Spino is better than Rex, but the problem is Spino is much harder to tame compared to Rex, Spino is really fast on both land and water making it harder to catch, while Rex isnt that fast. Spino's torpor also decreases faster than Rex.
But that doesn't mean Rex is Better
Spinos don't have much torpidaty so make sure you have a lot of narcotics but it does depend on the level
Get to level thirty go on a tapejara if u have one or a big rock start shooting it with 35 tank arrows and u only need like 20 bio toxins wait and boom u got a spino
To tame a spino there are 3 Easy steps
1:get on high cliff with spino at bottom of it make sure it’s high up enough that it can’t hit you trust me based on my experience
2:make sure you halve at least 20 tranq arrows if using bow I suggest a bow the most though
3:get smoothing balm that helps a lot and balm or not use raw prime or normal fish but if you only have fish you should have at least 30 narcotics just in case
4:once tamed treat well always have fish in there inventory and just love you’re spino

If you’re looking to tame a spinal, here’s a tip do not tame it in the water it will become a demon so take it on the box he get when he’s in the water is more more damage
Warning, spinos can drown, so don't knock them out in water... found out the hard way...
I took 15 - 20 tranq arrows and a big a*s rock and tamed this bas*ard that killed my pterodactyl
Undoubtedly one of the most useful Dinos in Ark. Level these up, breed them, and you're unstoppable. I would choose them over Rex any day. I have about fifty (not too many at all) and I can recommend the best way I have found to tame them:
First, locate them. They spawn on beaches sometimes but I recommend going deeper into freshwater waterways. Swamps are best.
Next, equip yourself with a bow and tranq arrows. I recommend being on a flying mount. That’s the safest and most effective way to knock the spino out. Argys are best because they’re fast and can maneuver quite well in the sky. Bring at least 50 tranqs just to be safe. Clear out the area around the spino before tranquillizing so nothing tries to kill him while he’s asleep.
Divebomb the spino with tranqs a few times, and, once he’s out, feed him raw prime fish meat, which is quite easy to find, or exceptional kibble. You only need to tame two, and I recommend, if you want more, (which you probably will) just breed them.
If you’re wondering if this fun little escapade is worth it, it most certainly is! Spinos are incredibly useful harvesting and combat mounts that are exceptional in both water and on land. Best of luck with taming!
