amazing. however, it canβt pick up many things, it can only pick up smaller creatures. if you carry cryopods around with you though, this shouldnβt be a problem. -J

You CAN tame them with a crossbow.
Wait 5-7 seconds between shots and there is no way you will kill it. Torpor raises over time, arrows/darts are not instant.
You do not "have to have" tanq darts.
You do not need a saddle for griffins
They can fly through open stone dino gates so build a taming pin with that in mind to make it easier to tame otherwise you will be chasing it down alot.
General Argentavis taming pens will work, it is a knockout game that is not narcotic heavy. Will require quite a lot of tranqs. Have fun taming it everyone!
The easiest way to tame a griffin π.
Requirements: 4 stone Dino gateways - 2 reinforced Dino gates - 1 net gun and some ammo for it - crossbow or rifle - tranq arrows or tranq darts -
First, you must make a stone trap, I recommend getting four stone Dino gateways and two reinforced gates, this way you can reuse the trap to tame other griffins. This will require around 1,200 stone I think 400~ thatch (maybe) and about 650 wood (approx). I recommend getting a large tame with good weight and using a metal axe and pick instead of using a Dino to harvest :)
Now, you must find a griffin, they usually spawn in either the mountain plain areas on most maps (that they are on) or winter biomes.
Once you find a griffin, make sure there arenβt any other creatures around that could kill you or the griffin.
Now, run up to the griffin and use the net gun to trap it. Place the Dino gateways in a line, make sure the gaps arenβt to big. Place the doors at both sides of the trap, make sure theyβre closed ofc.
Now, you can use tranq darts or tranq arrows (with crossbow). Wait a few good seconds before shooting again with the crossbow though, or you may kill it.
Shove some meat in its inventory and you have a griffin! I recommend going to the info section for the best food to get!

Just build a 2x4 or 2x6 pen with a dino gate on one side, placing stone pillars on the outer edges all along it. Make it near the green obelisk! Then fly the griffin into it thru the door with a pteranodon, fly out thru other end thru the pillars, land your mount, run to the other side, close the door, boom. Trapped griffin. Then tame with roughly 150 tranq arrows. Use mutton or prime meat as they are easiest to come by.
