Tips & Strategies
Tropical wyverns spawn near the beach and have a water buff, like the spino, blood wyverns spawn in the forest that has red trees and also the red trees can give charcoal and blood wyverns can drain life from other creatures/ tames/ people and give your blood wyvern health if it is hurt at all. Ember crystal wyverns just breathe fire, blood and ember crystal wyverns are better for pvp. I recommend, if you have it, use the bone wyvern skin so they can’t tell what type of crystal wyvern it is. Good luck on taming them! (I play on Xbox so I can’t tame them :( )
Just figured this out: Heir Wyvern eggs hatch into normal variants of crystal Wyverns, but the level of the eggs relates to “taming effectiveness” when you tame a normal passive tame Wyvern. So, a 225 egg would be the equivalent of a 150 crystal Wyvern with a 100% perfect tame. I’ve found 195 eggs that hatch with 9,445 HP (official servers) and 358 Melee, but not all eggs have “better” stat rolls, it seems random but I’m researching it further. My technique was to build a large cage trap, steal the eggs then fly the parents back to the trap where I thin them out (and heal my blood Wyvern) by draining them of HP until 2 remained, then tranq them out one at a time and take their crystals, then finish them off, head to base to incubate the egg, then run off and passive tame a high level with my 15 crystals. Doing this brought in high level, high stat Wyverns for breed stock.
I found a tropical wyvern and got scared because I thought it was hostile
Primal Crystal DOES NOT spoil slower in preserving bins or refrigerators. ONLY CRYSTAL WYVERNS CAN SLOW THE SPOILAGE. Simply put them in their inventory. With that being said, it is best to get taming immediately after gathering the primal Crystal.
Crystal Isles will be available at the end of August for console players
The blood's attack heals themselves,
And the ember's gets stronger.
As you place the egg you bred on the shelf,
Your need for the tropical gets longer,
You rush out own your new tropeo
With a few parachutes at hand
Just in case you fall while taming
You need a good place to land.
Harvesting the primal crystals, and dashing on one's back
You try to feed it some, and remember something you lack
You need to be level 65 to get the tame you want to sack.
Look out for the crystal wyvern heirs that spawn in cause they can be very aggressive
For the people asking how to raise a baby without primal crystal all you have to do is tame a daeodon (Big pig) and use it's healing ability on the baby to keep it's heath up once the baby is in the teen stage it eats raw meat.
My dog died so i wanted to name my male wyvern beau (for a tropical he was a lovley dog)
Primal crystal only lasts 45 mins UNLESS you put it in a crystal wyvern's inventory. Your crystal wyvern can eat the crystals though, so put a stack of meat in it's inventory first. It will prioritize the meat. Primal crystal will last over 5 hours this way
To tame these just jump up on their back and lay down than when they start flying you stay on them you can also feed them in the air while on his back
How do you raise a baby crtstal wyvern? (I haven't see anyone talk about it so i hope this comment will encourage people to talk about it)
There not hostile don't worry! You can jump onto there back and feed them crystal, That's how you tame them. Just remember to have parachutes incase it knocks you off!
I don’t know if I’m stupid and it tells you this but I struggled with this for a bit and figured out that the wyverns of the same type Cant hurt each other which is something I figured out while shooting my blood wyverns blood at a blood wyvern for 15 minutes and it did nothing 😅
Hey guys, Its astro. I want to tell you a few things about the Crystal Wyvern and how to tame them.
Regulars
First, You want to be a level 75 or above.
Then, you get crystal or primal crystal from the hive (Primal crystal is advised, but if you cant do that, get regular crystal.)
Next, You will want to find yourself the wyvern you want. There are three variants, Tropical, Blood, and Ember. The tropicals spawn in the South West, Bloods spawn in the West/Central, and embers spawn in east/volcano zone.
After you find your wyvern, you want to jump onto its back (Get a good position so you don't fall!) And start feeding. Once you feed the wyvern it will start flying around in random directions. If you have a flyer with you, you should whistle follow on it so you don't loose it.
Lastly, Once you're finished taming your lovely new friend, you can take it back to your base or tame more beauties!
Additional Tips:
If you dont get positioned correctly on the wyvern and you fall off, don't panic. you can bring parachutes with you or a wing suit. If you do fall off and dont have any of those items, try to aim for water or a passive wild dinosaur. It will cushion your fall and you wont take as much damage.
Heirs
But Wait, there is another way on taming the Crystal Wyvern. The nest
In the nest you can go and grab eggs of Tropical, Blood, and Ember. Although, Ive never seen tropical eggs there, so if you want a tropical i do not recommend going there.
First, You want a good flyer. A wyvern or tropeognathus is probably the best option. Pterodactyl, Agry, and anything else are going to be way to slow and do not match the heirs' speed.
(This is if you play on official, if you dont, build a trap.)
Next, You want to find a trap and maybe take a few practices to see how it works, everyone builds different traps!
Then, You will find wyverns in the hive (possibly 20.) and lead it over to the trap, now, this is also a way to get primal crystal, trapping and knocking out.
After that, you will go back into the hive and fly around it to look for a nest. !! THEY ARE NOT ON THE INSIDE, ONLY ON THE OUTSIDE !!
After you find an egg thats a decent level (I'd say 150 - 225) you can lead all the wyverns to the trap and fly back to your base
Lastly, you hatch the egg and raise it to adult! Ta-Da! you now have a wyvern.
Additional Tips:
Wyvern heirs spawn in the bottom left corner of the desert, south of the griffin trench. Their levels are like a normal wyvern, they go to 20 - 225 (on official rates) and are aggressive. Once you pick up an egg from them, all the heirs in render radius of you will become hostile and try to attack you. These guys are also way faster than a normal wyvern. I'd recommend taking a Tropical Crystal Wyvern, because they get a speed boost in water which makes them faster than the heirs. If your wyvern is weighted down, i recommend dropping the items that would be possibly weighing you down. (Like meat, Talons (don't if you need for boss), Arrows, Bad loot from killing wyverns, ect.) These wyverns are easily detectable because they only spawn in the bottom of the desert and wear these alpha skulls on their heads.
Once you hatch the egg to the heirs, it will not spawn with the skull or look like an heir. it is a regular wyvern. The babies here do not eat milk, they eat Primal Crystal, Which I have discussed about getting.
Find (200-225)
Trap
Knockout
Take
Feed baby
Repeat
Well, I hope this tip helps out new people who don't understand it! (aka my tribemate lol) I will be making these tips on many other dinos just to get a better understanding on them. Bye! and have fun wyvern taming!
You can transfer these things and their eggs, ive done it before
Guys it's a passive tame with crystal or primal crystal but primal is a lot better. It is a very easy tame to get you can get at beginner level. Up this for the noobs
How to tame: wait till it lands then climb on its back. Feed it some tasty crystal (They prefer the sweet, sweet primal type) it will take off don't worry you won't fall. DON'T LOOK DOWN!!! Go into third person. After the first feed wait a thousand years and feed it again (he will start getting hungrier after the second munch) wait till it's tamed, and hop on and ride it. After eating tons of crystal (please don't try eating crystal at home... Seriously) he then wants some fresh raw meat. (Don't eat that either) And that's how you tame. Hope it helped! -wise wise man
