The Grim Raptor
Chapter 5(chapter 4 is the one where im complaining about a creaky tv)
As you can probably tell because im writing this, I survived. It turns out that it attacks the owner of the house. There are 4 people left, and we have no idea what to do. Wait, what if we make a huge hole in the floor so the creature falls in, and then we attack it! I'll propose the idea to the people later. Ive looked through the library and found a book, a creature entry on it! Its called the Grim Raptor, and it attacks villages that have angered it. The only way to apease the Grim Raptor is to sacrifice 2 people to it, a man and a woman. They have to be sacrificed on a shrine, but the problem is, we dont have a shrine, and its only men left. So we cant apease it, so we have to kill it. But, last night, someone went missing, we assumed they were killed, but we looked in their house and there was no corpse. We're guessing the Grim Raptor took them captive. Ok, while writing this i took a break and told the people about my idea, and they said we should try it. I will tell you if it works in the morning. In the meantime you must try your best to keep everybody in your village safe. You dont know what other dangers there are...

The Arks: Over Heaven (by Ben)
Chapter 82: Reverie
SWOOSH!
The plane flew closer and closer to the Capital. As it did, Warren looked out the window to see plenty of Caribbean islands down below, somewhat small but filled with plenty of forest and other creatures. From what he had heard of, most of these islands were off-limits to the public population. Not even the government was allowed there. Or so they were told…
One of the islands had a small volcano on it. It seemed dormant, but as Warren squinted his eyes, he could see something metal at the base of it. It looked almost like a door.
“Could the President have used these islands as testing sites before Samuel was taken to the island in the sky?” Warren thought to himself as he looked down below at the island. Warren shook the thought away. He needed to save his energy for the confrontation ahead.
Just then, he heard Sam shift in the seat next to him. His eyes glanced over to her, and she rolled over, her closed eyes facing Warren. Warren looked back at her and blinked his eyes. Warren still couldn’t believe there were no other seats available on this flight. It must have been some form of twisted bad luck.
“I don’t really mind sitting with Sam though,” Warren thought, closing his eyes gently. He turned away and faced the seat in front of him, “Reminds me of the old times.”
“Old times…”
~
Warren looked around the classroom, clutching onto his backpack straps tightly. It was his first day here at Terran High. There were plenty of tables clustered up to fit four people. Warren’s head jolted around anxiously. All the kids looked so threatening.
Warren’s eyes pinned to one table near the back of the class. One single girl sat there. She had short black hair and was staring at the whiteboard with a bored expression. She wore black sweatpants and some obscure band merchandise that Warren knew nothing about. Warren quickly stepped over to the table and took a seat in front of her. The girl ignored him, and he ignored her. Warren just wanted to get this school year over with…
As soon as the bell rang, a boy and a girl rushed inside. The teacher looked at them in annoyance. The boy was sweating heavily. He had glasses, a slickback, and wore a green shirt and khaki cargo pants. The girl also seemed out of breath. She was wearing a baggy blue shirt and a skirt.
“Sorry, brah! Me and my friend ran into traffic,” the boy said as an excuse. The teacher scowled at him.
“Do not call me ‘brah’. Just take a seat before I mark you two late…” the teacher said, adjusting the goggles on his forehead. He adjusted the collar of his lab coat and walked up to the whiteboard to write his name down.
“My name is Dr. Aston. I’m gonna be your science teacher for the rest of the school year, so whoop-dee-doo. Don’t bother me and I won’t bother you…”
Dr. Aston continued to ramble on about the rules of the classroom and safety precautions about labs. The boy and girl who were about to be late took a seat down at the table where Warren and the other girl sat. The late girl took a seat next to Warren, while the late boy took a seat next to the other girl.
“Well howdy partners!” the boy said, winking at Warren and the girl, “Name’s Walter. But you can just call me Walt. And that’s my friend, Rachel, we’ve known each other since we were kids.”
Rachel smiled at his words. Warren could see her cheeks turn slightly red.
“Yeah.”
Warren could tell that Rachel was a shy person, like him. He could tell from her body posture and the fact she was saying very little like he usually did. Warren nervously began to fiddle with his fingers.
“Warren’s my name.”
“Warren?” Walt said, raising his eyebrow, “Cool name, I guess.”
Walt turned to the mysterious girl.
“And howzabout you?”
The girl glanced at Walt with a glare.
“Don’t bother me dude… I just wanted to sit alone but you three just had to come here and try to be buddy buddy with me.”
