Tips & Strategies

What are tips for argentavis? Tips and strategies for argentavis in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Cypher's Tip
An Argentavis is a portable Smithy as well as a transporter. They have many weight reduction bonuses that will help you, should you ever need to move around and require a Smithy or you just need to transport some items.
They can pick up most creatures provided that they are not twice it's size. They are one of the most useful tames of all time. They are not a great creature for speed but they are efficient at transporting.
Taming one will be difficult. Having a Longneck Rifle with a Tranq Darts is best. The kibble is great but Mutton and Prime Meat works best. Be prepared to give it a chase once it runs off after it's Torpo is on above 50%. They tend to fly off very high.
If you plan on giving it a chase, make suee you have a mount that can outrun it first. A Direwolf or any other land mounts that can shoot while mounted is minimum.
Good luck and happy hunting.
So i was looking for a rex for trex arms for my wall mount then i saw a LEVEL 110 ARGENTAVIS up if i should tame it down to murder it without mercy
1-2 tranq darts in head and he’s knocked, go get some meat and kill some of those jellyfish and get bio toxin then put the bio toxin in it and feed it until the argies hunger is on 1000 or less then put all your meat in it
Fly Safe
Pumping the health stat on them creates arguably one of the highest damage taker and giver when fighting big Dinos. A high level argy can easily take down an allosaurus, Rex, Diplo, bronto, and many many more. I usually like to get a high level one and go eliminate a few big dunks in the chalk hills on Valguero

An Argentavis is a very easy beginner tame. To tame it you will have to have:
-crossbow or bow
-at least 10 tranq arrows
-3+ raw fish meat (prime works better)
-20+ lvls
-health upgraded at least 7 times
Argentavis spawn on almost all ARK maps, and are very common, so it should be relatively easy to find one. They look like bulky eagles that prowl around on the ground or, more commonly, swoop around in the sky. Here’s what you need to do to tame one.
1: Find an Argentavis
2: Load the tranq arrows into your bow (if you haven’t already done it
3: Take aim at the Argentavis and fire
Here’s a tip. If you find one and it’s scavenging, that is the best possible time to shoot at it. Do not shoot at it while it is fighting other dinosaurs, because if you do and knock it unconscious, the other dino/s will demolish it. It is best to catch it alone while it is eating, because there is a chance it will not chase you.
4: Run as the Argentavis chases you (if it doesn’t, shoot again)
5: When it stops chasing you, go back and shoot at it again
6: Repeat until unconscious
7: Put fish in Argentavis inventory
8: Wait until tamed
9: You have an Argentavis!
IRL Dino Facts
Argentavis Magnificens, an extinct species, was one of the largest birds to ever live. They lived in the Late Miocene in early Argentina and had an enormous wingspan of 5.09 to 6.5m. Argentavis lived off a diet of carrion (dead animals) and their territories might have been around 500 square metres. Another extinct bird, Pelagornis Sandersi, had a wider wingspan that Argentavis, and their wingspan would have measured about 7 to 7.4m. Argentavis was a soaring bird. Its lifestyle would have been very much like the Andean Condor, a modern-day non-extinct type of condor. Argentavis might have used mountain slopes to take off, because the muscles in its chest were not built for much flapping. Argentavis laid 1 to 2 eggs every year, each one smaller than an ostrich egg despite their size. The young became independent at 16 months old, but they were not full grown until they turned 12. Because of its size, Argentavis would have had no natural predators, so most died of sickness or old age. Size estimates are:
Wingspan: 5.09-6.5 m (16 ft 8 in - 21 ft 4 in)
Length: 3.5 m (11 ft 6 in)
Height: 1.5-1.8 m (4 ft 11 in - 5 ft 11 in)
Weight: 70-72 kg (154 lb - 159 lb)

While slower than a ptera, they're pretty useful. They can pick up more dinosaurs and can kill them while flying, allowing you to pick off raptors and sabres and other small horrors with relative safety. Keep an eye on their stamina, just like a ptera you don't want to be forced down into a death trap
When battling one of these try to break it's turn radius therefore they won't be able to hit you
If your getting chased by argys just kill something small and the Argus will go for the corpse. since they are scavengers, they that’s your time to run away
If you build I trap with four Dino gateways and on both sides put door you can trap them as long as you lead them in a close the door behind them. After that search up how many tranqs it’s gonna take to knock it out then do like 3 less then that amount. Afterwards bring a dead body to it and let it eat it. Once it’s done eating it should have a green aura then you knock it out. This makes it so it’s food drains faster.
Found commonly on the dead island to the far northeast of the map me and my tribemate crafted a raft and set sail to the dead island from the southern islets it only took a few minutes before we got there my tribemate ran of to get some red treasure while I tamed the argy it was super easy I just shot it with my gg tranq arrow (mod easy taming) fed it some meat and boom bada boom it was tamed unfortunately our raft got destroyed so we had to make another one after that we had our argy! More about easy taming adds gg tranq arrow rapidly increases torpor and drains food available at level 1 for 0 engram points!
I had this argy I tamed and named him Mario. I didn’t even get to put a saddle on him before another argy came and started to attack us. Mario attacked him and they went into the sky. I tried to get him but then I got thirsty. I went to get water and when I came back, he wasn’t there. I searched for days and still couldn’t find him. I hope he still out there....
I’m gonna be honest, these things are the best! I mean, I saw this thing on Dododex and did some research and found out it is really good. I tame a lvl 20 and her and I were best friends. They have INSANE weight reduction, they have great health, and great stamina. They aren’t the fastest, but they will get you to where you need to go with only a couple stops. Mine is now like lvl 85 and I use her to kill alpha raptors and alpha carnos. Keep in mind this guy only has 15 hundred health. Overall, this Dino is a wonderful tame and is easy to tame, it has many uses and is hard to kill once you get a saddle for. I don’t care if you like, but I hope this helped. ;)

If you want to tame one in a safe area, aggro it with a pteranodon (because they are faster fliers than argents) and lure them to a safer area
ex. Empty Beach area. Be sure the argent is close behind you by flying slowly and when it gets a little too close, speed fly a bit then slow down, this also saves stamina. The argent might lose interest every so often but then just turn back and aggro them again. Once you reach the area, land the pteranodon, let the argent get close and tranq it
If you want to tame one instantly it can be pretty easy to do, while you run from the argy, go past a corpse (it will also eat another argy corpse which is useful) and when it harvests the body it will have effects on its head. This means it’s in Rapid Regeneration, knock it out quick while this is happening. Then when it’s out, it will have no food and take instantly. Now you have an argy!
