Tips & Strategies

What are tips for ferox? Tips and strategies for ferox in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
If you have a horse do the back leg kick and knock it out for an easy tame and you only lose about one level.
A good way to tame is to have a few shields(at least metal) and give it the element, back up against a wall, and block. Keep repeating it. If it runs away, stay in the same general area as you last saw it, they will come back.
Why is the Ferox in the early game section???
They spawn in the abbarant cave in Lost Island. They won't aggro and passive flee when you're on a Bary (idk if this applies to all mounts). But if you're on foot, they'll aggro and transform.
To the guy who wanted to know where they spawn. They spawn smack bang in the middle of the arctic.
Hope this was helpful. ✌️
Track the mission into the Fro-zone,go their and kill all the bears. There should be a lot of Ferox, when you tame bring extra ele just in case. Make sure when you feed element grapple to the roof of the cave and wait for it to go back to normal. Keep on doing this process and you should have it tamed.
Also something I found was if you are wearing another Ferox or maybe even on your shoulder it won’t let you tame it unless it’s off so keep in mind also. Again not sure if it is just mine or what hope this helps
As of March 27, 2020 if you use element to tame a Ferox they DO NOT gain level whenever you tame them. This is probably a bug so don’t waste your element!
They’re by almost every lake in the southern eden area
A easy way to tame is to feed it element when net it the second it transforms it'll transform back to normal before the net ends and just rinse and repeat
Use creature that can climb and use something like a grapple to get up and down climbing creature is really just a sacrifice just in case but you can sit on it on wall/ceiling while you wait
i just tamed a level 300 on fjordur. no idea what the max level is for these guys but thats the highest i got. it ended up being a lvl450 in the end. i recomend going to lost island and getting a sinomacrops. makes it way easier. grapples work too but i prefer to fly easier. i have the tek helmet and it helped a lot. you can see the agro and where they are. when you track them, the tracking bar dissapears after you use element.
hope this helps a little, just what i experienced in my taming.

Can someone tell me why mid tameing it multiplyed twice like I was tameing it ran away come back there was 2 of the same and fed both ran away again come back and there was 3
When you find this don’t make him angry
When you walk around the snow tipped mountains, and glacier covered trees, you hear bedore you... Brrr brrr? You run like all hell but you were too late, the cracked jerboa had already gotten high on element and was chasing you throu the icy bushes and when it caught you it had wrapped its icy, cold, jaws od death around your skull but then... It changed back to its dossile form and skittered away to the mountains. Be safe.
Either find the Ferox Cave at 83.9,47.6 be careful as it is crawling with Polar Bears or go where there is always a snow storm and bring a Snow Owl,Bloodstalker, or Parasaur (Parasaur not recommended),find a Ferox using predator vision or spider vision then feed it element then grapple to a mountain and wait it out rinse and repeat, or for the Ferox cave build and enclosure large enough for the transformed version of the Ferox so it stays trapped and feed it element get it stuck let it go back to normal form and the redo it.
What I do is grab a grappling hook and crossbow and go in with my tankiest Dino feed it element then grapple on to the top of the cave then let it attack the Dino but make sure it’s on passive because when your up there they will run away so keep it aggroed until it’s small then wash rinse repeat
I may be incorrect but I don’t think the taming rates for the ferox can be changed, on 5x taming speed a 300 ferox took about 20 element, I think it’ll always be 5% per element
