Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a drakeling? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a drakeling.
To start taming, pull out a torch and run up to the Drakeling. It’ll jump on your shoulder and want you to do something before you can feed it.
To tame this, you must not have a shoulder pet on. Do not hop on a tame. Because the animal will jump off your shoulder. Put extra extraordinary kibble in your last slot. You use a torch to draw it in. At the bottom of the screen it will tell you what it wants you to do. 1. Either harvest. I find trees the best. 2. Craft something. I find that thatch ceilings are the best, usually takes five. 3. kill something. I usually use an ascended sword. once you do one of these three things, it will tell you to hit triangle.(ps5) to feed it kibble.
Hold torch near it and it will land on your shoulder. It will request certain task and once task is complete, you can feed it kibble.
To tame: hold a torch it will land on your shoulder, do the task it says on screen, (xp via gathering, xp via killing things, xp via crafting.) then feed a kibble or meat, rinse and repeat.
P.S. when the task it gives shows up on your screen DO NOT GET ON A DINO. You must do the task on foot with tools and weapons. I recommend carrying fiber around since it’s light and just crafting drawing paper if you have bob’s tall tales (For the xp via crafting task.) For the killing task target small things with a sword or a pike. For the harvest task just hit rocks or trees.
I trapped one of these cuties in my base. Was fine for hours until it stormed outside, then it lightninged my damn base and was pissy. Attacking wasn't consistent but still rude. Trapping it didn't make it aggressive and I was able to wait a timer to get back on for an hour without it despawning from my base so you can trap them when you're busy!
Passive tame. Use a torch to lure them to you. They'll land on your shoulder and want you to either craft, kill, or harvest enough to fill an xp bar, once the task is done its passive tame, repeat until tamed.
Superior kibble wasnt effective but I swapped to Extraordinary kibble and it went quicker, haven't tried exceptional kibble though
Tamed with a torch after it will land on your shoulder and ask you to kill, craft,or harvest. Do that in the time limit and feed it kibble off last slot I used yellow kib.
Use a torch to get it to come down and land onto your shoulder. Then it will give you different missions to complete so get it to tame
Passive: Use torch to draw it close and it will land on your shoulder. It will then whisper murderous intent in your ear or whisper greedy intent in your ear. Complete its progress bar and you should be able to feed it. It likes exceptional kibble or a carnivorous diet
Use a torch to lure to you. Once it’s on your wrist it will ask you to craft, harvest or kill within a 1:30 timer. After complete it will ask to be fed. Preference is Extraordinary Kibble.
1: Bring a torch (and equip it)
2: It'll come towards you and get on your shoulder
3: You'll now need to get one of three sources of xp; Harvest xp, Killing xp, or Crafting xp
4: Once you fill up the appropriate bar with the corresponding xp, put kibble into your taming slot (I used cyan) and feed it.
5: Repeat steps 3 & 4 until tamed
Use a torch to lure in a Drakeling, kill other stuff, feed it, receive praise for being good bob.
Is basically sky cat.
To tame, light a torch stand near it. It’ll eventually attach to your arm. It’ll give you a task: kill, harvest, craft. The task has a 90 second timer. I crafted 10 cloth hats for crafting task, killed a a dilo and parasaur for kill, and harvest about 2 metal nodes (can be anything rock, metal, obsidian, tree, berries, etc., but better quality node faster task completes). Once you complete the task then you feed it kibble or meat. Rinse repeat
You need lost colony expansion pack. To tame you hold a torch until it lands on the ground then you move closer to feed drakeling from hotbar
What the hell just happend, don’t attack them
Wanna tame these lil fellaz here is how to:)
You can find them in pretty much any map from what I know. When you find one pull out a torch and do its needs..... I NAMED MINE RAINBOW SPRINKLES DONT JUDGE
If you dont want to kill anything, I found hopping on and off a tame does not seem to drop the taming. Once off, pull the torch out and let it land and a new option will be available.
Also killing your own babies does not work.
Prime cooked jerky works good when taming
THINGS YOU NEED TO TAME A DRAKELING:
-Exceptional Kibble or higher (last slot of hot bar)
-Torch
-Harvesting tools (pick, hatchet, etc)
-Weapons with ammo (shotgun works best but any will do
1.) Find your Drakeling. Gene Scanner is the best way to do this. They are very small and easy to miss, about the size of a Dimorph.
2.) Equip the torch. The Drakeling will fly up to you and land on your shoulder.
3.) The Drakeling will want you to gain a certain type of experience: kill experience (kill wild animals), harvest experience (collect resources), or crafting experience (craft from engrams).
4.) Once you have gained enough experience from doing those things, press the E button to automatically feed kibble from the hotbar and advance taming progress.
5.) The Drakeling will now want you to gain a different type of experience. Get the EXP and feed more kibble. Repeat until tamed.
I am not sure if taming progress/affinity is affected by kill species/kill level, what resources are harvested or how much is harvested, or if what engrams you craft makes a difference. More research is required. But the EXP requirements are pretty low on 1x official so just use whatever is nearby and focus on speed more than efficiency.
A couple of things to keep in mind.
-Once the Drakeling lands on your shoulder, you will have two minutes to complete the taming. If you fail to tame, it will leave your shoulder and you will have to lure it with the torch again.
-YOU MUST BE ON FOOT THE WHOLE TIME! If you mount a tame at any time, the Drakeling will run away and you will have to start over.
-The taming process is the same regardless of what season the Drakeling is. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter have different appearances and effects but are all tamed the same way.
-The Drakeling is not hostile to you or your tames, but if there are a lot of wild dinos nearby it can sometimes be hard to get it to come to you.
Once the Drakeling has been tamed, put it on your shoulder like any pet. Open up your inventory and a new item called Attack will be there. Equip this item and the Drakeling will move off your shoulder to become a weapon. From here you can use it in combat, it has a bite attack and a breath attack. You can also use the Drakeling to give buffs to your tames (right click). Unequip sends it back to the shoulder. Also, holding R to bring up the radial menu while it’s on your shoulder will allow you to toggle the parachute and the Drakeling will automatically slow your fall and prevent fall damage.
Enjoy your new pet!
Holding a torch in your hand will make it come to you!
