Tips & Strategies

You DON’T need ghillie! I’ve tamed multiple without it!
All you need is a fertilized egg to distract the parent, I’d recommend using stego or diplo eggs.
All you need to do is
1. Throw a fertilized egg around 25-50m from the nest (stego usually works for 1 minigame, diplo works for 3).
2. Approach the nest from the opposite direction after the parent notices the egg. Crouch once you’re close to the nest and slowly move towards it.
3. Hide in the nest and wait for the baby to walk up, then copy its dance move.
If you’re using stego eggs, you’ll want to place a new egg between every minigame.
If you’re using diplo eggs, get out and back into the nest and wait for the baby to come back (takes around 10-15s). You’ll want to place a new egg after 3 minigames.
When you’re going to place a new egg, get out of the nest and crouch, try to move very slowly until you’re completely off of the nest and get around 10m away before standing up. Repeat steps 1-3
4. Once the baby is tamed, RUN FOR IT, the parent will immediately become uninterested in the egg and may come after you and your new child!
Notes:
I’ve tried taming with and without ghillie armor, both have worked just the same.
I’ve tried taming with ghillie armor and no eggs, and I’ve never been able to complete a minigame. Even if the parent is a decent distance away, it aggros as soon as the kid walks into the nest!
Adult gigantoraptors aren’t aggressive once their nest breaks(a while after their baby is tamed or killed), but they will eat corpses, and if you harvest a corpse that they want then they will attack you. I find it best to kill them so that a new one can spawn with a baby, but if you don’t plan to be harvesting corpses near one then they can still be helpful for keeping the area more peaceful.

While taming it an alpha rex decided it would be funny to 'help'
If the baby refuses to do the taming minigame with you, try breaking some of the rocks/trees around the nest. I think whatever wildcard did to prevent trapping the parent extended to ANYTHING that could potentially stop the parent from reaching the nest. I tried multiple times to tame a baby and got no response, but as soon as I cleared the area for the parent, the taming game worked first try.
Fun fact! Unlike other babies, if you eliminate the parent, you still can't claim the baby. Learned the hard way 😅
I’ve tried looking for a maximum distance on how far the parent can detect fertilized eggs, 80m worked but I’ll keep testing
Step 1, bring an egg or two just in case ( i brought rex eggs)
Step 2, find a nest with parent and baby.
Step3, place the egg with some distance from the nest, and wait for the parent to see the egg and start to pick it.
Step 4, make ur way to the nest and hide in it(there is an interaction button that says hide in nest.
Step 5, wait for the baby to start the minigame for taming the baby.
Step 6, the parent should come back to the nest shortly after starting the minigame, dont freak out, it wont attack you while you do the minigames with the baby, it will protect you and the baby from any intruder, ur tribemate can even stand there with u beside the nest, but any sudden movement from your mate will alert the parent and attack, during a conflict where the parent runs away too far will make the baby pause the minigame, therefor u should put up another egg close to the nest to make the parent return, then the minigame with the baby will resume.
Step 6, once the minigame is 100% u got urself a Gigantoraptor :) and no u cant tame the parent (i play official pve)
That one tip where they say you don’t need insert eggs is not true! The eggs must be fertilized
Step one. Sneak into nest
Step two. Imprint on babys.
Step three. Run for your life with baby.
-The parent will peck at a fertilized egg for about 30 seconds, typically enough time to perform one action with the baby. Higher levels will need multiple actions.
-When the baby wants to do an action, it’ll walk towards you in the nest and jump. You’ll be shown a list of actions, one of which the baby will start doing, and you have about 3 seconds to pick the correct one to mimic.
Don't use your Gigatoraptor to tame a new one... do the mini game again so you get taming effectiveness bonus levels!! I wish the people that put the tip would have stated you get no taming efficiency... :-(
If you already tamed a Gigantoraptor, you can skip the minigame taming mechanic for further wild ones by simply killing the wild parent, roaring, then clicking E on the wild baby whilst on your Gigantoraptor. Congratulations, you tamed your new baby Gigantoraptor in record time!
