Tips & Strategies

These guys are the absolute best! I tamed a max lvl 150 baryonyx and bred it with my lvl 152 baryonyx and got an OP, 78% imprinted baryonyx. Her name is Moon. As of right now she is lvl 234, with 8,500 hp, 700% melee damage, and 135 movement speed. She can obliterate almost any Dino on land and sea, including rexes and spinos. Also, if you get a high level, you get of added stats per level up, and they level up insanely fast. They are the absolute BEST cave mount IMO (except for the Northwest cave, otherwise known as the cave of the sky lord, because it can not fit in the entrance, like all other cave mounts), because their long neck allows you to reach the flying dangers of the cave and it protects you from the arthroplura’s spit balls. That combined with their attack speed and amazing damage output makes it my favorite cave mount. Just watch out in the lava cave, because you can easily get pushed off into the lava or fall in the lava due to a bad jump. I am about to try out the cave of the strong, but I have no doubt in my mind that I will demolish it. It has one attack on land, which is his bite attack, along with an option to make it roar, but like the spino’s roar this does nothing. On water they have their bite attack and a tail spin that stuns nearby dinos(use button that you use to jump on land to use tail spin). On top of that, they can jump, which makes it a good travel mount, and once again, an amazing cave mount. This and the spino are my two favorite dinos as of right now, and if you are debating about getting one of these, GET ONE RIGHT NOW.
Sorry for the long rant

I would argue that this dinosaur is the strongest mount that can fight on both land and in the water. I had one that was bred multiple generations, full imprint, purple saddle. I named him Fury to represent all of the anguish I experienced leading up to his creation. He was able to handle anything I threw at him with ease. People were surprised to hear that I was easily able to kill both squids and alpha carnos with him. Never got to attempt an alpha Rex. He met his match when I attempted an alpha squid. RIP Fury.
WARNING They only eat fish meat. When hactching, be ready with multiple fridges of fish meat. Raw is fine the first couple of hours because they are RAVENOUS and it wont have time to spoil
NEVER and I mean NEVER FIGHT IN WATER. They will stun and all you can do is wait as you see this thing kill your lv 132 triceratops. That has killed rexs. Rip Trixie the triceratops Jan 2020- Mar 2020.
Praise to Barry (Who was killed by a meg while 1v5 ing defending me ). This man was fast and agile enough to take me around the map, and I got a good health one so it could tank while I tranqed from it's back or ran. I got the entire border of the map on this man. There a pretty easy tame too just fill it with tranq arrows and they EAT FISH BTW.
Like for Barry may he rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏
This dino is very useful for caves. Heres how you tame it! Yiu need to build a 2 × 2 stone trap with doorways. Its kinda fast, so beware! Whatever you do, dont approach it in water while its swimming, because its special attack is a tail whip that will stun you for 10 seconds. It eats fish meat and required regular kibble (on pc and console) and pachyrhino kibble (on old phone ark). I really hope this helps. Good luck taming, fellow dino nerds
Baryonyx are quick like Allosaurus and do just as much damage (but don't get a pack bonus). They don't use oxygen for swimming and can sprint in the water. Right click in the water does an AoE stun that lasts about 10 sec. Their 'C' is a... Taunt? They also jump and you can fire a weapon from their back.
I have played Ark for about five years, and for four years people told me that these guys weren’t worth crap. But one day about a year ago I was playing PvP with my friends and I decided to tame one to see if it really was as bad as people said. I instantly knew they were my new favorite tame and I started breeding; I became the most powerful person on the server.- Allen
Night and day difference when you use this thing in the water. The stun attack can immobilize EVERYTHING. I use my bary, whose name is Tiny, to traverse the island quickly, as it’s faster than most things out there, and can get across water without a second thought. Tiny is very powerful, and has protected me from various threats and has also stood in place when my icthy and sarco died. I also used Tiny for the only cave I’ve completed. Probably why I’m not scared of arthropluera yet😂 up for Tiny!
Can be carried by an Argie...
Can we talk about the fact that I just saw one of these guys kill and eat a spino of the same level both at full health before the fight 🤔🤔
Great for cave runs. Can shoot of the back of them. Stun attack, bite attack, swim great and run great. Remember no need to sprint jump in caves, just walk forward and jump. It has a long jump. Eats fish very important. If you Dino leash it in water with fish can be set to find fish by itself
This is the ultimate mobility Dino for caves, land, and the ocean! They run faster than a raptor and swim faster than a spino? Yes! They fit into almost every cave? Yes! The baryonx has infinite oxygen, can jump, can swim, and can stun almost any water creature. On top of all of that, it is not even that hard to tame, and the saddle unlocks at level 49. A must tame for caves and a great mount in general.

Here’s how to tame a bary
Step 1 get raw fish meat or raw prime fish meat
Step 2 get a cross bow or a bow (I used a cross bow )
Step 3 find a bary and get on high ground so it doesn’t get you (you can build a trap but I just did the high ground)
Step 4 knock it out
Step 5 put the raw fish meat or raw prime fish meat in its inventory
Step 6 wait till it tames
Now you have a bary I hope this helps:)
Very useful creature, I knocked out three argies a Rex, and an archaeopteryx while on its back on the mountains by the redwoods, I also killed a Rex with it (it is only level 38) and 15-20 raptors and sabertoothes within probably 5-10 minutes. If you are wondering why I knocked out three argies read my depressing tips under newest, Argentavis. My Baryonx is my best tame on this profile. FYI if you want to tame a Rex make sure you kill any Dino’s it aggros first. A deodicoris (I know I misspelled it) killed my knocked out Rex.
One of these guys killed the most powerful phiomia I’ve ever seen
