Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a fjordhawk? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a fjordhawk.
Steal the eggs it would make sense tho
These are pretty hard to tame but if you bring a lot of ovis, you can kill them and let the fjordur hawk eat it. Ovis are the best creature to use for this tame.
In order to tame you need to kill wild (or tame Dino’s) AFTER it has attached itself to you (It will fly around in circles above you). The larger the Dino (Rexes, Brontos, Gigas, etc) will give better taming effectiveness
Slaughter imprinted ovis. it will black box them, and infinite tame.
Breed the Ovis
Equip any melee ( chainsaw or sword would do )
Hold E and slaughter the Ovis in front of the Fjordhawk
Remember to raise max health for the Ovis for better taming effect. You can also use Desmodus’s Elixir to get 30% for free
The secret here is DON’T TRY TO BRUTE FORCE IT! Bring about 20 ovis, locate one hawk you want to tame and lure it away (I go to the snow if you follow the river down), kill off any other hawks that come with it and just start slaughtering the Ovis. If you own a desmo use it’s elixir to get a head start on taming. Do not hit the hawk or it will reset the tame bar.
Also, higher health ovis give more taming, and it doesn’t appear that higher level fjordhawks actually take longer to tame.
Careful not to get mixed up with other Fjordhawk that might be flying around as multipulte will follow you making it a little hard to keep track of the one you want lol
To tame you need to breed sheep. Bring like 2 or 3 in cryopods to wherever you are going to tame them. Kill near the fjordhawk and boom, You'll never lose your items again. They'll die if you get swarmed by wyverns though
I used my argy to bring and creatures to a 4x4 pen where the fjordhawk were. Killed creature with my crossbow and let the hawks chow down. This method took me 5 minutes to get a complete tame versus trying to kill brontos and loosing all taming due to them getting hit. 4x4 wood or stone foundations 8 doorframe matching foundations and 8 walls again matching foundations. This will trap any creature an army can carry and make for quick and easy taming.
While the hawk is eating. If you can find the correct angle near the hawk you can use a sanguine potion for added 30% tameing progress. I have not figured the correct distance for this so i ended up jumping around like some mad man doing a dance while mashing that potion near the hawk.
This lil guy is a great companion taming
1)make sure it's following you and kill everything that's near you the bigger the better
2) that's basically all it's kinda lame that it's just like the carcha but it's still very useful
Ability
Can grab your stuff if you die this lil guy can die to so be careful, he can tell if the Dino is dead or near death so it's a great Dino 7/10 my opinion
Tamed a 148 with 2 tamed ovis with health at 1,000. Very simple! Just chucked out Ovis, slaughtered, and repeated.
Breed up some mutated sheep- then let them sit in cryos for a while. When you chuck em out, level their health. 1-2 of those will 100% tame a max level. Up if helpful
Kill dinos and other wild creatures around you to tame. The larger the dino the more taming percentage you will receive

Wild
I've seen alot of prehistroic mammals in my time but I've never seen a Prehistoric Giraffe let alone it being the largest prehistroic relative. Sivatherium Flingerrum is a very strange creature on this ARK mainly its large horns. Unlike Modern Day Giraffes, They're very sharp and wide and I've seen even wild ones pick up and hurl Large boulders at attackers with them. They also use their horns to get the delicious sap from trees to supplement their weak stomachs as Sivatherium's have a case of a sick stomach causing them to hurl up their lunch.
Domesticated
The Sivatherium's love for sap is so strong, Sivatherium is easily tamed by letting it lick the sap off any nearby Survivor. Just don't get covered in its vomit after it takes some sap from you. Once tamed, Sivatherium's large horns provide huge utility in raids turning it into a living catapult able to hurl boulders or jars of pitch at enemy bases. They also have such a good run speed able to run long distances without consuming stm and are able to carry large loads for either raids or resource harvesting. And despite the nasty vomit, I've seen survivors use it as a substitute for spoiled meat due to its putred smell and taste. Sivatherium is a tame all tribes should have in many unique ways despite their weird behaviors.
If you die near a fjordhawk while trying to tame it, it can and will fly off with your bag
I would recommend using tamed Ovis as I had used 2 imprinted Ovis with 2k health and managed to tame it.
If your on a pve server (like me) you can use a fire wyvern to kill your Ovis there may be other ways but this worked for me
Definitely worth breeding after you tame a pair since it is one of the harder creatures to tame
You can use your dino to kill creatures with a much lower taming effectiveness BUT you can't be mounted when it eats. Tested with my wyvern and barbecued brontos.
July 2, ovis work. Level their hp. Kill a small dino first to make sure tame bar goes up. After it eats the first dino you can sac a sheep. If it won't agro to the sheep, kill a small dino like a dodo then drag the sheep body over top of it. You have to be quick but it will eat the sheep.
