The Mantis is passively tamed by feeding it Deathworm or Woolly Rhino Horns. Wear Ghillie armor and use Bug Repellent, then approach carefully from behind and feed it between attempts; alternatively, lure it into a secure trap so you can feed it safely without chasing or provoking it.
