Great dino for caves... There are lots and lots of other dinos to tame, but this is the og cave monster... Always take two when you're serious about exploring... Imprinted and mate boosted dinos are the best..! That being said, I tamed one of these bad boys with fish and it lost effectiveness so fast... I tamed a level 150 with fish, I starved it until it insta tamed to about 80% on vanilla official settings... It would have gotten 75 levels at 100% effectiveness, but I only got 37 levels with abysmal effectiveness... I've yet to see a dinos effectiveness drop so quickly... Maybe just because it was on 1x taming and I usually tame during events... Anyways it was a pain to capture... I couldn't get it to follow me with rare flowers and you certainly don't want to get in the water with it... Now to find a suitable mate...

Okay, so this thing eats any fish meat... then why does it eat me?
Dont fight it in the water unless you enjoy being stun locked and drowning to death.
When simply crossing a river, a lvl 85 killed me and my 9 raptors. I was coming back from hunting with this raptor pack, shredding paracers, therizinosaurs, and other very strong creatures. All it took was one bary in water to just stun lock all 9 of them to death, and they couldnβt fight back. I respawned and managed to kill the bary on land with my Iguanadon, a quick and easy fight, took it out in a few hits.. The difference between land and water with these guys is insane. That water stun is no jokeπππ I canβt even be mad, but Rest in Peace to Scamp, Atronach, Pyro, Smiley, Hectic, Raptor, Raptor, Raptor, and Raptor.
Lost 6 raptors to a Baryonyx stun in the shallow end of a river, a and a swathe of piranhas.
RIP to Mars, Mercury, Io, Venus, Neptune, and Pluto.
NEVER and I mean NEVER FIGHT IN WATER. They will stun and all you can do is wait as you see this thing kill your lv 132 triceratops. That has killed rexs. Rip Trixie the triceratops Jan 2020- Mar 2020.

Can we talk about the fact that I just saw one of these guys kill and eat a spino of the same level both at full health before the fight π€π€
(I play on mobile) ok so I just started a new ark world and I have a pretty good start, I have a moschops and a few other little dinos, but a baryonyx is super close to my base, should I tame it? Or should I kill it?

2 Baryonyx died during the aquatic war at solo player. One was killed by a Baryonyx while the dead bodies of Megapirhana, 2 Kaprosuchus, and 1 Sarcosuchus float around. The other one was killed by another Baryonyx stunning my Baryonyx in the water and then adding some extras by attracting 3 Cnidaria. A memory that remains in my head.
