Unless you are unmounted (rock throw can OHKO unarmored survivors), the Rock Elemental is really easy to run away from, it’s incredibly slow and loses interest in the survivor quickly once you get away a good distance.

Killing one is a bit tricky without a Giga (which ignores the Elemental’s armor). You have a few options however…

1. Bleed. Thylas, Carnos, etc… Bleed ignores HP and armor and can kill the elemental, just be aware you probably won’t get any XP this way unless you kill the Elemental with regular (non bleed) damage from an attack.

2. Explosives. I wouldn’t advise this without a crap ton of resources or a high quality RPG. Elemental’s take full damage from explosives but their massive base HP pool means this will still take a while.

DO NOT USE A TAMED ROCK ELEMENTAL. Like the Giga, tamed Elementals are weaker than their wild counterparts even when saddled. Unless your Elemental is a much higher lvl with a very strong saddle, do not even think about fighting fire with fire.

Remember carnos can bleed rock Elementals to death now

When playing schorcthed earth look in the trees they can spawn there

They’ll ruin your game at the beginning This goes in the micro raptor tier of annoying creatures

Unless you have a bronto covered in cannons, run.

On crystal isles they are painfully visible since they are a dark grey and mostly in the desert with yellow rocks

An easy place to find them is in the chalk hills on valguero

I lost my wyvern to these guys :(

I’ve had one spawn multiple times around 77 Lat and 46 Lon on Crystal Isles (desert area).

I find a ton on rockless mountains. Natural rocks won’t spawn but golems will making them easy to see

Went up against a level 50 one with a 278 reaper king....took half an hour these things are TANKS

Rock Elementals seem to take full damage from Giganotosaurus. So if you can transfer a Giga in from another map they can make relatively short work of any of these pesky Golems.

Be careful walking on rocks, you can glitch into them while they're disguised and get stuck.

There’s a lava golem !you can find lava golems in volcano caves

This creature I've found easiest to avoid due to its orange rock appearance. Also if you have high enough movement speed on any dinosaur, you can run past one without agroing it.

I took my Rock Golem to the wyvern cave on rag and killed every wyvern and got so many wyvern eggs

There is a smaller version of these guys called the Rubble Golem in scorched earth caves. Unfortunately they are not tameable, they would made a really good tame though.
