Me and my friend where taming a 120 spino and dododex said it would take 44 tranqs but it took 80 tranqs and 20 darts

I want to tame a spino and here is two ideas on how I think I can (I’m on level 24 btw)

1. Tame trap

It will take two sarcos, one parasaur, and a ichy (can do rn)

I will hop on my icy and park him right across from herbi island. Then I will go back and take my two sarcos to escort me and my VERY fast (but disposable) para to around that area then find a spino. (They spawn around there) once I find one I will park my sarcos somewhere safe and put on neutral and put a fence around them. Then I will ride on my para and shoot the spino with tranqu darts with a journeyman bow. I will get to chase then will run to water hop on ichy and set my para to neutral. Then I will get the spino to chase me to herbi island. I think I can outswim so I will get there first and run to the top of the cliff that the spino can’t climb. I know it will prob arggo the strong herbs on the island but I will arggo first and get it to not pay attention to them. Then I shoot till nocked and feed meat. I will have plenty of narcotics and meat.

2. Bear trapped

Will take 5 bear traps, two sarcos, one para (I need to get more levels first)

I will bring my trio of pets to a spino area and then put my pets on neutral and fence them when I find spino. I will place the large bear trap in front of me and get the spino to get stuck. Then I will use my journeyman bow to tranqu. If sarco gets out I will put another trap and shoot again. I will repeat until tranqed and feed meat.

These are both flawed please please give insight. I will look every day until Christmas (and even a little after) help me not get killed

I just tamed my first spino, then went and slaughtered like four therizinosaurus while taking very little damage so these guys are really tough.

If you're low/mid leveled, avoid these as much as you can. Its easy for a beginner to see this and think its far too big to be fast, but once they're aggressive, they can easily outrun the player. And standing on their hind legs lets them reach further, so you can't just hide on a rock. If you have no choice but to provoke one of these, my advice is to find the nearest pack of herbivores, which will still the spino, buying you time to find higher ground. Again, for a low level player, escaping is much more feasible than killing.

Takes over 160 darts for a 140 spino*

These guys used to be useless before the TLC. But now these guys are so good. Definitely should tame this when you get crossbow and tranq arrows. Also recommend bio toxic as a narcotic necause it is more efficient

I won't say they are better than Rex, but they are... On four legs it's fast and on two is strong but overall it looks awsm take more space to stay(size) than Rex specially when it comes to breeding but I love them.They have no turning radius issue when in 2 legs but they can only stand in 2 legs when you ride them and on land. Buff last 30s enough to kill alfha Rex of same level.

Without friends go up a cliff and have a flyer and start shooting it and when it rains go after it but don't go the ground and find a aother cliff closeer to it and ko it . With friends have you or your friend to pick you up and follow it until it's down it easy with friends

Never see the taming tip of spino on youtube and other always make your own trap to tame the spino today motive only down😁😅

Just FYI. Watch where you tranq these guys. They have high Oxygen levels but they can drown. KO it outside water before taming as taming can take a while even on low levels. Learnt this the hard way after clearing all piranhas, salmon and raptors in the area.

I was taming a carno on a beach, when a spino came and was attacking a stegosaurus, I wanted to tame it so I shot it with a crossbow and 4 seconds later I died. I had full hide armor and apprentice hide boots:(

I currently have two of them around my base and they killed every dinosaur that I’ve lured into their area I was hoping the wild dinosaurs would kill it but it looks like that’s not going to be the case and I’m low-key terrified

I'f you encounter one it's better if you had a journey man sword and flak or better armour so you can kill it but if it has a 30+ level even you had flak armour it's better to leave and fly away with your flyer or ride and run away with your ridable dino

I have 7 spinos. One is level 39 and 84% imprinted. Even though it isn’t fully imprinted and not too high-leveled, it has the ability to mow down the Dead Island like an industrial size lawn mower on someone’s puny little backyard. Especially if it has the Hydration buff. It’s so fast I used it to tame my giga by leading it into a trap. Do not underestimate spinos. With plenty of hard work and patience, you can destroy everything except gigas, Titans, and bosses. Everything else gets creamed.

Try to get it stuck on a few rocks if it’s trying to eat your face and shoot it

I was walking to collect more reasurse when suddenly i came accros a spino and i died but it cant see you if you are hidden

So my spino riptide is lvl 64 5355 hp and 312% melee so what I do is since I gain xp while on him for the stuff he kills I sit in the swamp in the water murdering anything I can find easy XP

Even though they are close to rivaling the Rex, they are harder to tame for new players in the sense of keeping it knocked out, the Rex stays out a lot longer, as for usefulness the spino does get a water buff which is amazing but it would be useless in most boss arenas because they don’t have any type of water, the Rex also comes with the ability to equip it with a tek saddle which will just shred bases if you have it unlocked, to achieve a top level spino you’ll need kibble, the kibble is made from Rex eggs also, overall the spino is an amazing Dino, just not as useful as the Rex in terms of long term survival.

Do you know how a giga trap looks like? Well using 4 stone gates and 2 giant bear traps works just as well. Doing this however pushed the spino into the ground and with it bitting the gate makes it a tiny bit harder to hit its head but once tames it will stand normaly after you demolish the gates.

1. Make a U shape out of gates and place 2 giant bear traps inside it

2. Lure the Spino into the opening

3. Once its stuck on the trap run behind it and put the gate as close as you can to the trap, Spino is long so dont wory if theres a big gap it will still work

4. Enjoy tranqing it. Try to kill a few Sabertooth salmons and harvesting them with a sickle for prime fish meat
