Tips & Strategies

What are tips for ichthyosaurus? Tips and strategies for ichthyosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
These guys are helpful but... I tried taking one and it took me 50 minutes and I had to stay there so it wouldn't touch land. Awesome once tamed. I named it MR.SIR. 1 like = 1 love for MR.SIR
To anyone who lose their tames and you can't find it.
Go to your stats (Or profile) and you'll see the tames. Click on the tames button and find your lost tame. Press it and click request and wait for a while. (For water tames BE in water otherwise they'll die.)
WARNING: ALL ITEMS IN A REQUESTED CREATURE WILL BE LOST.
Ichthyosaurus are one of the weakest water tames, but their speed makes them a great utility tame. This guide will help you acquire one yourself.
1. Locate an accessible ichthy of the desired level, if you have no water tames, go for one near shore, preferably in a mostly cut off from the ocean body of water like a bay. Taming a very low level can allow you to increase your range of accessibility because you can swim far into the ocean so it can be a good idea when going for a high level.
2. Gather food, raw meat is good enough if you cannot get better food, however I would recommend prime, or mutton because they are relatively easy to get and they will give much more taming progress and lose very little effectiveness. Kibble can also be used if you have access to it, for a perfect tame.
3. The ichthy is a passive tame, so you will need to swim up to it to start taming it. As with every passive tame, the interval between feeding it a second time is very long, so you can either wait with it, or you can do something short, it seems to be around 10 to 20 minutes. After the second feed they will be low on hunger, and so you can feed them around every 15 seconds until they are tamed or full on hunger (which has never happened to me because of how much their hunger goes down when waiting for the second feed)
4. Ichthys will naturally swim towards and follow you when you get near, which makes taming them much easier. After staying with you, eventually they will swim away, however in my experience you delay this by periodically moving and having them follow you, instead of staying still. When they do start swimming away, exit the water instead of chasing them. This will make them stop avoiding you, and will make it so if you get close to them again, they will begin following you again. It is MUCH easier to try to cut them off rather than chase them to get close again to get them to follow you.
Happy taming!
Acctually i tamed one in ark mobile and it these guys dont jump😑😑😑 but the BEST PART of the icthy when harvesting that they collect so much hide! SO MUCH HIDE THAT I CRAFTED A TRIKE SADDLE
O M G COOL TIP!(MOBILE PLAYERS)
Once you have tamed and Ichthy get a saddle, ride the ichthy and bam you see a meg does it aggro you? No. See a spino does it aggro? No. MOBILE PLAYERS GET A FREE WORLD TO THEMSELVES TO EXPLORE! With the ichthy. Beware if you get off the ichthy uhm, let’s just say if you were near an aggro to human creature it’ll attack you. Soooooo I hope you guys can officially explore your home island with the ichthy! (It works I did it)
Go to herbivore island (The island) at the right bottom. Go to map if unsure. Look around and you should find some itchyosaurus. But be careful, in the water they look like sharks, don’t mistaken them as sharks they have a pointed snout. Like if you found it helpful! :)
These are great beginner marine tames the only thing about these guys is that they have: #1 low health, #2 low weight, #3 horrible melee damage #4 in everything other than mobile they CAN agro other creatures, but just pump his stamina, weight, and movement speed and you have a super quick water tame.
I hope this was useful.
-JUST ANOTHER COMMON ARK PLAYER
Can be grabbed by the Kaprosuchus. If you're careful, you can walk around on land with the Ichthy in your grasp. If it touches the ground, it will die.
Led into shallow water. Surround with pillars to keep it from running away and feed kibble (dodo) or raw meat.
First time taking the Megalodon for a spin, thought they were aggressive when they swam up. Turns out they're just curious little guys then they'll swim away eventually.
Don't worry about the raw Prime stuff. just take 20/30 raw fish meat and feed it DONT KNOCK IT OUT YOU SICKO
I have killed so many megalodons, trikes, stegos, carbonemys, sarcos, and even theris. They are deadly things. If you can get one and get a saddle for it, then nice job, you have an oceanic friend that can easily harvest fish meat and normal meat, also keratin. Another thing is that nothing seems to agro on you while your on it, although, sometimes they fight back, other times, the creature won’t attack. For example, a therizinosaurus. Just make sure not to attack any glowing jellyfish.
RIP Iggy the itchy 😢
I now have itchyna to help me 🙂
To the person who said they don't do much damage mine just killed a whole Megalodon pack less than a minute
A Quick guide to quickly taming an itchy on mobile
1. Craft Dodo Kibble in the cooking pot(the recipe can be gotten from the fresh breakfast quest)
2. Obtain and follow the tame quest for the itchy
3. Clear the area of threats(these will mainly be mantas and megs)
4. Find an itchy using the map location from the quest
5. Feed it the kibble, this will instantly tame it
6. Complete the quest by naming it
7. Equip your new saddle to your new friend
So long as it isn’t fed raw meat, you will have a mount that is treated as neutral to all creatures, making it a good early fish meat harvesting mount.
Up if you found this tip helpful.
Their too curious for their own good. I feel bad every time im fighting underwater with a mosa and my mosa accidentally bites one to death after it swims right in between the clash.
