They are experts at simply not spawning. With that being said, on the off chance that one does spawn, trap it and tame it immediately before the opportunity is lost.
They are capable of killing Death Worms with bug buff at relatively early levels, making them perfect for grinding experience from Death Worms. They are also great at gathering massive amounts of Chitin from the residents of the Desert, and Chitin can be used to craft Cementing Paste, making it very useful.

If they have the bug buff, they will become aggressive and start attacking everything.
Since they are an apex predator, that means they will attack anything that a rex can attack, including brontos and mammoths.
Wild dinos ignore you while you are on it unless you attack them except for the giga, compy, pegomastax, carcharo, rex, and rhynio
