This a question more than a tip? What is the best stats for a hawk? Would speed help the hawk escape turrets when you accidentally fly up on some? Or would HP be better?

To easy tame high levels early game, find a hawk, then lead it into a wooden box pen, and start breeding any dino with a reasonably low hatching/gestation period and reasonably high harvest health after it's death, then raise and sacrifice the offspring to the birds.

I just tried the wyvern egg trick and my fjordhawk got killed when I did. Anyone else experience this?

My second tip about fjordhawks

They can grab caches for you.

On PC or laptop, double hit the key F to throw your fjordhawk at the cache and it will bring the cache to you.

Sometimes it wont work, it is either the cache might be too far, or your aim was not too good.

Unofficials best tame for pvp or travelling in general.

It might be best to approach with full health as it seems to imply it only attacks weak prey.

The secret here is DON’T TRY TO BRUTE FORCE IT! Bring about 20 ovis, locate one hawk you want to tame and lure it away (I go to the snow if you follow the river down), kill off any other hawks that come with it and just start slaughtering the Ovis. If you own a desmo use it’s elixir to get a head start on taming. Do not hit the hawk or it will reset the tame bar.

Also, higher health ovis give more taming, and it doesn’t appear that higher level fjordhawks actually take longer to tame.

Guys while they are wild they will eat your if you die, and all your stuff no green beam nothing these things are evil just lost 400 blood and 5 cryo-pods.

When wyvern egg hunting I was ambushed and my fjordhawk died after I did when the wyvern shot fire. Desmodus dies, I die, hawk dies. All my gear disappeared with the death of the hawk.

I saw a 180 one then saw an ovis so flew over and killed it BUT WHEN THE FORDHORK CAME OVER A STUPID T REX CAME AND ONE HIT HIM. So from now on I trap the fordhawks and make the area safe before taming but have never found a 180 since.

The fjordhawk has 2 or 4 abilities depending if you consider them the same.

1. It can show how weak a Dino is like a dire wolf with a plus on it.

2. It shows dropped satchels with a skull symbol

3. The most desirable ability, it can bring you all your stuff to you when you die

4. It also brings your items when you are teleporting between beds

It seems taming doesn't increase if it eats while you're mounted on a creature, so if you're using a creature to get kills be sure to dismount before it starts eating

If you can’t tame a rock elemental then go and find some ovis and use them. The Fjordhawk will instantly tame up and not drop in taming effectiveness. It’s the best I’ve found in testing. Still can’t 100% tame though

From my experience it will not eat insects or bugs when being tamed.

Fjordhawks are somewhat a little hard to tame according to me. You have to kill things for the progress bar to get up higher. You cannot be on a mount while completing this process.
