What is a giganotosaurus used for? giganotosaurus battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
honestly not worth taming anymore besides the novelty of having one. they harvest a lot of meat but tamed gigas have HORRIBLE stats so just don’t bother. get a carcha instead for a million reasons. Better damage; better health, better mechanics, cooler appearance, harder, better, faster, stronger.
DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE ON ANY OTHER PLATFORM BESIDES OLD MOBILE IGNORE THIS TIP.
On old mobile these things are neutral to all tames, meaning that if you try to lure a giga to a rando's base to be evil and they have all their tames set to passive, then that's not gonna do anything unless you manually aggro the giga then tank each hit with your tame and the dude's tames in the giga's hitbox until something dies.
This also means that you can easily trap a giga by using a medium sized mount, equipping 4 metal dino gates in your hotbar, then go up to the giga and quickly place the gates when it stops moving. There exists a video somewhere on the ark mobile discord of me doing this with a pachy.
This also applies to rexes
However if you try this on any other platform including ark use you and your tame will almost certainly die as unlike old mobile wild gigas WILL always be aggressive to all tames.
WHEN TAMED! On a pvp server mostly make sure 100% of the time he/she is in a separate cage completely away from all other Dino's!! This is because after a certain amount of dmg done to the giga he will begin to "rage" he will turn on you even after all the happy memories you've had. Also even attacking all his Dino friends! :( so be sure to lock up this beast of a Dino!
When I tamed my first giga, I thought it was super weak… no better than a good Rex. And it was! It changed when I bred my first two and hatched and fully imprinted my triplets: Eclipse, Thunder and Frenzy. They are all much, much better than any Rex I’ve ever had. Not to mention having twice the hp and more than twice the damage of their parents. I will continue to breed, too. 👆if you relate
In the wild, you can't do much with them. You'd think they'd be excellent for luring to bases, but it will prioritize all other Dinos over you, so it isn't worth the effort. Once tamed, the Giganotosaurus is the best method for hunting. Should you need to stock up on meat for breeding, raising, or just feeding, this is your best bet. Of course they're also just high damage Dinos too, so they're excellent for PvP, tanks with jaw of iron. Fair warning, when trekking across a map with them, take the flattest route possible, they're terrible in forests, mountains, and water. They also take fall damage very easily, so avoid jumps of any kind. Should you end up falling off of a cliff, dismount before hitting the ground and the damage will be avoided.
Fun facts if you want to know more about the giganotosaurus!
-Gigas can be found in moutain-like areas on many of Ark's maps. They have a saddle unlock at level 96.
-To tame them, you must knock it out. This is very tricky, as they can destroy stone and do hundreds of damage per bite.
-Wild gigas have 80,000 health, while tame ones have only around 18,000 health. Becuase of this, it is NOT recommended to fight a wild giga with a tamed giga.
-Gigas have a rage meter that fills up whenever it takes too much damage in a certain time period. When enraged, it will dismount you and will attack everything around it, including you.
-They are one of the few creatures you cannot take into boss arenas. However, this does not apply to Extinction's titans, as they have open-world arenas.
That's all! Up if this was helpful.
