Leviathan’s Lullaby

Chapter 1

Written and conceived by a pearlescent dragon (PD :3 )

Hymns of wind brushed through the dense evergreen with a gentle touch, the fleeting reminiscent of whispers carried in the arms of the wind. Trees on-looked the horizon, watching over the landscape. A happy day. The sun’s warming embrace smothered the land with a bright light. Faraway mountains slumbered quietly, their backs prickled with brush, bush and branches.

Just outside of the treeline, the golden field of sand that stretched far upon the landscape, dotted with small stones and driftwood. White seafoam covered the beach with a thin layer of white, before receding back to the deep blue. Small offcuts from the nearby streams giggled and trickled as they roamed their way through the land. Aerwyna walked through the brush, stopping at the tree-line . Her feet bore into the small lining between the beach and the forest, glancing back to see.

“Aerwyna, don’t run off so quick!” Her mother towed behind, eventually followed by her father. The two perched at the treeline, watching her with care and attention.

But she didn’t listen, running toward the shore as if it would save her. Laughing as she jumped into the cooling waves, splashing around with childish innocence. Dunking her head under the water, and as she arose -

Nothing. Void . Her parents were gone, missing from her view. The once deep aquamarine the sea had glimmered now glinted a dark ichor-y black. And it felt like sludge. Trekking ‘water’, Aerwyna called out desperately.

“MA?! PA?” She splashed, barely able to keep her head above water from the viscous liquid.

“Sleep.” A pair of glistening white eyes appeared under the surface.

“We aren’t eachother anymore.”

Aerwyna jolts awake abruptly, whipping her head around to try and view around inside the pitch-black room she had been currently residing in. . What was that, another broken phrase of a dream?! She slammed her calloused fist against the wall, a fed-up look in her eyes, as if she couldn’t get just any angrier..

“OBVIOUSLY, huh. I can’t seem to get a single bit of night’s kip till this stupid ‘leviathan’ lad meanders its way into my dreams and ruins it. GREAT!” Swinging her fists wildly and angrily, like how an equus had kicked Bali off because he accidentally kicked her in the side. Even thinking about it brought a small, amused chuckle under her breath.

“Aerwyna!”

A knock at her door broke her out of her little anger fit, swinging her legs across the mussed-up bedsheets she had evidently kicked to the edge during her fitful dream. Running a clammy hand through her hair, she half-walks, half blindly stumbles to where she believes is the door, over to the door, and with slight resistance from the rust beginning to form on the hinge due to the sea spray , raised an eyebrow.

“Whaddya want.” She grumbled, still a bit fuming over her whole fiasco of her on-loop dreams, especially how it always turned out - “we aren’t the same anymore” What sort of narcoberries had someone fed her whilst asleep to have a dream like that, especially ON REPEAT?!

“Stop slamming your fist, your disrupting the water here and ‘round us. We can’t lose ANOTHER ship and us, especially if we keep losing more and more land and VALUABLE RESOURCES, to that ‘thing’ that’s came.. We don’t know what’s out there, but we gotta atleast track all of these territory-takers down.” A cold, grovelling in its own title voice answered. Obviously it just had to be Callivar.

“Captainnn. What a GRRRREAT time to see you! Absolutely fiiinnntastic, huh.” Aerwyna crossed her arms, only worsening the tension between the two with the stupid pun that she tried to make sound even remotely funny, but resorting away from the ‘comedy’ side to start leaning against the slowly rotting doorframe of the weathered ship. Her right eyelid twitched with the telltale sign of her nearly overflowing anger - like a creaky old dam that could and would burst.

“Aerwyna, we cannot spend another day feuding. There is a WAR of nature going on and we need to find a new place for everyone to live. This isn’t just about your stupid hissy fits your mo-“

“My mother isn’t here no more, IDIOT.” She snapped back, her eyelid twitching a tad bit more. She really couldn’t handle this at - she checked the derelict implant in her wrist, internally scolding herself for forgetting hers never worked. It had never worked and she never knew why, maybe hers was faulty or something…? She couldn’t put her finger on it on why. She had no way to even figure it out anyways. Why?

“-…As I was saying, it’s not about your hissy fits. You are one person, and our tribe is bigger than one. The majority over the minority, right?” He raised both of his bushy and in dire need of an actual haircut. eyebrows, waiting for an answer. After a little bit of Aerwyna spacing out, he clicked his fingers infront of her zoned out face. “Are we gonna have to get you off those narcotics, because your acting all.. weird when you get them. Especially when you need sleep.”

“Uh-huh, im actuslly just awesome. But, I was only thinking is all! An explorer needs to be ready for anything across their path, that’s what Pa said before! .” She rolls her eyes at the attempt for Calliver trying to take the narcotics - because she needed them for sleep. The only thing that put her to sleep was that stupid viscous green liquid, but atleast it wasn’t poison., Responding to his ‘majority over the minority’ schmitz halfheartedly, turning back into the shadowy room and slamming the door, making a beeline for her desk, or where she thought it was - and it was.

