LUNAR ECLIPSE (chpt 1)

“My god that was the worst thing I’ve ever been through” lunar exclaimed as he walked back into his home with a rock drake egg in his hands. He set the egg down in front of the air conditioners and waited, and waited, and waited some more. Eventually he saw the egg start to shake and crack a little, and suddenly, a jet black baby rock drake popped out of the egg, “awwww” was all lunar could think of his new war weapon, as he fed it and sat there, gazing at his rock drake. “I’ll name you eclipse” lunar thought to himself and patted the rock drake on the head, he brought it outside so he had room to play and walked back inside to make the saddle, when suddenly he heard a scuttling of claws and an Arthroplurea broke through the wall and spat at him! “I’ve gotta get outa here” lunar thought and ran for the door, once outside he realized his spino had walked over to the stable and the only other creatures there were his featherlight, Jimmy, and Eclipse. Time to see how strong you really are” lunar said as he whistled for the drake to attack the arthro. WOOSH, SNAP. Lunar had barely blinked when Eclipse and jumped over to the arthro and snapped its neck, “holy sh*t, it’s just a baby what’s gonna happen to the local dino population when your fully grown” he exclaimed in admiration.

Black Ghost

Ten (the last one)

The Black Ghost slashed a wound into her hind leg, deep enough that she couldn’t walk, immobilizing her completely. With another silent laugh, he lunged off of her and bounded over to Wonder and Gruff, where he met them head-on with violent teeth. First grabbing Gruff by the tail he whipped him around and dragged him, pulling him close enough so that he could close his jaws around the back of the coyote’s head. Tightening his jaws, he clenched down with unnatural strength and crushed his head in, causing a fountain of blood to spray away and splattering over his face.

Dropping the now-dead Gruff, he spun towards Wonder and smiled. Wonder had her ears back now as she shied away, slinking towards the tree line in hopes of fleeing and saving herself. But the Black Ghost had other plans.

He flickered like candle light, disappearing and then reappearing right beside her. Grabbing her by the scruff he flung her sideways, further into the clearing, before dashing over to her again. Standing over her, he reared up onto his hind legs and slammed his paws down onto her stomach. And again. And again. The ripping of flesh could be heard even from how far away Quiet was. Blood exploded upward and doused the monster’s underside but still he didn’t stop. Wonder let out screams, interrupted as she hacked up blood and vomited out what could have been something vital. Then all at once she fell still. Black Ghost stopped stomping on top of her and turned his head to look across at Quiet.

Isn’t it unfortunate, he mouthed with a shake of his head, slowly making his way towards her and tracking blood behind him, how easy all of this is? If it weren’t for your anger, I wouldn’t be here. Your pack could thrive… but you’d still be alone. Alone, miserable, and without anyone to truly communicate with you. Isn’t that a proper price to pay for all of this death?

No, Quiet managed to mouth around her hiccuping tears. You are a monster. I never should have spoken to you in the first place. You deserve death.

He smiled innocently at her, slowly lowering himself and putting his nose to hers. If only it were so simple. See, I am truly dead. I am a ghost. But I’ve been punished in such a way that I can’t help but punish others. Perhaps, once you die… you will be cursed to spend eternity with me. I am the only one who understands you.

Quiet shook her head, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment before taking a deep breath. I would never want to spend any more time with you. Not after what you’ve done.

Black Ghost shook his head, closing his pale white eyes. Very unfortunate, indeed. But remember something when you enter the gates of eternity which you believe to be nonexistent… remember that you’ve done this to yourself. And live with that guilt forever. For all eternity.

The Black Ghost’s head lashed out forward and Quiet allowed it. Teeth drilled into her face, and she screwed her eyes shut as pain engulfed her. And then she was washed away by the warm ocean waters of death.

Eight

He greeted her with a smile, one that made her spine tingle in utter fear. You shouldn’t have gone to sleep, he mouthed to her with a hard stare. That made Quiet’s hair along her back stand up straight, and with a harsh jab she began desperately prodding Gruff, praying that he would wake. It only took a few sharp prods to his side before he lifted his head, grunting as he blinked away sleep. “Quiet,” he mumbled, blinking a couple of times so that he could see. “What are you doing?”

Not daring to try and waste time by mouthing any words, she nodded her head furiously in the direction of the den entrance, where the black wolf still stood. Gruff looked in that direction, understanding her desperate gesture. The moment that he saw the wolf’s head, his expression changed. Relaxed ears pinned down to his head. Tired eyes widened and pupils dilated. His jowls tightened around his teeth, lips pulling back in absolute horror. “Quiet,” he sputtered finally. “Is- is that-?”

The black wolf grinned. He grinned, and grinned, and grinned, right before he lashed out harsh claws, skewered Captain by the back of the neck, dragging their alpha violently out of the den and disappearing into the night.

Gruff and Quiet looked at each other. Both of their eyes reflected the same thing: fear.

“Wake the others!” Gruff shouted, loud enough to make Soft lift her head. Quiet spun around and prodded Wonder in the side, waking the older coyote within a few prods.

Gruff didn’t wait for all of them to be woken and instead, blundered right out after Captain and the black wolf. Quiet waved her tail frantically before following him, and she let out a relieved breath when she heard Soft and Wonder following.

They came out into the clearing to find that the black ghost had Captain by the throat. He was shaking him around, flinging his body this way and that, with what looked like pure joy in his eyes. His jaw flexed with each movement and Quiet could hear splintering crunches every time that he was whipped around.

Gruff tried lunging at the large wolf, snapping his teeth, but he simply dodged away and lashed out with long claws at Gruff’s face. He was unfazed by the coyotes now being present to his murder. Suddenly he paused, bowing his head to look across the clearing at the four coyotes. A smile curved up in the corners of his lips, before he pressed his mighty jaws down.

Crunch. Snap.

Captain’s head and the top of his neck fell to the ground while the rest of his body remained in the black wolf’s jaws. Spitting out the corpse, he grinned at the four of them, blood dripping from his teeth. Swishing his tail, he stepped over Captain’s corpse, smiling at them with eyes that were purely hungry for death.

“That’s the Black Ghost,” Wonder whispered, her voice shaking.

Quiet processed her words while trembling. Four words, four syllables, and yet such a simple sentence made the mute coyote know that this was the day that she was going to die.

This is a really tips section.

*distant clapping and cheering from a seat in the back of the empty theater*
