I haven’t seen anyone mention anything about babies but they eat raw meat they won’t drink blood the blood packs. Hope this helps

Desmodus can be tamed with blood packs, it’s a passive tame, and you can give it smaller tames of yours to make its efficiency go higher for more levels.

The Desmodus can harvest spoiled meat in absurd amounts, the bigger the creature, the more spoiled meat you get, which is good for getting narcotics.

Desmodus can also harvest blood packs from creatures, without killing the creature. If you have 200 blood packs in the Desmoduses inventory, you can craft a sanguine elixir, which is good for taming, as it raises the taming bar by 30. It can also be used for imprinting + passive taming.

At night, you can use echolocation, which turns the Desmodus invisible, meaning you can easily steal Wyvern eggs, Drake eggs, etc.

The Desmodus also can fly in caves.

When the des drops you and you have parachute active shoot him with heal beam from tek pistol to give 100% tame effective UP THIS IT WORKS!!

I read a tip that these guys are amazing at doing wyvern trenches, and they are amazing at the fire trench, but my lv 287 was slaughtered in the lightning trench, so whatever you do don’t do the lightning trench with these guys.

You can make a Sanguine Elixir in its inventory it takes 200 blood packs it’s very useful for taming as it raises any creatures taming 30 percent it can be used by walking up to an unconscious creature and using it in your hotbar

Find one single it out have blood bags in last slot of hotbar have plenty of parachutes let pick you up drops you parachute down rinse repeat

Baby bats will eat blood packs AND RAW meat and RAW prime meat like their parents, but raw meat will only restore 10 food for both babies and grown Desmodus and raw prime will restore 50 food for both. Neither will eat cooked meat or cooked prime meat. Blood packs restore 200 food for babies and adults.

Easy way to tame them early game or as a first tame:

Spawn in the bottom left area and get situated (around level 20).

Few things are necessary:

1: Hide armour at least.

2: Bloas, Basic tools from wooden crates, ability to kill creatures when needed (mainly spiders and scorpions).

3: Locating the Emerald river. Wyvern-Trench esk rocks on the coast.

4: Enough blood packs. Repeatedly kill yourself by acquiring your own blood and respawn at sleeping bags or a bed.

Enter cave and do some simple mass murder. Head to the right on entrance as there’s less typical cave creature spawns and more desmodus. Using a spyglass you will have (crystal can be gathered at the emerald river), look for a relatively low level or something alone. Get nice and close and fire an arrow at it. It’ll be scary when it comes to you and you’re on the ground, but even if it doesn’t work, what’s there to lose. You’re only low level. When it picks you up, since it’s a low level, it’ll likely tame quite quickly. Whistle follow and quickly run away with your new pet bat or otherwise fend off the other bats. Or maybe tame them too.

Taming low levels is very easy to do, it’s a great way to get started on the map. It can’t do right much for now, no saddle. So it can protect you until you’re high enough level, look cool as hell, and be whistled to attack to get blood backs which allows you to make elixir. Easier taming. I believe it is craftable without the saddle, but don’t count on it. Enjoy your easy bat.

you can use a shild while taming the desmodus. He will still pick you up, but the desmodus won't be able to damage you.

They can be found In the cave near the emerald trench (the canyon with green colored crystals and hexagon rocks) follow the trench all the way up and there will be a cave with spiders centipede and onic (smaller non-rideable bats that can give you mega rabies so maybe bring cures) after you go In use a spyglass or if you have one a snow owl to look for them try to find a low level so it wont kill you and you don’t need as much blood then put the blood packs in your last inventory slot and get it to attack you and pick you up rinse and repeat until tamed then use that one to get blood and tame a higher level. DON'T bring a tamed desmodus into the desmodus cave. They will grab you when you're up high and kick your ass

If you want to raid Wyvern nests with them, make sure they have blood packs in their inventory! They can drink them (you can't force this, they do it on their own) for a lot of hp. It could save your bat's life.

It is good for blood packs, but is absolutely phenomenal for spoiled meat

Babies won't eat blood packs while you're offline. I've lost two babies this way.

As no one mentioned this at all the effectiveness goes up depending on the HP of the tame you are "feeding" it I find daedons are the best way as they have a high health stat

For anyone else seeking answers in future. Its normal desmodus taming method. Either keep blood packs in inventory and let it pick you and eat those.

Or put a bunch of sleeping and keep feeding yourself to it.

Tip: dont summon it in open with wild dinos. You wont get much attention and it will keep losing effectiveness.

When you kill something with the bat you get blood packs with blood

This thing literally picks me up when I was away from my screen. Luckily I had enough heath and it was just taming while it was caring me around and stuff so I suggest just standing where it’s at and just let you carry it away but if your health is not over 1000 then don’t do it.
