Avoid attacking Dimorphodons in groups, especially in dense spawn areas, since aggroing one can bring a flock that overwhelms you and your tames. They target the rider directly even while mounted, so use a fast, durable mount while riding it yourself, or fight from safety with ranged attacks; if swarmed, retreat into deep water or another protected area.
