Tips & Strategies

What are tips for spinosaurus? Tips and strategies for spinosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Spino have an enormous turning radius. You can use this to your advantage. If a spino chases you run inland or toward a bunch of trees. The spino will get stuck on the trees and then turn around running in a full circle to reach you. For some reason even though the spino is large enough to knock down trees it will turn around and run in a wide arc attempting to reach you.Just be mindful of other dangers inland like raptors and carnotaurus.
Is it a door bell? Is it a Spino? No it’s 17 missed phone calls from mum
Start digging your grave
If you see these near your base get off the beach/away from the water you don't need to be to far away just a safe enough distance
I'm a average ark player but I just used 4 stone gateways and that's it I tried doing it on a cliff but it was to fast to try run and tranq so the trap is definitely easier but I do play single player with settings boosted a little so I don't know how hard stone gateways are to get normally.
The free gift gave me a spino saddle wen i was lvl 45
My favourite Dino is a Tapejara- I love them. My friend’s favourite Dino is a Spino. I convinced him to tame a Tapejara with me, so we did- and he doesn’t regret it. On our way back I spotted a mid-level Spino, and as my friend’s new he didn’t know about level stuff, so I knew he wouldn’t care. I stocked up on loads of narcotics for both of us and during our shenanigans I tranqed him and snuck them into his inventory. After I said that we were going on a ‘field trip’ on the Tapejara and flew him too the Spino- you could hear his face light up.
Now, Spinos LOVE big bodies of water with cliffs and one or two beaches, and the Tapejara can latch onto cliffs- so I latched us to a wall and we started firing. After a while it knocked and I spent the rest of my time hunting for prime as my friend admired the Spino- I put it in its inventory and it began to tame. When it woke he loved it- playing about, killing fish, grinning, all that kinda stuff. He still has the Spino now and loves it to death. I make sure it’s fed and he just kills stuff.
What too take from this:
•Spinos love big bodies of water with a few beaches and a lot of cliffs
•Tapejara are perfectly suited to taming Spinos as they can latch onto the cliffs to help you Tranq the Spino
•It took us 200-275 Tranqs for a mid-level: for a high or max level you need even more
•Bring taming food before hand- it took me 30 minutes of hunting then coming back to feed it narcotics again and again and again
•Bring narcotics- even if you don’t need them, just in case
-Two guns are better than one: it took the both of us shooting it to actually knock it within 20-30 minutes- either have some high level Tranq gear or bring more than one person to do the job
•My friend lost sight of the Spino at one point and almost ran off the cliff- LEARN FROM THIS: The over-eager will not think about consequences when making decisions: if you have a goofy tribe mate or someone who loves Spinos a lot consider: would they let their excitement get them and their tames killed? Although they might love the Dino, would it be safer to have them sit one out?
I hope my tale helped you- learn from my experiences
-Nightafall
Male a trap out of 4 stone or metal dinosaur gateways and a Bear 🐻 trap
Killed one in .3 seconds Three trikes one carno one stego
And a dilo
I’ve seen people say these are easier to tame than a Rex… forgive me for saying that is wrong. They do take less tranqs, but they run away way faster, and if doing it trapless, the Rex is way way easier to do, because they are so slow. Spinos also need a lot of narcotics or biotoxin, no matter what meat you feed them. Rexes don’t need any if you can keep them supplied with at least prime meat. Not to mention kibble😂 I hope this helped! It’s definitely not to be discouraging, and if using a trap and preparing plenty of narcs, the spino can be easier. Happy taming, everyone!
Everything you should now about the spino
1. Taming. To tame a spino I would recommend getting a flying mount. Make a trap that allows you to fly through it and let's the spino get trapped. The just shoot with arrows or darts
2. Stats. The spinosaurus is a good all around tame thanks to its amazing speed on land and in water. And it being stronger than a rex. It is a really good mid-late game tame.
3. Stance. The spino has 2 different stances which allow for strategic battling. Bipedal mode is when the spino stands on 2 legs and does a slash attack with its arms which is its stronger attack. Quadropedal mode is when the spino stands on all four. Quad mode might have less attack strength but is much faster than the bipedal mode.
4. Buff. When the spino is halfway submerged in water, it gets a water buff which can help in fights.
P.S. don't let your spino attack jellyfish. It will die.
-Randomly Good Ark Player
I was just doing my exploring with my raptor then I went back to my base there is a spino like twenty steps away from my hous and I have no idea what to do because the only things I have are low lvl with like 200 health so I’m probably gonna die a million times
Wild Spinos love Raw Prime Fish Meat so much they eat one per 25 hunger instead of 50 when taming!
Don’t tame if your new to ark but kibble is the best thing to tame with
Make a 4 x 4 stone foundation with stone doorframes surrounding it three walls high. Next make a stone ramp up one side. Keep in mind I will likely not have enough foundation support. But a simple solution would be to replace the middle ramp with a ceiling and build stone pillars down. And finally if you’re not fast enough to outrun it. Agro it with an argie and lead it up the ramp and into the trap. Now that is trapped you can knock it out fairly easy with a dart rifle and tranquilizing darts.
One time I was in my base making narcotics ... when I hear fight music start playing.... I look outside and the body of a level 34 spino was laying on the ground infront of me... my dinos killed it almost instantly.