Papers, over papers, over more papers of sketched dinos littered the small board over the desk, all of them different to eachother. Settling down in the old chair, one that was probably a new banquet for the insects that had recently stowed away on the ship. Adjusting a small lantern to bathe the darkened room in an auburn light, which helped her see where the charcoal she had recently been using to sketch down dinosaurids they had seen from over the shore. One had recently caught her eye. It was a brilliant black, with spines down its body. She, or the crew, had seen it bucking it through a nearby forest, skidding to a stop just before it hit the light. As if it was weak to it?. It looked like something out of your worst nightmare, she had concluded recently. But before she could have peeked at it better from the vantage of her spyglass, it had vanished. So she just put it up to her imagination to fill in the gaps, which it had nicely she thought. If only she hadn’t been blind in her right eye, that she may have been able to see the things better.

*watches the event with a bucket of Popcorn in hand*

Also a sorta update on Exoplanet 2, it’s still in development BUT;

1. Seepers, stinky slimefish, hotheaded hammers and a few others are now modelled!!!! Yes, theyre being added!!

2.It will be Unreal Engine 4 now due to the graphic changes being out of my skill set and so I don’t overdo it.

3. It will most likely be on steam first, so PC, then if it gains popularity will go onto console due to a bigger fanbase being on steam than console

4. It’ll basically be subnautica, rain world, grounded, and ark in a big mashup of flowers, deadly rains, massive beasts and ascension! Oh and there’ll be some changes to dinosaurs that may be in the game

5. Depending on how my schedule(s) are for the next… while? It may be able to be ohr to the public in a… while?? I dunno. I am still only one person, after all!

6 (and a small explanation for why my absence had and has still been fluctuating on here), is because I’ve been trying to develop my game! And there’s also an entirely different-ish map now because I got bored of the last one ((basically imagine aberration but both underground and underwater))

7. The gameplay will take a LONG while once playing! So I’ll say my goal is about 40-50 hours, which won’t sound too much but that’s like PRO-LEVEL gaming stuffs.

8. Im gonna put the game at 20-30 GBP, so it probably will be different if your country’s stuff is different.

Chapter 20

Ugh. You know, when like, the whole world feels against you? Yeah. That’s literally how I feel right now.

Keeping my sanity alright is hard. I don’t even know if I AM sane. I’ve just been having so much trouble with compression between reality and my dreamlike trance. Do I have issues? Do I blame it on that stupid centipede woman who called me a hairless ape? No. Not really.

I trudged through Pearlescent Skeletons, careful not to trigger anything to attack. Clicking could be heard around me. Great. Rhyniostingers. I looked above me, the massive shadows passing by. I hid below a rock, as I waited for them to leave. One of the two landed on the ground, it’s multiple wings raised as if it was gonna fly. The other then came down, as they engaged in a massive brawl. Well I think. Screeches and hissed could be heard, but if I emerged my little head above I’d probably be decapitated in mere nanoseconds.

As I turned the fire on in my blade, the flames licked the blade hungrily as I waited for anything to emerge. But, as I soon realized, two yellow eyes watched me. They weren’t human, but weren’t as beastly as some of the ones I had encountered..?

The thing made an unintelligible noise, as it emerged from the shadows. Thanatos backed away, pointing his blade at it mercilessly as it jumped back in terror. It was a masked Scarvolender, as it retreated back into the shadows. The two Rhyniostingers could be heard fighting above, the incessant screeching and hissing still filling the air as if it was a war. Amidst all this, the small crackle of the fire sounded almost homely compared to this. It was as if the fire had somehow formed a small atmosphere of comfort around it.

Chapter 13

“A homosapien, on the metal flooring of my chamber?”

That’s the voice that echoed through the walls. Looking around, I couldn’t see any sort of movement to hint at what communicated with me.

“Who are you?!” I exclaimed loudly, pointing my spear threateningly.

“Godlike in comparison to you, hairless ape.” The voice replied, obviously not bothered with my futile insult.

I searched around. Nothing except for the midnight black walls and pillars of the place I had approached to. The sky blue veins of the machine to pulse an emanating glow. A movement echoed through the room.

“Who’s there?!” I shouted back.

“You all are rather.. unevolved compared to your ancestors.” The voice echoed back, a hint of venom at the word ‘ancestors’. “Keep going with your vile words and questions that don’t need to be answered.”

I looked around again. Until I realized I was surrounded. The veins were pulsing with a blue glow, oblivious to the fact that a weird voice communicated with me through the walls.

A scuttling sound could be heard. I turned instantly, to find a massive centipede looking form, staring right back at me. Though it wasn’t natural ; metal covered it with wires as if its insides. One massive lifeform, if you could call it that.

“Do you have your answer now, little ape?” The voice echoed from the centipede as it circled around the pillars, surrounding me. It cut off my escape.

