Tips & Strategies
I had a mob of 8 scorpions kill a golem by having the golem walk over them and get suspended in the air above them since there were so many scorpions, he eventually died, he could not attack.
Put metal dino doors (small) while it's rock and then put cannon and u r done
Unless you are unmounted (rock throw can OHKO unarmored survivors), the Rock Elemental is really easy to run away from, it’s incredibly slow and loses interest in the survivor quickly once you get away a good distance.
Killing one is a bit tricky without a Giga (which ignores the Elemental’s armor). You have a few options however…
1. Bleed. Thylas, Carnos, etc… Bleed ignores HP and armor and can kill the elemental, just be aware you probably won’t get any XP this way unless you kill the Elemental with regular (non bleed) damage from an attack.
2. Explosives. I wouldn’t advise this without a crap ton of resources or a high quality RPG. Elemental’s take full damage from explosives but their massive base HP pool means this will still take a while.
DO NOT USE A TAMED ROCK ELEMENTAL. Like the Giga, tamed Elementals are weaker than their wild counterparts even when saddled. Unless your Elemental is a much higher lvl with a very strong saddle, do not even think about fighting fire with fire.
There’s a lava golem !you can find lava golems in volcano caves
I was having trouble trying to ko it and found out you want to hit it for 450 dmg with the Canon not for 1800 dmg. Please up so no one goes through my pain.
Make sure you are not standing too close when you use the Mek. Thought the Rock Golem was doing 4k damage per rock toss but that was just me destroying my own Mek. Rip.
Gigas are Breedable but not rock golems? Why? Who thinks that these should get a movement speed buff when tamed and should be breedable. My Idea is that when you feed a large amount of metal or obsidian or a very large amounnt of stone to a mate boosted rock golem it will generate this golem soul stone and what you do is you bulid a stone structure roughly the size of a golem and drop the soul stone onto it , it will crumble and turn into a pill of rocks that will incubate and crack apart to form a fully grown rock golem.
I found three on the mountain at 80 lat 70 lon on lost island. They just look like yellower rocks when in rock form. If you are unsure look at them with spyglass. After I found a high level I ran away and set up a trap. After trapping it and placing a canon I put doorways vertical up like 6 times infront of my canon to prevent the rocks from breaking the canon.
if taming on offical MUST USE KIBBLE if u dont it will take days on stone and clay
I lost my wyvern to these guys :(
The name is shown even if disguised, but only when you use a spyglass.
(Lol I already see the noobs running around spyglassing even the smallest rock)
Try kiting it into some rocks. Best way to do it is to use pillars three high so he can't get passed them maybe six or seven wide. Park your parcer about six foundations away and place two more sets of pillars behind the parcel three high to block all rocks thrown. Fire away
How to spot them:
If you go to the mountains on SE, were golems spawn more frequently, you can easily tell golems apart from rocks as they look SANDY compared to the grey or shiny metal rocks.
In the dunes or else where the golems have better camouflage, apart from being more textured, either use a Parasaur or spyglass to confirm your suspicions.
Also if you see a rock on the horizon ‘Fall’ like creatures spawn, then take it as red it’s a golem.
My first encounter:
Did that rock just move?
‘Looks away for 2 seconds’
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!
Tried a few ways unsuccessfully to tame these things. Ended up just using 1 metal foundation and 6x metal doorframes stacked. Just need to Agro the rock elemental u want and guide it straight at this with your cannon on the opposite side. They hold agro and when they throw their rock it breaks on the metal door frame so u never take damage. I have done 2 now it's easy and fairly cheap Build.
You can knock it out with a Tek Stryder cannon if you hit headshots.
Can be tamed using the cannon module on the back of a Mek. Just be wary of body shots, will cause a lot of damage to the elemental. Took me 3 shells to knock out a 150
To knock out an rock elemental you should use a cannon an at least 50 to 200 cannonballs for high levels that is my tip hope it helps.
If you’re looking to tame one of these, it’s probably best to use a skiff to fly it into a cage, from there use a cannon
