Tips & Strategies

What are tips for burrowbuck? Tips and strategies for burrowbuck in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
HOW TO TAME BURROWBUCK:
1: get about 10-15 rockarats to feed the burrowbuck.
2: than go up to it in ghille and you must be crouching when approaching or it will run away! And passively feed it the carrots.
3: Then it teleports away and repeat the process until tamed!
So don’t make a trap to tame it in it just doesn’t work
BONUS
Do NOT interact with the burrows around the burrowbuck because they are traps and you will get stuck.

Has 3 modes of burrows: Hidey hole, gateway, trap. Hidey hole is a bunker that auto decays in 2 days (Timer resets if you go inside, at least in single player) you can place anything that will fit other than Turrets, cannot fit a industrial forge for reference. You can deploy cryopods inside, enemies cannot place c4 inside burrow but can rocket inside, and can c4 the burrow entrance which will be outside, like the tek bunker. Players CAN enter no matter what, but the name will be hidden so they won’t know which of the 3 burrow types it will be. Only defense will be outside or a Dino inside at entrance.
Gateway is essentially a mini tp, you can have up to 6 anywhere across the map, you can select to travel between them like you would fast travel a bed, but you won’t drop anything and Dino’s near you will teleport with you, you can use this while heavy. Other players CAN use your gateway burrows, but it will be at random. Has a 1 hour refresh timer, teleport to your gateways to refresh timer.
Trap burrow has a 12 hour timer, any player that goes near your trap excluding allies will be blinded and trapped (like a bola except cannot jump) Around 10 seconds and can reduce timer by punching with a random chance of it reducing.
Outside of this Burrowbuck has only a melee attack, weak stats, invisibility for 7seconds, a far leap with holding spacebar as a charge, can jump two times in the air. That’s all I know for now.
On Val you can find them around Lat 74.2 and Long 87 just look for their burrowss. They are mean and babies seem to be as well.
DO NOT USE KIBBLE. Carrots give the same effectiveness and percentage, and allow more frequent feedings. Kibble feedings take longer for it to get hungry again
Passive Tame: Superior Kibble and above or Rockarrot for best results. Sneak to approach. Ghillie and Cactus Broth not necessary but may skip the jump away phase after feeding (during taming). Beware, Burrowbuck get aggressive when near their babies, which can make taming annoying. Falling into a burrow trap will also make you lose taming efficiency so watch out!
Here's all you need to do... put extraordinary kibble in last slot, slowly approach while coaching. Stopping every once and a while, then get close to butt, press feed and voila! Having ghili suit of course! You should be good!
Crouch and walk up to it then feed it. It will then do a burrow animation and will jump (invisible) in the opposite direction of where you’re standing. Can make it easier if you aim it toward a cliff so it will just bounce back to you instead of landing far away. Rinse and repeat. If you or a wild creature trigger its burrow traps it will lose taming effectiveness. If you trigger the burrow trap while it is close enough it will attack you.
These are like any passive tame as far as the action goes. Put the highest quality best taming food in your last slot and when close enough feed it
Now to get close enough to feed, you do need full grille and to be crouched and walk up behind it will let you get close enough.
Be prepared as it does jump/runaway after each feed, this is normal just track it back down and repeat.
It can jump into trees and cliff sides and 100s of meters away so be prepared to follow and kill other Dino’s it may get near.
I’ve noticed taming a 140 it was 1 min and 33 sec in between feeds
It gives you the ability to create up to 6 teleporters (burrows) in almost any location and with no distance limit that all link to eachother but have a 1 hour decay timer that resets upon use. It can create 2 more burrow types as well, 1 being it's hidey hole with a 2 day decay timer which is a small room underground for you to chill in. The third burrow type is a pitfall trap.
It has a triple jump ability, a long jump ability like that of the reaper or karakinos and a cloak/camouflage ability that enables you to be invisible for a few seconds. Stats do not affect duration of burrows.
You can encounter them in open plains on several maps i just dont have an exact list of maps
Using ghillie crouch up to bunny and using extraordinary kibble feed it and walk away it is the most effective way, I found having a desmo near by (not to close you’ll spook it) is handy if you’re taming anywhere near water because they tend to run everywhere an end up in water.
Also if it’s injured during taming you’ll loose all taming and have to start over, each time you do this the effectiveness goes down
I've had a lot of luck with flat grassy areas on Valguero
Just look for a mound of dirt on the ground; the burrowbuck (or burrowdoe!) will be nearby

Why everyone say you need gillie, you do not, naked or not, with berries, or carrots, crouch follow, if it turns around, stop moving untill it turns away from you, feed it as it stops, I tamed many, all on official small tribes while solo
No need for ghillie. Just crouch and approach it from 15m away. Before that you can even run in flak. Front or back does not matter. After feeding it will burrow and reappear 80-150m away. Can be fed again in an instant after burrowing.
Dont fall in it's trap. It will attack you. And if you hit it, it will reset taming progress, loosing taming effectiveness.
Bring flyer as it can reappear in other player base. Once it got stuck on a base roof, where I could not feed it or push it down.
Get rid of babies first or if you get close to them they will attack you so fast you wont know what killed you.
Carrots and kibble are the same. No difference. Plus carrots are cheaper. No need for ghillie. Just crouch walk and feed and back away so you don’t get trapped in the den when it runs after you feed it
Passive tame, carrots in last slot, sneak up and feed.
Gullie suit, cactus broth, crouch down, follow it, feed it and the you’ll have a new personal teleporter.
Passive tame like the Equis sneek up behind it and feed it kibble. If it sees you it goes underground.
