Don't go near an argent early game. Shall it agro onto you at a low level try find a weak dino, kill it, leave the corpse and run the same direction your running. They will be distracted by the corpse.

If you do not have a quetzal than this is the best bird for metal runs.

How crafting argentavis saddle

If you want to quickly tame one use tranq arrows WHILE it’s using that regen aura it eats food extremely quick taking about 10 seconds to tame

Put a saddle on one of these, they become a smithy.

Utility of the argentavis:

Jack of all trades: decent stat distribution, good attack, utility, and stamina.

Weight/long distance travel: high stamina, high stamina efficiency, and high weight stat

Material carrying: weight reduction on many materials like metal

Taming: has good attack to clear area and good health in case of getting assaulted by carnivores. Has weight to carry traps. Can also fly away in case of danger.

Regen: heals astoundingly fast after eating a corpse

Carrying dinos: able to grab mid-sized Dino’s like ankys and parasaurs.

Disadvantage:

Speed: much slower than other flyers like pteranodons

Difficulty to tame: found in dangerous areas (redwoods, snow, mountains, carno island)

Saddle: unlocked at a fairly high level of 62, and requires a lot of chitin/keratin

Here is how to tame an argie from a very scared cat player:

Get 3-4 gate ways and put enough distance between them for you to get through but not an argie line them up so it looks like this from a side view |||| next grab 2 gates and put them on both ends of the trap meaning the two on the very outside keep one closed and one open.

To trap: aggro the argie and lead it in the trap then close the open door then escape through the gaps between the gates.

Knockout: use tranq darts or arrows to knock out pay attention to the argies health using a magnifying glass is helpful so you don't kill the argie

Taming: argie is a carnivore so use any type of meat best to use mutton or prime meat or kibble if you have any but normal meat will work.

Uses: carrying medium creatures useful for metal gathering during to high weight

Argies do little damage to structures. If you're on the go and find a high lvl one you could use wood gates to trap it in stead of stone. They are lighter and faster to craft on the go.

I would suggest using a long neck with tranq darts to KO as fast as possible.

My all time most used tame.

Easy to tame just let it follow u and hit it with tranq darts.

To tame a Argy (argentavis) you will need 4 gateways, 2 Gates, about 20-30 tranqs (for 150 argy, with using a corssbow), safe place and prime meat. Firat, place a trap made of those structures written higher, find an Argy, trap it then shoot with tranq Arrow (better shoot in head, because it will gain 1.5x multiplier. I prefer feeling it firstly a dead dino, then knock it out. Feed it raw prime meat, because it gives better taming process.

I watched a YouTuber knock out a level 27 argy using like 10 tranq arrows and a bow.

Argentavis is hands down one of the most important tames you or your tribe will need early game. It’s an amazing workhorse tame. They have:

1.) Huge carrying capacity. weigh scales insanely allowing it to carry well over 10k with a balanced build and easily double to triple that if you min-max.

2.) Stamina for days. Easily fly corner to corner in one go as long as they aren’t encumbered.

3.) can lift and carry smaller Dino’s. Anything smaller than a Carno, basically can be lifted by an Argy. Most notably, Anky and Doeds for mining. Allowing for easy solo/duo mining.

4.) Also allows you to transport smaller Dino’s to a safe spot your taming. Especially stuff like snails.

5.) good for combat and harvesting primes early on.

6.) You can use it to solo tame a quetzal.

Biggest drawback to an Argy is it’s slower than other flyers, like Ptera and Wyverns. But, still faster than a Quetz. But for what you get it’s an easy trade off.

When breeding, it is possible to breed without air conditioning by only having the egg out at night and staring at it with a torch. Gets kinda dull but works! I did this in the footpaw area and it worked just fine I got triplets :)

I keep seeing people saying you need a bunch of stuff, but here’s how I did it as a level 56 single player in only hide armor.

Get a flying mount and find an argy (theyre in the snow and tall mountains) , then get close to one (just out of the Agro zone). If you get too close and it chases you, don’t worry, it won’t chase too far! Now that you’re near it, smack it. Just with anything you have. Charge it and smack it. Now that it’s angry shoot it while moving backwards… it doesn’t do much damage as long as it’s below level 40 (on mobile)… that’s basically it! It’ll tame with raw meat (the ratio of food per level is around 1:2) it’ll only take 10-15 tranq arrows, and you only need one narcotic! That’s all!

Steps on how to tame a argentavis:

1. Build 4-5 stone gate frames place them in a straight line place then distant but not to distant or the Argentavis will fly through the top, build 2 reinforced gates and place one at the end leave the other one in your hot bar.

2. Get the argentavis attention, make him follow you into the trap and place the other gate then run through the side.

3. Use around 50 tranqs just in case you miss

Use a primitive crossbow.

4. There carnivores so they eat meat mutton/prime will work or kibble if you have!

There is a easier way to do this.

Just shoot the bird while he is following you when his torpor starts to get High he will try to fly away so trap might be better whichever way you prefer! -Boycicle

Better have low level argy than no argy at all!!! Even low levels have great stamina, not mentioning that their ability to pick up dinos! Trust me, any argy would make your life easier
