It will most likely be found circling you. Don't worry it will only attack if you are low. They are scavengers. They like playing fetch with you and they will return with as many items as it can carry when you die. It's basically a flying dog. Can't wait to tame one.
Good tame and all but really really annoying when they follow you and a constant blur of colours AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR TRYING TO GET A PT SADDLE AND THEY KEEP EATING THE DEAD CREATURES AND AHHHHHHH!!!! But.. good creatures other than that. The end I hope you liked what I wrote above this there.
Why you should put it on passive when you die and it gets your stuff: if a hostile entity, for example a therizino was what killed you when your hawk goes to get stuff it won’t attack the therizino, go straight for the stuff and probably have a smaller chance of dying rather than fighting and taking more damage and then a raptor comes along afterwards… and does the finishing touch but on passive the hawk would take less damage and just fly away from danger- I had to learn that the hard way -James ( have a good day!)
Once you are spotted by a fjordhawk it will follow you stealing the bodies of things you’ve killed, kind of assisting in battle, and attacking any pet you can pick up (shoulder and or 2-handed carry). Hitting them the first time usually does 0 damage and a weird “puff” effect. Roars from a rex cannot properly stun them until the hawk’s guard is down. There is no escape once they begin following you, the only way to not lead them straight to your base is to kill them.
When encountering; WARNING: A single one untamed hawk is cool, kinda annoying - BUT a flock of these guys is enfuriating. Ontop of it one of your tribemates or dinos die and a SINGLE one nibbles its body, you'll be chasing it down for your(or your mates) stuff. SECOND WARNING: Watch them if they have a paper bag(death bag, these pesky buggers WILL drop it and pick it back up or another of the flock will grab it while you chase. Highly recommend killing a THICC wild dino for them to feast and book for the hills to lose them if you so choose to.... I do....
I saw a 180 one then saw an ovis so flew over and killed it BUT WHEN THE FORDHORK CAME OVER A STUPID T REX CAME AND ONE HIT HIM. So from now on I trap the fordhawks and make the area safe before taming but have never found a 180 since.