Walt frowned and raised his hands in surrender.
“Sorry! Jeez, I’m just tryna be nice-”
Dr. Aston cleared his throat, and everyone turned their heads to Warren’s table. Dr. Aston tapped his foot impatiently on the ground, his hands on his hips.
“Young man if you don’t shut up right now I’m kicking you out. Which is not a good look for your first day.”
Walt quickly shut up. Warren smirked at Walt.
“You better quiet down… Otherwise the teacher will get mad,” Warren teased him. Walt glared at Warren.
“Oh shut up.”
The conversation stopped after that. Soon, Dr. Aston began to pass out textbooks to the classroom and pieces of paper to take notes. Walt moaned as he looked at it.
“Aw man notes already on the first day? This is gonna be hell!”
Rachel silently took out two pencils, handing one to Walt. Walt grabbed it wordlessly and began to write his name on the top. The mystery girl took out a pen and began to write as well.
Warren quickly began to rummage around his backpack for a writing utensil, but he turned white as his hand dug further and further into the bag. He didn’t have anything!
“Uh oh,” Warren thought. He turned to Walt and Rachel.
“Hey, do you two have a pencil I could borrow?” Warren asked them. Walt shrugged, and Rachel shook her head silently.
“Sorry. Usually I get mine from Rachel. I can never remember.”
“Yeah I gave my spare to Walt. Sorry…”
Warren began to get sweaty. He wasn’t sure what to do anymore. If he didn’t finish this assignment, he wasn’t sure if Dr. Aston would be pleased with him. It didn’t help that he sat with Walt, someone he already disliked-
“Here. Take mine,” the mystery girl interrupted Warren’s train of thoughts. She handed her pen over to Warren. Warren looked at it in wonder, grasping it in his fingers and pulling it off her. It was cold to the touch and made of silver. It was as if she didn’t even have a pulse.
“T-Thanks…”
“You’re welcome,” she blankly said. She looked off and stared at the wall, and then she sighed. She continued, “Samantha. That’s my name. But just call me Sam. That sounds cooler.”
“Oooh, so that’s your name! Looks like you’re finally speaking mystery girl,” Walt snorted. Sam looked at Walt in annoyance.
“Just get to work.”
The assignment was boring but brief, and in no time class was over. The bell rang, and everyone got up to get to their next class.
“Hey, you know what guys?” Walt decided, his eyes keen on Sam, “Let’s all eat together at lunch. Get to know each other.”
Sam seemed to be waiting for Warren to reply.
“Yeah sure why not?” Warren answered. Sam looked back at Walt.
“I guess.”
“Awesome! I’ll see you all soon then.”
Walt and Rachel exited the classroom, leaving Warren and Sam alone. Warren took the silver pen and tried to give it back to Sam, but she refused, shaking her head softly.
“Nah. Just keep it. I don’t want to hold onto it for you everyday,” she replied with a smirk. Warren blinked his eyes and turned red, furrowing his brow.
“I’m not that forgetful! It was just one time!”
Sam snorted, and turned around, a hand on a backpack strap.
“Yeah. Sure. Seeya around, Warren.”
And so over the course of the next three years, until they became juniors, Warren, Walt, Rachel, and Sam would all become good friends. And over the course of these few years, Warren would notice Walt trying his best to initiate intimate actions with Sam. Sam would be oblivious to all of these signs. Warren didn’t really care though. It wasn’t his business to get into it…
But one day it did become his business. And it would all be because someone couldn’t keep their hands to themself.
~
They were all hanging out at Warren’s house. They were sitting on the living room couch, chatting amongst themselves about their extracurriculars and the random everyday stuff friends talk about. Rachel and Sam were talking about the latest episode on The Girls TV show. Apparently David had picked Mackenzie over Gwen. This was absolutely ridiculous to them because Gwen was a thousand times better than Mackenzie and Mackenzie was not nearly as pretty.
Warren looked at Walt, who was glancing at Sam. He noticed a bead of sweat roll down his forehead, and noticed his fingers running along the couch slowly and aimlessly. It looked like it wanted to be wrapped around something, or rather, someone.
“Hey everyone,” Walt finally said, interrupting Rachel and Sam’s conversation. Rachel’s head jolted to Walt, her eyes and ears attentive. Sam looked more annoyed than anything.
“Yes Walt?”
Walt scratched the back of his head.
“You know we haven’t played any serious games since we first met… We should play seven minutes in heaven.”
