We went of dangerous journeys everywhere... until one day brownie was on my shoulder I was on my Argentavius when a pack of diemorphodons flew past me and scared me and I acledetly threw brownie to the ground we where not to high and he had high health) but when I looked down he was right next to a pack of three allos. Frisky lived a wonderful life. He was my best friend. But of course like them all…. he died. I was on my number one argentavis named maverick with Frisky on my shoulder. We were trying to lure a giga from our base to protect my other tames. Maverick was thrown into the sea and I was thrown off. While he was being slaughtered, I tried to get Frisky to safety but the giga caught up. Once I was dead Frisky tried to fight back but he was easily overpower and died. I have a gravestone for them and a new argentavis named Freedom.

So I tamed my first jerboa on Ragnarok a while ago and named him Bert. He was level 1 when I tamed him, and level 43 when I lost him. Bert was always on my shoulder, always at my side. Not as a pet, but as a friend and we did everything together. I don’t know how it happened, but one day he just went MIA and we haven’t found him since. He never died, he’s just missing. I hope one day I will find him and if not I hope he is living a happy life in the wild. If you could take the time to give a prayer for Bert, I would appreciate it 🫡

I was lvl 77 then someone said “imma kill my jerb” my mind said “poor jerb u better buy it” so i hopped on chat and said “can i buy ur jerb?” He said shure (i play on ark mobile btw) so i offerd him a chain collar so we traded saddly he was nutered😭 and i named him Mocha he was sooo cute i let him wander around my base.

Chapter 27: Scorched Search

Note: Story starts in Achatina, The Island ABC order for Section I, Scorched Earth and Aberration exclusives for Section II and has a Prologue. Last chapter in Fasolauchus, next chapter in Jug Bug.

This is the real Chapter 27.

Chapters to the end of Segment II: 10 (Counting 37 and 37.5 as combined chapters. I just made 37.5 because it was the halfway point.)

Nal’s eyes shot open, gasping for air. She lay on the sand somewhere south on the Ark, far away from the green obelisk. She then tilted her head up and used her legs to get up, and sit up against a rock she had respawned next to. She was breathing hard, sweating a little, and then got up and looked around. She took a step forward, and then another. She kept stepping forward, then turned around to face a tree. She walked to it, then punched it hard one time. She yelled in pain as she pulled her hand back, looked down to see some blood coming out of her fingers. She saw some sticks, two logs of wood, and the fallen tree on the ground. She bent down to pick them up, then put the supplies in her bag. She got up and walked to a place where she found some rocks on the ground. She took one of them, then took out her sticks and logs, then placed then in a formation that resembled a pickaxe. She found a sharp piece of rock, a flint, and used it to hammer out the pickaxe. She hit the flint against the logs, sticks, and rock until the rock was flat and sharp on the edges, and the sticks and logs were holding the rock. The pickaxe had been completed. Nal picked up the pickaxe and walked to a rock, then bashed her pickaxe against it. The rock burst out some stones and flint as the pickaxe broke it down. Nal picked up the 10 flint pieces and 6 rocks that lay on the ground, then walked to another nearby tree, then knocked it down too. Some sticks lay on the ground, as did a few logs, and Nal picked them up, took out one flint, and hammered them together until they made a hatchet. Nal held the hatchet in her other hand, then walked south to find some water. She was starting to get thirsty, and the heat was making it worse. She also had to watch out for any creatures that may try to attack her. She walked for a few minutes southeast, hoping to find something. She could see a large mountain close by. She was somewhere in the center of the Ark. Nal looked around, and then noticed a jerboa walking around. She put her pickaxe in her bag then walked to the jerboa.

