Tips & Strategies

46.9/27.5 = doedicurus Dossier on The Island maps!
Use tranq darts instead of arrows if you can, because they will roll up after taking a certain amount of damage and will only take 10% torpor when rolled up
Equip your Doedicurus with a saddle, pick it up with an Argentavis and fly near rocks as it automatically harvests the stone as you fly. Level up the melee damage to harvest more stone with each swing. Level up your Argentavis’ weight capacity be an insane stone harvest team.
Tame using darts. They don’t take damage so they don’t curl up into a ball when you shoot them with the darts and you just need to dodge it’s swings when it Agros on to you.
When it swings its tail at you, it will sometimes lift up its backside, exposing its belly... Time your shots and you can hit the soft underbelly for max torpor.
Here are some useful tips if you're planning to tame one.
1=} Don't go for that one who aalready. It will roll into a ball and after that you can't do anything.
2=}Find a fresh Doedicurus. Wait for at least 3 sec before next hit.
3=}They can be found in redwood forest after a quiet search.
4=} You should have at least 6 wooden spiked walls, before start.
5=}Carry at least 2 Bow (or it's repairing stuff) if you're taming more that 50 lvl.
6=}Try to use bio toxin (can be obtain from Jelly Fish) instead of narcotics, it will take less than narcotics and also increase torpor more than that.
7=}Use Crops instead of berries to tame faster.
They are found in redwoods EVERYWHERE I find them all the time - AncientTiger619
Tranq arrows are fine, shoot in the face, walk backwards and continue shooting in the face, if you can shoot the underside when he turns, then go ahead. It is a little difficult to time that however. When it starts to run away from you, just keep in front of it and keep shooting it in the face. If for any reason it rolls up into a ball, let it go and find another one. If you are intent on taming it, put a structure around it to keep it safe, then sit by it for about 45 minutes to an hour, it will heal faster if you are within render of it. Leveling up the melee allows it to collect more rock with each swipe of the tail. If you are so low, put most of it in weight and some in melee, this will allow you to collect more with less trips. If you have a tribemate, and you are using a Quetzal or a skiff, then only level melee.
You will encounter them in the snow, redwoods, and mountains.
Pretty slow so just walk back and if they get close enough to atk U will already be out of their range and aim for head (if it's a low lvl U might have to use tranq darts)
I see many new players struggling with taming one… those who lead to shore or look for a safe place…
A way better idea for starters is go level up by gathering explorer notes and tame a petra.
Then go to redwood tame a argy
Use the argy to look for a DEOD take it to your base then knock out and tame…
Yes taming takes too long with no kipple but taming at your base is way better and faster…
Don’t have more arrows? Your base is there and just make extra arrows if you run out
Just wait 5 seconds between shots also tame low level not high.
I have 158 sonic which gives 100 stone per rock approx and 14 rocky gets 80 per rock so not much of a difference
Do not use this to get metal only stone
It's a longer tame for new players, but can make getting your first behemoth gates up so much easier, and stone is a useful resource for most of the early-mid game
On the island they spawn in redwoods!let people know!
