Tips & Strategies

What are tips for mantis? Tips and strategies for mantis in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
If using this mantis to grind out metal, take a set of clubs along with you. Ascendant clubs in a 400% Mantis will 1 - 4 hit most animals on the server.
The best way to deal with a mantis is to use fire. Use flame throwers, fire wyverns, or oil jars.
So these are a passive tame, get some bug repellent ( make it ok a mortar or a chem bench and you’ll need; narc, lemons, carrots and pelt)
You will also need Deathworm horns for the actual taming, put them in the last slot on the quick access bar.
Find the Mantis that you want, use the bug repellent (you’ll get about 400 seconds) and no insects will agro by you being near them. Approach the mantis from behind and feed them to it.
It may takes more than one feed? If that’s the case be aware that the mantis will agro for a bit.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, Use Bug Repellant, Cactus Broth and Ghillie Armour for easy taming. The Mantis’ aggro range is crazy massive but if you have these buffs they will not see you coming, if you can, feed your mount cactus broth and bug repellant if you’re really paranoid. Happy Taming Survivors!
Procoptodon will hold mantis up to 28% maturation
Can't be Bolaed
Don't try to and be me
Tip #1 - Don't tame a dung beetle in between feeding intervals. The mantis will attack it and reset tame.
Tip #2 - clear all vultures in the area, mantis will fight them and reset tame.
Tip #3 - Don't waste time taming a mating pair, as they are unable to mate :))))...
Tip #4 - Bring extra horns -_- and bug repellent.
I mean theae guys are super useful but kinda expensive to tame
One of the best games in the game. It has good base stats, and has the special ability to use player tools (axe, pickaxe, sword, club, etc)so it makes amazing harvester, or combat tanks, or knock outers. You will however need to be smart in how you spec points depending on what you want for you mantis. If you want a harvester spec stamina and weight, for combat health and melee, knock outer health melee and stamina. Happy taming.
Best place to get deathworm horns is in the ice cave on Ragnarok, can run in with a couple decent Deinonychus' or a Thyla and just shred them and they spawn frequently enough that by the time you get to the boss room and turn back you've got a bunch!
As of the latest update, these can now be tamed with rhino horns, though with lower effectiveness.
These guys are amazing if you have good weapons since you can use them to stap the heck out of creatures, use to knockout stuff:with a club, or to gather matreals. WARNING: these guys have bad weight so don't recommend to take these guys for metal unless you have brought anything with good wight