“Sorry, little one.” Nal whispered. She lifted her hatchet and swung it downwards. The axe contacted the jerboa and cut apart its back. It screeched then fell over. Nal pulled it just a few meters away then started collecting resources. She had a campfire down, let the jerboa dry of its blood, then walked to a nearby cactus. She was sure they gave water, so she swung her hatchet at it, and it cracked as some water oozed out of it. She gasped then used the hide she got from the jerboa to make a watershin. She held it below the water, and it leaked into the bag. The meat sat next to the unlit campfire, drying up. Nal then hit the cactus again with her hatchet and the cactus cracked loudly. There was a large hole in it, and water had burst through into the bag. Then the water started to slow, then stopped leaking. Nal carried it towards the campfire, tying the top together, then lay it close to the campfire. Nal put some sticks on the fire, then took out two pieces of flint. She scraped them together above the sticks until some sparks were generated. The sparks ignited the sticks, causing a flame to begin. Nal took the meat on the ground and put it on the rocks surrounding the fire. The meat would cook slowly. Nal was hoping this would be done soon. She was in a guaranteed spawn area for wolves and close to somewhere where a Rex could very rarely spawn. She had to hope the others found her soon. As she sat, waiting for the food to cook, she was looking around, drinking her water, and watching out for any creatures. Nal stood up, put the bag of water down, and walked to some bushes. She collected some berries and fiber off of them, so she could have extra food and also heat protection. She put the berries in her bag and then collected more fiber until she had almost enough for a full set of cloth. She created a cloth shirt and pants, including some cloth shoes. Then she put them on, and she could feel herself getting more cool. Then there was also the issue of safety. She was still in a bad spot, a spot where a ton of dangerous creatures can come. And her stats were not good enough for her to outrun a direwolf or even keep outrunning it. She sat down near the campfire, and took off the cooked meat. She started eating the meat.

“I gotta find an explorer note. Maybe there’s one close by.” Nal thought. She looked at the mountain. In the far distance, around 1 kilometer, there was a small corner that seemed like a ruin. Nal couldn’t see it well since she was starting to get very hot. But she stood up just then, squinted her eyes, and she was sure it was an explorer note. She turned to her campfire, picked up her water bag, and walked in the direction of the explorer note. She was hoping she could get there safely. As she walked, she checked her surroundings to ensure nothing bad ambushed her. After around 20 minutes, she was sitting behind a rock, looking at the explorer note less than 100 meters away from her. There was nothing around it. Nal kept breathing hard, and she was starting to get hotter. The sun seemed to get closer as it shined brighter, Nal covered her eyes to shield them from the light, but it was getting bad. Such a low level survivor would not last long out here without proper materials. Nal only got to Level 4, and she hasn’t gotten to Level 5 yet. She uncovered her eyes and turned her head around to the explorer note. She stood up and walked slowly to the note. Sweat poured down her head and arms like as if she was being sprayed by a waterfall. The cloth wouldn’t stop the heat completely. She opened the box on the ruins’ floors, and she got a notification on her implant. She looked at it and saw that she had 9 levels. She was on Level 14 now. She put three points into health, five in stamina, and the rest in fortitude. She felt safer now, but she still needed to find a proper source of water. There was a canyon near the mountain. But it was over a kilometer away and she didn’t know if she would make it there.

“Okay. I need to try and get to the canyon.” Nal said. She started walking east towards it.

The fortitude, along with the cloth, was slowing the heat down and keeping her cool. She kept bashing the hatchet against cacti and collecting water. She was nearly full health and was barely losing any. She felt like she would make it. Then as she got 100 meters away from the canyon and the large cliffs came into sight, she heard a stick snap. She gasped and jumped behind a rock next to her. Gasping in fear, she stayed quiet and hidden. She could hear quiet growling. It didn’t sound like a direwolf or a raptor. The growling was more low-pitched, and Nal could hear it. It sent chills down her spine. She did not like it. She could hear footsteps next to the rock. The growling got louder. Nal turned her head, gasping. She looked at behind the rock, and what she saw shocked her. There was a Thylacoleo standing on the cliff’s edge, growling and sniffing the ground. “How is there a Thyla? They can’t spawn on this side of the canyon. How did it even get here?” Nal thought to herself as she stayed quiet. Nal turned her head back to behind the rock. It was quiet again. So quiet, you could hear Nal’s heart thumping fast. Nal took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a few seconds. Then suddenly… SCREECH! A huge, loud, high-pitched screech let out. The sound startled Nal so hard she started screaming and woke up. She gasped quickly as she looked behind the rock. There was no more Thyla. In its place was a direwolf.