Pointing my spear at the thing, I shouted,

“Do not try me, you.. mechanical beast! Name yourself and don’t try me!”

“My name? I haven’t heard that needing to be addressed in a while.. my name is Two Melancholy Skies. I am the systems that keep me running. I am a god compared to your primitive species.” Two Melancholy Skies added cockily.

“Heavy ego of yourself there, Two Melancholy Skies.” I replied, scowling.

“And why are you here?” Two Melancholy Skies asked.

“To leave.”

A small species of foreign upbringing has entered the structure in which my chamber has been built.. i do not know if this thing is hostile, neither passive.

There has been no contact between me and Two Melancholy Skies. I am concerned.

Is this her way of a messenger? I do not know.

But for now I shall stay meddling with my business, and keep on waiting for any sort of redemption to death.

Chapter 11

Gore splattered through the desolate water, as the beast mauled and maimed my poor Meg. She seemed to snap and bark in pain, as she hit the sea floor. It happened so fast I couldn’t even see what it was. A black figure, for all I saw. Though, there was a little cave nearby. It seemed almost.. pulling me towards it.

As I entered the cave, the green force field surrounding it began to stretch and morph. As I then went through it, there was no water.

As i finally come to the sea floor, multiple flora almost seem to mesmerise my attention. Vibrant sparks of green, shades of blue, as deep-sea fish start to emerge from their spots.

I start to see the green glow again. A small trail of fluorescent green flowers seem to be the highlight of this. I follow the trail on Meg. The sea seems to stand to a still, which seems.. unnatural.

We keep moving, as the thick sea starts to stretch. Oysters open, fish dance.

Massive marine reptiles come closer.

As i plunge into the coldness of the blue and green abyss, i find that, really, it isn’t that bad. Faraway shadows dance at the top of the water, fish elegantly swim through the ocean as if it was a dance floor, and they were the dancers.

As i call for my trusty steed, in which i called it Meg.

A robust shark. Yes yes, i know. Though, it does not look near the same as the Megalodon from the normal ARKs. It has much more of a flat underside, with black tips on the end of its fin. It is just barely smaller than the normal Megalodon, but it is still rideable.

As I start to delve into the depths,I can’t help but wonder. How did that green glow even get there? I slowly descend.

Nothing. Maybe a few sharks here and there, but nothing.

Is this a bit late?

Is everything gone.

My mind spun in a gruesome state of tendril, infecting all that my eyes beheld upon. The sort of trance i had been accustomed to had merely just woken me up. A nightmare, for you.. short-worded people that don’t even listen to my cries of despair. The euphoria and happiness i had felt when first exploring this planet was temporary.

Why is this, may you ask? I have nothing to do up on the land. And lately, i have seen a faint glow coming from deep below. I don’t dare to explore down there, but there’s something.. something almost calling me.

Something as if it could set me free. I am preparing my things to start an adventure through the depths below.

PS : This isn’t FULLY based off of ARK.

I was yknow, exploring. Until wanna know what happens?

I nearly have my face bitten off.

The raptor had threw me into the wall, stunning me for a moment as I quickly regained my posture. Floris was being an idiot and looking around instead of coming to help.. useless creature. Back to what I was saying. The creature had advanced onto me, barely missing my face with its segmented maw. I rolled on the floor, launching a spear into the side of the beast. It roared in pain, as I pulled the spear from its side. Blood dripped from out the wound, as this happened I swiftly stabbed the spear through its oesophagus. It screeched in pain before crumpling to the floor, bleeding violently.

But that was not without consequence. That.. beast. It caught me off guard. A massive gash along my right thigh. It oozed a red liquid, obviously blood at that point. I winced, and the muscle seethed with pain. I couldn’t cope. I used the hide of that.. thing to make a tourniquet, which then severed the bleeding. For now I’m fine.

Floris found me. I’m limping around now. The symbiotic relation of me and Floris is almost unmatchable. It’s as if we’re.. one.

PS : I am going to have a break for 2-3 days from this series, just to refill.

Today I had been foraging for materials until I have seen an abandoned facility. I do not know what has happened, but I found something.

The supplies were.. Half bitten through. Though, it wasn’t a normal chomp. It was millions of tiny spikes, by the very clean mark of the beast’s maw. By chance, it looked a bit like a new species. That is.. extravagant! I hope to see this new species, and hope it isn’t..

Going to bite my face off.

Anyways, I'm going to explore now.

Chapter 6

Using the information that FT-2725 has shown us with their extraordinary performances trying to escape from their containment, we have later found that this aggressive approach was due to their lack of communication with their species and therefore had went insane. Ha, it is great! A breakthrough of science. Me and Team 2-AD are on Exoplanet 2, and we will not come back once we have found this derelict ARK’s secrets!

FT-2725 has been deemed deceased, we have guessed. It has ceased movement, and we have not picked up any heat signals of their body. The air pressure has seemingly went down, which may have been its downfall, for all we know.

But for the due time period, we shall take the deceased corpse from its containment and test it.