Sam raised her eyebrow at Walt,
“Oookay? Sure, I guess.”
Rachel began to turn a little red, pressing her two index fingers together.
“I think that sounds like a great idea,” she said. Warren looked at Rachel with a piercing stare. Rachel never seemed like the type of person to enjoy these types of games. It all felt so odd to him…
“I’m getting a bad feeling about this,” Warren thought, looking back and forth between all of his friends. He objected, “I don’t think we should. Can’t we just play board games like we usually do?”
“What? Chicken you’ll have to go in with me?” Walt smirked. Rachel looked at Warren with a sly smile.
“It can’t be that bad…”
Sam didn’t have an opinion on it. Wordlessly, she shrugged. Walt took that as a yes. He turned to Warren.
“Guess we’re gonna have to play…”
“You guys can. I’m not going to.”
Walt shrugged, turning to face the girls, “Fine by me.”
Walt took a glass bottle and placed it down on the middle of the floor. Him, Sam, and Rachel all gathered around it and sat criss cross applesauce. Walt was first to go. He took the bottle and spun it full force.
SWISH!
Walt and Rachel both looked on at the bottle eagerly, while Sam just stared at it with her arms crossed, a bored expression on her face. The bottle began to stop on Sam, and by now Warren could definitely sense Walt’s excitement.
But the bottle went past Sam… and onto Rachel.
Rachel looked like she was about to jump up and down in joy. Her eyes were wide open, a slight smile creeping on her face. Walt wasn’t as pleased though. He had a frown on his face, and he muttered something under his breath.
“I guess we’re gonna have to go, Walt,” Rachel giggled. Walt nodded solemnly.
“Guess so.”
The two walked into the closet, closing it behind them. Warren looked at the door suspiciously. He could already feel something bad was going to happen.
Someone’s feelings were getting hurt tonight.
Warren got up from the couch and quickly but quietly rushed over to the closet door. He pressed his ear against it, waiting for either party to say something. Sam looked on with a raised eyebrow.
“What are you doing-”
Warren hushed her, putting a finger to his lips.
“So… I guess it’s just us two then huh?” Rachel said, her voice muffled because of the door standing in between them.
“Yeah,” Walt blankly replied, clear disappointment in his voice.
There was a moment of silence.
“Walt… I want to tell you something,” Rachel whispered, her voice cracking. Warren could sense her nervousness through her voice. He blinked his eyes and listened closer.
“I like you,” Rachel admitted, her voice cracking, “I’ve- I’ve liked you since we first met. I never had the guts to tell you because I’ve always been afraid. But I just wanted to tell you now… I like you a lot.”
There was a moment of silence. It continued for thirty more seconds, when suddenly there was the sound of someone being slammed against the wall. He could hear Rachel let out a cry of pain.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Walt cried, “That’s so damn disgusting! Trying to kiss me? How dare you! You pathetic nothing! You think I like you back? Are you blind or something? Maybe you’re the one that needs glasses!”
Warren quickly backed off. The closet door burst open, and Rachel came running out, her head in her hands and tears soaking her clothes. Sam got up from her couch, her eyes wide open in horror.
“Rachel!”
Rachel rushed out the front door, slamming it behind her. Warren could hear the door lock. He quickly rushed off after her.
“Hey wait!” Warren yelled. He opened the front door and saw Rachel sitting against the garage door, bawling her eyes out. Warren closed the door behind him and walked up to her.
“Rachel are you okay-”
“Just leave me alone Warren! I-I don’t even know what to say anymore!” Rachel sobbed, “After everything we’ve been through and he treats me like this! I-I-”
Warren spotted something red trickling down Rachel’s head. His eyes widened.
“Rachel. You’re bleeding,” Warren stated.
The two of them heard Sam yell from inside the house. Then, the sound of Walt shouting in pain. The two looked at the front door.
“What’s going on?” Warren wondered. He quickly got up and kicked the front door open. He could see Walt clenching his cheek tightly and gritting his teeth, while Sam’s hand was red as if she just slapped someone.
“What was that for Sam? I thought you were into me-”
“What did you do?” Warren boomed at Walt. Walt looked back at Warren, his eyes filled with rage. He pointed at Sam in an accusing manner.
“She’s been playing with my heart that’s what! From the very beginning since we’ve met I could tell that she liked me… But now I could tell it was all a scheme to break me-”
“I didn’t ask what Sam did. I asked what YOU did,” Warren glared, his fists clenched. Walt sneered.