“Was I just seeing things? Is heat stroke getting to me?” Nal thought. She was getting thirsty, she was almost out of food, and the only safe place she had was guarded by a wolf. Then there was another wolf that walked to the one wolf. Then a third and fourth, along with a fifth, treaded over to the cliff edge. It was a full wolf pack. Nal had no way to check their levels safely. For all she knew, the wolves could all be 150s. Nal gasped quickly and quietly, her heart thumping faster. Nal then stayed crouched as she quietly ran from the other side of the rock, behind the wolves, and jumped behind another rock, this time next to the cliffside. The wolves thought they heard something, so they sniffed the rock that Nal had come from. They looked around, but found nothing. Nal stayed quiet and did not move. She kept gasping as she hoped that the wolves wouldn’t see her. The wolves growled as they looked around. One of the wolves, who had an orange-red glow around their body, turned their head towards the other group of rocks. The pack alpha was staring at the rock right next to the cliffside. Nal had her head towards the cliffside, inches from the dropoff point. The wolf growled as it started walking. Nal gasped as she heard footsteps getting louder.

“Oh, no.” Nal whispered. She crawled to the cliffside, then climbed down the rocks on it. She found a level piece of rock that she could stand on, but it was hanging over a steep cliff. She gasped quickly as the wolf walked around the rock and looked over the cliffside. The wolf grumbled as it looked away. Nal sighed in relief, but her heart was still beating quickly and she was getting heat stroke. She could not stay there forever. Nal stayed quiet, and hoped the wolves would leave. Then one of the wolves walked to the cliff edge and looked over. The wolf grumbled quietly as it looked around. It saw nothing. Then it sniffed its nose and smelled something. It thought it could smell burning meat. Nal gasped and looked in her bag. The last two pieces of cooked meat were getting burnt. The wolves growled as they looked down to see a bag with the meat. The wolves noticed this and screeched in anger. The alpha wolf came over. Nal gasped and looked up. The wolves had spotted her. Nal was breathing heavily and quickly, as she stood against the wall, her head turned away. The wolves were looking at each other. The alpha wolf screeched at one. That wolf nodded then looked down off the cliff. He turned around, his back facing the canyon, and walked backwards off the cliffside. He opened his mouth, and suddenly…

SNAP!

The wolf’s jaws made contact with Nal’s arm. She let out a scream of pain as she fell off the cliffside, screaming as she and the wolf descended. Nal took out a spear and hit the wolf in the eye. The wolf screeched as the eye popped and a huge blob of blood appeared in its socket. They hit the ground just then. Nal hit the ground on her body, and the wolf hit it on its back. The wolf had let go of Nal’s arm. Nal had taken a ton of health damage from the fall and she was starting to get blurry from the heat stroke. Her arm had a fracture in it and blood oozed out of the large wound. Nal got up, panting quickly. Her heart had jumped and was accelerating. She was terrified now and she started to run. She had 40 HP left and the heat was starting to decimate her health. She ran towards the nearest lake. The wolf growled as it started to wake up. It got up, growling. But Nal was nowhere to be seen. In the lake, Nal was sitting behind a rock, in the shallow, cold waters. It would stop the heat from hurting her. But the wound was going to get worse if she didn’t fix it. She turned her head to behind the rock. The wolf had gotten up and started walking around. Nal was breathing hard but slower, and she held her arm tightly. She took off the shoes on her bruised feet, then took apart their covers. Then she wrapped them around her wound and tied the two pieces of cloth together. She then put the second layer of cloth on her injured leg. Nal had to stay there, and hope the others got there soon.

Around an hour before, Sodden and his group were on their raptors, walking west. They had started walking around 30 minutes earlier and were looking around for Gitez, who should be there soon. They kept going across the sandy hills, the rocky ground, and using their raptors to destroy any ant or wolf that came at them. As they kept walking, Dorack turned to Sodden.

“Uh, so what’s our plan when we find Nal?” Dorack asked.

“We are going to find her, get to our base, get levels, and expand our base. We got a lot to do, so we need to get started.” Sodden responded.

