Tips & Strategies

What are tips for equus? Tips and strategies for equus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Yall. This isnt simple. Only those who have actually tamed these know the pain. Ecspecially on mobile. Pain, and frustration.. Dismounting by feeding it rockarrots accidentally... PAIN. But they are worth it. Low hp, but massive torpor. Low attack too.. And also, they are fast, but at the same time slow, so I guess you could say their speed is MEDIUM. Also, they run so close to danger, you sometimes sweat in rl Happened for me)..
Equus are so good on genesis for starting, so many times have I knocked out bigger and stronger dinos with their kick so I wouldn't have to use precious resource. Plus they are great berry harvester so you can mass gather narcoberries and mejoberries before you get mammoths or other gathering dinos. You should definitely consider this as a great starter tame on any map as they are a passive tame.
Thanks for reading
One if the best tames! Have been breeding them for a long time and gotten mutations in stats and color. Use the horse to tame or kill most creatures. 30k health. 3 k stam 1k weight and 500 % melee. Taming rex, spino, brontos and diplo and smaller creatures, even can kill rexes and spinos 👍🐴
Take a argentavis and take it home which is easy to tames these guys
they are found mostly around the following areas:the northern end of smugglers pass, black sands infront of the redwoods, outskirts of fars peak, other random place.they were killed off by the rex population
I found plenty of equus in the highlands ds the carrot gardens too. And you'll need about 70 carrots to account for decay if your taming a level 150 cross ark server 3x you'll need maybe 29.
A Rex was easier to tame then this guy
Taming it is fairly easy. First they are unique passive tame. They do take rockarots as the second best feed from troodon kibbles. Thou the type of food you feed them doesn't affect the taming effectiveness, it's best to use their preferred food to reduce time spending on their back taming it. It's effectiveness depend solely on how many times you fall off its back. So, get sneaky and sneak up on them, put food in 0 shortcut slot. feed them the first one and move closer to ride. Look at the bottom left of the screen. When it promts to be fed again, press e to keep it calm. Beware, pressing e when it does not want treat will unmount the tame and you will lose effectiveness by a lot. It is recommened to use quetzel to bring it to your own taming pen. During the tame it will run pointlessly in any direction and may run into predators if taming in wild. If you happen to do so in the wild, take another tribe mate with you to take care of the surroundings.
Tbh, the equus has a terrible spawn. It spawns near almost anything dangerous you can think of.
If you don't know where they spawn, it is near the rivers . So fly or run the river banks up and down until you find them, although they can be further away from the rivers sometimes
make sure you have carrots, they like very much, to catch an Equus as soon as you simply approach from behind and ride them if they try to endanger you feed a carrot🥕🥕
Thanks dododex
If you are on a map like Val or Rag that spawns carrots in the wild the grab a few of those, don’t waste your time with berries and make it an easy tame
Anyone else not able to stay on them on Xbox. Kicks me off everytime I’ve tried multiple different horses
When you see a dead equus on the ground it means run for your life there was a family of Rex's so there's your tip.
It’s not too easy to find an equus on the island, when you do, they are normally in dangerous areas such as near swamps, ravines, in the depths of the jungle, and grasslands/fields. So I’d say hop on argentavis and carry it, fly home or to an enclosed structure and drop it off there, making it easy for you to keep it and you safe AND if it kicks you off, it can’t run far! And if you’re looking for rock carrots to tame it with, I’d say grow them, inside a greenhouse for a 2x growing effect, I make more than 200 rock carrots off of one plant! ~Hope this helped!
Like if this was helpful!~
Here's a quick tip:
Don't mount an equus while trying to tame it.
Instead walk up to it (Don't let it bump into you) and feed it. Taming progress is twice as high when you tame them this way.
For me this is the best and easiest tame to do torpor damage. You just need to plant some carrots. It's passive tame and deal torpor quickly. You just need to plant carrots. On a 4x server it took me under 20 carrot to tame one. Just crouch and approach slowly and its juicy butt and tame then immediately ride it and wait for it to kick you and press e. You just have to time it and you're gucci. In crystal isles they are common in the floating islands. I recommend taming this as a first util dino coz after its tamed you can now knock a stego or an anky and a doedic or anything other than a giga. . . . Taming a doedic was tough for me coz they curl up and I end up wasting tons of tranqs. With this guy you can knock one in few hits in a few second.