“I tried to kiss her… So what? She liked me-”
“I don’t like you!” Sam snorted, “I never will! What makes you think I-”
“Playing hard to get obviously! That’s what you girls do all the time!”
“Get out of my house,” Warren demanded. Walt looked at Warren, his jaw dropped. He scoffed, looking back and forth from Warren to Sam.
“Warren, you can’t be serious! We’ve been friends forever! You choose her side of the story over mine?”
“Your side of the story? Wow,” Warren said, his hands balled into fists, and veins popped out of his forehead, “And we’ve been friends for months at most. Just get out of my house.”
Walt stepped forward to Warren.
“Warren don’t be like this-”
“I said to GET OUT!” Warren screamed. He rushed forward and slammed his fist into his cheek. Walt’s body went flying backwards into a wall, causing the chandelier above to shake. Warren’s eyes darted up at it as it swung back and forth. Walt looked back at Warren, and in a fit of rage he picked the bottle up off the floor and slammed it into Warren’s head. The glass smashed upon impact, causing shards to fly everywhere. Rachel let out a cry of pain, and Warren ignored his throbbing head and turned around to see a shard embedded in her stomach.
“Rachel!”
Walt took this opportunity and socked Warren in the face. Warren’s head whipped back, and Walt grabbed Warren by the shirt. He slammed Warren into the wall.
“Agh!” Warren cried out. He felt Walt’s hot breath on his face.
“Are you happy now Warren? ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?!” he bellowed in his face. Warren turned away slightly.
“Get off him you pig!” Sam screamed. She wrapped her arms around Walt and threw him off Warren. Walt was taken aback by this. He looked at Sam and snarled. Without hesitation he leaned his fist back and slammed his fist into her stomach. Sam let out a groan of pain as she lurched backward, clutching her stomach weakly.
Warren couldn’t handle it anymore. This man had hurt all of them, and for what? Just because of a girl who couldn’t reciprocate her feelings? It was absolutely despicable what type of man Walt was. He wasn’t going to pull the stops any longer. He rushed for the floor, grabbed a shard of glass the size of a knife. Walt turned around to redirect his attention to Warren, but he was quickly met with a slash to the throat.
Blood spilt from his mouth and neck onto Warren’s hands. Walt looked at Warren in horror, his pupils dilated and his body getting wobblier.
“W-Why?” Walt managed to gasp as he collapsed onto the floor, dead.
Warren looked at Walt, his hand gripping on the glass shard tighter. It cut deep into his skin, his own blood mixing with Walt’s. He looked up to Sam, ignoring his question.
“Call the ambulance. And the police. Let’s get this sorted out.”
~
Warren let out a gasp as he felt someone slug his arm. He looked around the surroundings of the airplane. It seemed like the plane had finally stopped moving, and he heard chatter of people getting out of their seats and collecting suitcases from the overhead bins. Warren looked to his left to see Sam getting up from her seat, taking a stretch as she did so.
“We landed if you couldn’t tell,” Sam informed him.
“Oh, thanks for waking me,” Warren said. He couldn’t look her in the eye. Sam looked at him with suspicion.
“Warren… You know you talk in your sleep right?”
Warren turned a slight white.
“Sam I-”
Warren was interrupted by the warm embrace of Sam. He could feel Sam hug him as hard as she could. She closed her eyes, the same memories flooded in her head.
“It’s okay. It’s okay…”
Warren closed his eyes and hugged her back, his eyes closed shut. A tear rolled down his cheek.
“Thank you.”
“Thank you, Sammy.”
Warren felt the haunting memory fade from his mind in Sam’s warm embrace. It had been a long time ago, but it was no more.
Besides, they had a son to save.

Day 3
Yet again, another person died. We need to find a way to kill this demon. We called a meeting today to discuss how, and someone had an idea. Some one asked what would happen if the target switched houses. Then we could know if it targets whos in the house, or the person who lives there. If it targets whos in the house, then we could leave the houses and we'd be safe! We all put our names in a cloth hat and pulled a name, and it was mine. If i dont write another journal entry, that means that it targets whos in the house. If i die, i wish you luck my friend, save your village.

I thought the scream they do from your back was just to scare small aggro’d creatures away but I made the mistake of having one on my back with active scream when I finally found a queen bee after hunting for days and it screamed and all the bees including the queen splatted in the air and dropped to the ground dead :0 >_< D:< warning to new Sino parents :’(