“Okay.” Dorack said. The four survivors had hide armor and some cactus sap in their bags, so they could counter the heat well. Nal, however, did not get the chance to get any of that except the water, which she was almost out of. Serenity then tapped Sodden’s shoulder and he turned around.

“We also gotta get a lot of creatures. We need Rexes, Thylas for caves, all that. The problem is that we don’t have an upgrade station here like we did on The Island. We’re gonna have to rely on desert drops for a good crossbow.” Serenity said. Sodden sighed and looked forward.

“True, except one problem. The dunes are one of the most hostile places on this Ark. We could be facing mantises, arthros that can decimate our armor, there’s also fasolauchuses, snakes, and if we’re not careful… we could run into a Deathworm.” Sodden said. Rod gasped silently. He was looking down, holding the side of his bag. Dorack turned around and said, “You good?”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.” Rod said. Dorack nodded and stared straight ahead. Then a notification went off on their implant. Sodden looked at his implant and saw the message,

“Guys. Please… please come help. I’m in the canyon, by a lake somewhere south. There’s wolves here. They’ll find me soon. Please…”

Sodden gasped and Dorack growled quietly.

“Seriously? Wolves. This brings me back to what happened in the Arctic months ago…” Dorack whispered.

“Hey, guys! You wanna find your friend or what?” A voice said. There was a raptor in front of the other group, which had stopped walking. Dorack looked up. Gitez sat on the raptor, waving his hand.

“Uh, yeah. I think she’s somewhere in the canyon just southwest from here.” Sodden said. Gitez gasped and said, “What’s she doing in there?”

“I think some wolves injured her and forced her to go into the canyon and hide there.” Sodden responded. Gitez sighed and said, “Makes sense.”

Then the group started walking together towards the canyon. They walked southwest, down towards the place where Nal said she was.

While the others were walking, Nal was sitting on a rock, which was halfway submerged in the lake she was in, and she was behind a taller rock, hiding from the wolf that had come down. Then, another wolf screeched from the top of the cliff and jumped off the edge. He landed on his feet, and took some damage, but he was mostly fine. He must’ve been a high level, because most low level wolves would die almost instantly from that drop! Nal gasped in shock at the sight. The wolves were definitely high levels. She saw that it did not have a red glow, so it wasn’t the alpha. She was scared to find out what levels they were. Then two more wolves jumped down, and one remained. The two wolves that jumped down had a yellow glow and a red-orange glow. Both of them were the two strongest wolves. The wolf on the cliff top was whimpering, refusing to jump. “It must have been a low level”, Nal thought. She stayed quiet and behind the rock as the wolves began to sniff around. Nal turned to her back and saw nothing. She gasped. “Oh, no.” She whispered. She turned to the other direction and saw her bag in the distance, lying on the ground and next to the walls. She kept her head fully behind the rocks, but she eyed her bag on the ground. Then the two lead wolves sniffed the bag and growled as they walked to it. They roared as they started ripping the bag apart. Nal gasped. The bag’s fabric started tearing and her hatchet fell out, along with her water and the burnt meat. The wolves growled as they started eating it. Then the wolves took one meat. But the other two wolves came over and tried to pull the meat away, then the alphas growled as they held their teeth in the meat, their grip clinging on the piece of meat. They started screeching as they ran around, pulling the meat and fighting over. Nal saw this as her chance to leave and she got up and limped in the other direction, walking away from the wolves. Then the low level wolf on the cliff looked down and saw his pack fighting. Then he turned his head and saw Nal limping north. The wolf gasped and turned to the others. The wolf inhaled and roared loudly, causing the wolves to drop their meat and look up. The wolf growled as he lifted his paw and pointed at Nal. The wolves turned around and shot a glare at Nal. Nal heard the roar and saw the wolves looking at her. The alpha growled deeply. “Oh, my god.” Nal said. The wolves had seen her. This time, the rocks weren’t gonna help her. She looked around frantically as the wolves started walking. Nal was gasping in fear, her heart still pumping quickly. She backed up slowly and towards the walls. The wolves growled as they got closer.

