This thing is a titanaboa on steroids, if you see it’s tail popping out of the ground, try not to get near it unless you have a few strong fighters. If the gas ball hits your tame, get out of the cloud of poison it will probably kill you, except if you have a hazmat suit on.

If you see a weird plant with a bunch of dirt around and you just started Don't go near it that is what a basilisk is

Basilisk are super easy to tame on fjordur. You can find them on Balheimr (volcano island). place a stone foundation on top of a shinehorn (found in abberation cave on midgard). Drop rockdrake eggs around the foundation. Use a desmodus or pteranodon to lead the basilisk to the foundation and it will agro on the goat but not be able to hit it. And it will eat the eggs.

Everyone is saying these are soo hard to tame, well as soon as you've got a male and female wyvern you can breed away and get the basilisk you want

You can tame it with fertilized voidwyrm eggs

Taming a basilisk in crystal isles is utterly impossible if there are no rock drakes no magmasuars and we cannot use wyvern eggs... what do we do left? Slaughter them all? Snakes can still be cute when deadly alright? Stay safe around these giant wor.s dear survivors!

How to get a perfect tame on these guys?

1) Don’t lose aggro, taming effectiveness will drop quickly. Once you stop hearing boss music, dismount and get right back up in-front of its face.

2) Same goes for burying^, pillars and doorways placed on foundations will do the trick, avoid using solid walls to stay visible to the basilisk.

3) Eggs. They take a long time between feeds, as long as it is aggroed, you are doing nothing wrong. You can use a mount to drop eggs (from your own inventory) to it safely.

4) Taming it on foot? Bring stimulant & extra water, their bite still does decent torpor damage even if you wear a hazmat suit. Take a few steps back after you get hit.

Basilisks are one of my top favourites in ark, their zig-zag movement & it’s burrowing ability makes it really unique, I wish it could defend itself better from behind though.

Approach with Drake so it doesn't aggro, surround in Stone Dinogateways to trap it. Kill a nearby creature and leave its corpse, aggro Basilisk by hopping off and remounting Drake, run away to de-aggro. Basi should aggro onto corpse we left. Toss eggs and tame, kill and leave a new corpse before the first expires, rinse and repeat as needed.

It is a passive tame all you need is 16 pillars 4 foundations and 4 ramps place the foundations to make a big square then pillars around the outside of all foundations and then have add the ramps on one side and lure it in once it is it will not go into the ground and start taming, if you need wyvren eggs or magma eggs I suggest fire wyvren eggs because if you tame them on fjord it only takes 2 runs with a 5 minute break between to let them respawn to tame Max level tame make sure to let it eat one egg at a time must be dropped in the middle of the trap so it will eat the egg

When taking instead of worrying about it burrowing just make a trap syntac made a nice trap if you go to his channel you can see how to make it but they can’t burrow over a foundation is the point

You can only tame a Basilisk with fertilized eggs !! Also make sure you drop them from your inventory and not your dinos inventory. Then just lure the Baslisk to the egg you dropped.

Recent update/fix? causes the Basilisks to lose agro after a period of time. So taming high levels can end up being problematic, especially on single rates. If this happens or cant keep its attention, lure into a 4x9x3 pen.

Use a stone gate on the other end so u and ur rav can escape and stone door ways, three high, filling the two open foundations next to the dino gateway. You can stand, sit on ur rav or use a glow pet OUTSIDE of pen on the door way side. I put my pet in a foundation incase it spit(it never did).

It seems the basilisk has a “basket” range it can reach eggs out of. I tamed a 145 in this trap, 10eggs plus 2 for error so 12 eggs, 3 wide four spaces deep(inside)starting at the head of the trap(stone gate end). 145 vday, single rates, Official.

Note: I used beh get sets on the length part for walls, incase i would have to let it out and reset or got stuck on my rav.

Another post mentioned 4m 20s eat time, I saw the same, some variations but mostly on time.

Can I use my rock Drake eggs or do they need to be wild eggs?

For the people who tried the trick the people in comments are spamming didnt work, you actually have to throw the pet on the ground and place a metal foundation (others dont work) OVER IT (yes you can place it over a shoulder pet) then switch to block and continue taming the snek

The Basilisk has weight reduction on stone down to 12.5 weight units per stack. I tamed a 150 and then dumped all points into weight. Now I have a 10,000 weight basilisk that I can slot cap with stone. I don’t even use Argies anymore for stone around my base, especially when feeding element dust gatchas. I’d rather have a slot cap than fly.

They are much easy to maneuver in first person, that's a first.

If you're playing on a modded server where it can't kill you in a couple hits then I suggest putting stimberries in one of your slots because this thing will knock you out and then kill you while keeping your torpor up
