Before you waste your stuff on a female remember they don’t collect thatch :( :()

I’ve seen nobody say this but you can bola them, im taming a lvl 100 and I just used a bola and 3 trank darts

You can find these in the snow biome, and the Redwood forest.

WARNING if they are provoked provided they will rise up and smite all who dare to attack with its mighty and only run away ability

Best in the game to obtain thatch. Takes 4 minutes to get a few thousand and its better than a bronto as it is able to move at a decent speed.

101 points   🔧 Utility   Mar 22, 2020   Report

The females are pure speed. They can't attack, however they can jump really far. I've had a few die that way. The males however, they sent as fast, still have the super jump. But they are the best thing to ever use for thatch gathering. Its worth it to get this as soon as you can.

Funny story, just recently I tamed myself one of these. Before I left base I crafted the saddle for it in my smithy then made my way to the snow biome. (Yes, I know there is deer in the redwoods too I just didn’t want to have to deal with raptors and terror birds), anyways so I tame the deer, and put the saddle in its inventory, only to realize I crafted a megalosaurus saddle instead of a megalaceros saddle lol 😂

My first Deer tame was a male, i bola him, knock him out wth my fists, feed him mejoberries and keep him asleep with narcoberries

If you ever diecide to tame a Megaloceros as a mount you plan to use to deal damage with, do not tame the female. This is because (in my console experience) females do not have any attacks, hence not dealing any damage.

130 points   🥚 Taming & KO   Dec 28, 2016   Report

Please note that females do not attck AT ALL. Boost speed, stam and weight and theyre the best mule ever though...

If you are planning on breeding these, here are some tips; 1. Unlike most mammals in ark, during gestation time, these DO GET A PREGNANT BELLY! most creatures (phiomias, chalicos, icthys etc) just look the same. I think equus have the same thing, but im not sure.

2. if you are planning on doing a breeding program with these, keep in mind to only have ONE breeding male! if they have a male baby, just kill it, unless you are trying to get a strong male, then keep males and females, so you don't have to wait the cooldown. 3. Make sure to get the baby food as soon as you claim it! If you don't, it will just die. 4. make sure to claim the baby when it is born, unless you don't want it. When i first started breeding, I forgot this alot.

Great tame for the obvious reasons but a muzzle would be nice since it's call noise is extremely annoying! Vote for a mute muzzle LOL 😆

I accedentaly ate a rare flower while next to one. It broke every bone in my body and then launched me across the island

121 points   🥚 Taming & KO   Oct 20, 2016   Report

They are very fast once taken damage from so try to hit them when they are facing a wall. If there is no walll nearby, bola is best solution.

52 points   ⚔️ Encountering   Jul 12, 2021   Report

Females don’t gather thatch it’s only the males

48 points   🔧 Utility   Jul 5, 2021   Report

These things can spawn in the redwoods! That’s where I tamed mine! :D

5 points   🔧 Utility   Jan 5, 2025   Report

Ok you wont believe me, but this method shrunk my megaloceros! Get an argy with a saddle, pick up the deer with someone riding it, and it will shrink the deer and the tribemate! It works! I did it and when I ride it it looks like torture! Try it!

15 points   ⚔️ Encountering   Feb 15, 2024   Report

These things are actually surprisingly good for the dragon go under its legs it can't hit you and you attack and shoot with shotgun easy alpha fight

56 points   🥚 Taming & KO   Mar 12, 2020   Report

Easy tame, just use bolas, trap/protect it with spike walls, feed berries, and use narcotics/narco berries to keep torpor up. I play on a small tribes server and tamed a max level in less than an hour with 3x.

Information All that I know: 1. These things are speedy as heck. You need to be fast to catch one. 2. They spawn in Redwood, so be careful. Redwood is much harder to survive in, in my opinion. 3. You have to feed it berries, or anything avalible around you that is a berry, if you don't have one. 4. These things can eat eggs if they are tamed. Fr, literal dino eggs if they are tamed. 5. You got to be strong, because these deers also can have health that can take long to take down. 6. Try not to kill em, they make good pets in my opinion. -Mobile, 2022, TinaZ. You dont need much, its very simple to knock em out.