“No… no… this is Arktic all over again… NO!!” Nal thought as she started climbing the walls. The wolves roared as they ran at her. Nal climbed the walls quickly. She was dangling from some thin rocks and her legs were weak. One dangled and the other was on a large rock. The wolves looked up, growling loudly. Nal gasped quickly as tears started appearing in her eyes. She could feel a memory play in her head. Sometime in late April 2024, an ascension off the Island had gone wrong and instead of her and Dorack coming to Scorched Earth, they went to a neighboring Ark called Snowball Earth, because it was one of the coldest Arks. She could remember her and Dorack screaming as they got separated, the path exploding because a meteor had destabilized it, and her and Dorack falling into the Ark dome. They were trapped in Snowball for 3 months! Wolves. She was terrified of wolves ever since. Nal started crying as the wolves started jumping, snapping their teeth. Sodden and the others were at the canyon, and noticed the wolves trying to grab Nal. Everyone gasped.

“Nal, NO! Oh, my god. This is like the Yeti thing…” Dorack said.

“How can we get down? We’re too low level to survive that fall!” Rod yelled.

“Well… Serenity is the only one high enough of a level to survive that. She can bring Reaper down. Gitez, you got any grapples?” Sodden asked. Gitez shook his head softly.

“No, sorry, dudes.”

“Well, we’re just gonna have to climb down!” Rod yelled. Rod and Dorack hopped off of the low level Raptor, and Sodden got off of Reaper.

“Okay. Get Reaper down. We need to save her.” Sodden said to Serenity. Serenity nodded and got off Reaper. Reaper growled in determination. Serenity let out a exhale. She leaped off the cliff, holding Reaper’s arm.

“Hey! Get away from her, you idiots!” Serenity yelled. Reaper screeched in agreement. The wolves stopped roaring and jumping at Nal, then they turned around. Serenity hit the ground on her legs, and Reaper did too. Serenity didn’t take too much damage. Neither did Reaper. Serenity got on Reaper, and Reaper roared in anger. The wolves screeched too. Then Serenity led the wolves away from Nal, and the wolves started running at them. Serenity took out a spyglass and looked through it. Nal’s suspicions were correct. A Level 85, 105, 130, and 145 were in the pack. Serenity had to lead them all away. So she led Reaper around the wolves. Then Reaper jumped over a wolf as it lunged to hit her, then Reaper opened her mouth and inserted her teeth in the Level 85 wolf’s back. The wolf screeched in pain and tried to shake it off. Then Reaper jumped off as the alphas leaped at her. Reaper dodged then and ran to Nal. Nal looked at her, gasping, as Serenity sat on Reaper just below her. “Nal, get on!” Serenity yelled. Nal jumped down onto the raptor and they ran back to the wolves, then around then to stop the wolves from hitting them. She just needed to get Nal away. Dorack was sitting down, gasping with his head down. He was getting unwanted, terrible memories of every day they spent in Snowball, their worst experience ever. Sodden looked at Dorack, worried, then sat down.

“Something wrong?” Sodden asked. Dorack kept gasping in fear, then turned his head around. “I… I don’t wanna say.” Dorack said. Sodden sighed then stood up. Then Dorack turned his head to the canyon and saw Serenity and Nal riding Reaper to the nearest path. They got there, lost the wolves, then went back up to the top of the cliff. They got back to the group. Nal got off, whimpering, then Dorack got up and ran at her. They hugged.

“Oh… I’m so glad you’re okay. No snowstorm or Apex Wolf will ever defeat us again…” Dorack said.

Nal embraced Dorack and said, “I’m okay. I’m here.”

Sodden walked up to the two and said, “Guys, we should get going.” Nal nodded and she let go of Dorack. Gitez nodded as he walked to them. “Well, good seeing you.” He said. The others nodded.

“Good meeting you.” Dorack said as he walked to Gitez and held out his hand. Gitez shook it, then got on his raptor. “Perhaps we will meet again one day.” Gitez said. Everyone nodded.

“Bye!” Everyone shouted at once, and Gitez waved bye too as he walked with his raptor towards his base. Dorack sighed. “This was giving me memories of ARKtic. A challenge, so fun it was terrifying. Anyway, you’re safe.” He said. Nal nodded. She, along with Dorack and Rod, got on the low level Raptor. Sodden and Serenity got on Reaper.

