When encountering in the rockwell biome make sure to kill things around the mantis for a easier taming experience

The mantis has two attacks, the close range hack and slash, as well as a devastating pounce. The pounce attack is long range and does considerably more damage than the hack and slash. Mantis aggro from a considerable distance (as in, if your on foot get out of there fast) so the pounce attack is very deadly. However, fire damage weapons i.e. Wyvern fire, flamethrower etc. do more damage than other rounds, the same goes for other insect/arachnid creatures

They drop organic polymer which can be used for ghille armor. Ran into 2 as I was leaving a cave and barely killed them using a pike. Dont ever let your guard down in caves, even when leaving and it was empty before

Go to Eden’s Ring (Rockwell’s Biome) and have a high damage and speed guy and go crazy

You can carry a mantis with anything aslong as you have a grapple, the grapple wont cut and the mantis will fly with you. Usefull for taking a mantis from an enemy element vien.

There also found in the valconoe region underneath in the lava caverns. Why? Idk but it is what it is

It says they're exclusive to Scorched Earth, but they're also on Ragnorok.

You'll find an abundance of them in the desert and at volcano so use a chainsaw to get alot of organic poly

Just make sure you have a trap and death worm horns.

Be careful when encountering wild Megatherium since it gains an unholy boost of rage when around bugs, so make sure your Mantis is powerful or equipped enough to handle them or skedaddle out of there!

When in a cave use oil jars and flaming arrows to set a fire trap for mantis,sabers,and other cave dwelling creatures

Remember that mantises can pounce so be well prepared for sneak attacks.

Be carful of its jump it scares the crap out of me every time.

Can be also found on raganok but scorched earth is better option

Where do these things spawn in extinction? My best guess is the outer part of the map

Chances are, if you see one, and it's not from a large distance, it already is going to try and murder you. They have an immense aggro range, and they deal a huge amount of melee damage. Unless you're very well armoured, I would suggest staying away. If you want to kill one, however, I would suggest using whatever tool/tame that you have that gets organic polymer the best, as they are the only creatures that can give you it (other than Coelaocanth from fishing), and it is useable for Ghille armor (which is almost undoubtedly the best armor in Scorch, as it halves aggro ranges and has even more hyperthermic resistance than desert cloth armor, with the same defense rating).

Use Fire Arrows, one shot kills even a 150.

Bug repellent for the bugs, cactus broth and ghillie for the rest. Basically invisible. Passive tame.
