If you keep thinking "oooooh my ascendant metal pick is better than an ankylo" brother just hit a target dummy with both see what's better

An ankylo (leveled in melee) and a quetz or argy (leveled in weight) is the single best way to farm metal. Just pick the anky with your bird and drop it on metal rocks. Then get on the anky and hit the metal rocks. The ankylo’s weight does not matter since the bird carries all

These things are great for resource gathering, the higher melee the more resources you get so upgrade that.

I ligit found the anky from the pic. Had exactly same colors 😮

They are found in herbivore island a lot so if you go there and mine the rich metal rocks with him you are sure to get STACKS

If you don’t want any trouble and found a lot of struggle to find it (even tho it’s ez) just go to the herbi island and you would find 2 and without any creature ruining your tame

You know why I love this guy? Well it's not so obvious, but i am here you tell you my tactic for collecting metal. So take argentavis and lift your anky to places with a lot of rocks, because he is GREAT for collecting metal.Plus he is great for defense, because of his attacks. Your welcome and for taming just shoot it in face while running backwards. (They are pretty slow,you can also feed it with any berries).

Not sure how many people know this and before you needed someone to help with this but in ascended at least you can pick up your anky with an argy and if you stop the anky close enough to the metal rock it will hit it on it's own... you only need to land to dump the stone... 🤌🤌

They spawn on mountains and in the snow biome.

I took a short trip to herbivore island on my raft bearing tranqs narcotic and carrots I tamed an anky but then the question became how do I get it back to base so i put on the saddle rode on to my raft and came home with the new anky

You can carry the anky with you’re Argy and get close to any iron resource and he will automatically hit the metal or resources. Pretty cool for getting resources that are on the side of mountains that you can’t walk in.

One word. METAL. This guy can easily gather tons of it.

If you have a steep incline, take the high ground and you can just stand there and unload without having to run.

Make sure to at least have a bow before you tame one of these, don't run in with a slingshot or your fists. They might be slow but they're powerful.

Won't attack you unless you attack them first Ankylosaurus is basically a slow tanky dino when facing an ankylo ranged weapons are your best chance their high health pool means their hard to beat but even a basic bow and arrow can kill them if you can't fight then run they deal considerably high damage and can destroy your basic wooden shield in 5-9 hits of it's tail melee combat isn't advised but if you can manoeuver constantly and attack it's blind spot you got a chance

I was hunting stuff with my Sarco on Herbivore Island waiting for my twin Rexes to get ready for more imprinting. I was using the Target whistle and I whistled for my Sarco to attack a Brontosaurus. Long story short, the Ankylosaurus I keep there for metal mining heard the whistle and started to attack the Brontosaurus. The Sarco is very capable of killing Brontos, but it couldn’t kill the Brontosaurus in time to save the Ankylosaurus. One up = one F in the chat for my Ankylosaurus that served me for about 200 days

More melee is always better, but be aware that when you break around 540-560% melee you can only hit the rich noses of metal once, you lose a lot of metal that way. Keep pumping melee past that though and you more than make up for it with how much metal you get from the lower quality modes

They collect while being held by a flyer ( I use Argie) so you don’t technically need to craft a saddle. Just fly near metal rocks and it will smack it automatically (same goes for doedicurus)

Both the anky and doed will attack faster in the water. Flint and stone along the river is an easy way to go about it.

Just run backwards and shoot. When it gets close, run away and keep shooting