“Well, let’s go and figure something out.” Sodden said. The others nodded in agreement and they went off for their base.

Now a brief memory of Nal and Dorack’s time in Snowball to end the chapter…

Day 91 of ARKtic

2 days before Nal and Dorack’s escape…

The snowstorm whistled as snowflakes piled up like rain. The snow seemed endless. It had been going on for hours. Nal sat nervously in a chair, which faced a table. Nal was breathing hard, waiting for Dorack to return. Then she heard fast footfalls. The snow was being trampled through, as Dorack ran through the snow, a bag on his back and bruises on his forehead and belly, towards the snow-covered reinforced door of the cabin. Dorack burst the door open, and Nal ran from the room on the right. Dorack panted heavily as he put the bag down. “I got the supplies.” Dorack said, out of breath. “Good. What happened?” Nal asked. “I was out getting taming supplies and some drops, when a Yeti, along with two wolves, attacked me. The snowstorm started and I just ran here.” Dorack said. Then they heard banging, and Nal gasped. “Oh, no.” Nal said. “Oh, my god! 3 months and they cannot leave us alone!!” Dorack yelled. Then the window next to the door shattered, and snow whipped in like a fan pushing leaves through a door. Nal and Dorack ran up the stairs to get a weapon. The wolves that burst the wall growled as they walked in, sniffing around.

Dorack was thinking about this memory over and over. It had traumatized him and his friend. 7 months since their escape, it still hurt them emotionally. Dorack hated it. He began to growl deeply as his raptors began to walk closer to the green obelisk.

“No… I will never let these wolves corner Nal again!” Dorack whispered loudly.

This is the story of how i got my first jerboa.

It all started one day a Tuesday to be precise. I was playing ragnarok and had just murdered a dilo that was being annoying when i saw it....a precious little jerboa... i immediately checked my inventory and saw that i had berries.I rushed over to the blob of floof and fed it all of the berries i had. It tamed. I took it home on my quetzal(that took 50000 years) and ran to tell my friend we had a new member to the squad. Jack the jerboa (I callex it jack to honor jacksepticeye alright?) Was the prime member of our group. We had otters and dilos and dodos but nothing was better than jack. When times were hard jack was there to help. Only one day... it happened. Me and my buddy were about to go and tame a rex when the rex came and chomped up poor jack. Jack you only lived for around a week but...it felt like a year. I hope things are goin good now.

Frisky has been with me since day one. He went through a trike attack and far worse. From the thatch house to a metal home, he is there for me. He has risked his life to protect me from sabers, raptors, and dilos. To this day we go on adventures together. He has been from the jungles to the arctic to the wyvern trench. I will always fight alongside u until the very end.

Finally after trodding a short distance they came to the meadow. Here is where most of the wolves that lived in the area taught their offspring to hunt. There were plenty of dodos, jerboas and other prey to practice on. “Now,” began Fang who was demonstrating. “first thing you do is spot your prey.” He motioned to a jerboa. “then you crouch…” they all crouched in the brush so that they were hidden from the jerboa. “The you…. POUNCE!” Fang sprang into the air and caught the squirming little jerboa between his paws. Crimson looked at Rosie. She sat there stunned with awe of her father’s hunting tactics. “Now,” continued Fang calmly. “you finish off the prey.” In one quick motion he bit the jerboa around the neck killing it instantly. “Can I try Daddy?” Rosie asked. “Pleaaase?” She begged. “Now now Rosie.” Amy said. “I think Crimson should go first.” Rosie grunted then said in a Whitney voice: “Fine.” Crimson trotted up to his father. They searched till they found a dodo not far away. Crimson crouched, with his prey in sight then pounced! He landed on top off the Dodo claws first . “Good job Crimson.” Fang said. “Now finish it off.” Crimson took a deep breath then bared his teeth and suck them into the dodo. He could taste the blood seeping from the dodo. He let go. “I did it.” He said proudly. “Good job.” Amy said grinning. “Now it’s Rosie’s turn…”
