Tips & Strategies

What are tips for helicoprion? Tips and strategies for helicoprion in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Very easy tame, many confuzing comments here but this is The legit one. You craft The needed kibble ratfish treat in cookingpot or indi. Then you need items like pickaxes or pikes you dont need, simply just items to throw in front of The dino, when he starta to chew on The item you mount him and play The minigame. The items dont have to be high tier, everything over prim counts as The same. On official 1x you need 10 ratfish treats and 10 items when taming. Simple as that. //Kingen
They spawn everywhere that megs spawn but the megs kill them
Your welcome
You need to be level 91 to tame….so yeah that sucks 😂
They have a "micro raptor" effect where they knock you off your mount and stun you. They also shred the heck out of you
Helicoprion are organic blueprint machines
Put any loot or non-crafted gear into their inventories and there is a chance to receive blueprints of the items. On failure, there is a small chance to receive a costume skin for your Helicoprion.
Success chance for blueprint conversion can be increased by leveling up Helicoprion’s crafting skill stat. This can also be mutated to a point where you will not have to invest points to always get a blueprint.
So I was looking for hours killing all the megs I saw and couldn’t find any on the island. (Nitrado server) so I did a wipe through the app and found one within 30 seconds right off the shore of my base. IMPORTANT - do NOT tame a low level i found a level 10 and was so excited just to realize it had a 4% success rate for grinding.
Just tamed my 135 heli, here are some useful tips that could be missed by some!
1. Any non-crafted equipment or weapons work. Just use the trashy ones dropped by random megalos, but these have to be MAX DURABILITY or it won’t chew on them!
2. When you ride on these things, DO NOT RUSH to push any key during the QTE minigame. I made the mistake of rushing it, ended up pressing the wrong button, which got me killed. Take your time, and you’ll be fine!
3. The taming process will be much easier if you lure it into a enclosured zone. I lured it with my Basil into my water base with some gates circled. Just remember to do it with tames that are immune to stun, like Basilos.
That’s my tips! Good luck taming one survivors!
Kill mantis to get prim weapon/tools for feeding him
As of Today, the passive taming method has been changed up. You’re going to want to drop looted items near a heli. It has to be specifically looted, not crafted otherwise it just won’t work. While it chews on whatever you just threw out, from there it’s like the Equus, you will have to hang on and wait for it to get exhausted from thrashing around everywhere and feed it. Keep repeating this process and you’ll yourself a helicoprion in no time!
On official they dont summon sharks you just throw out a looted item that is UNDAMAGED infront then ride it do the mini game then feed its special food. I just tamed a 145 on official & it took 4 feeds to tame it cuz it got up to 98.5 at the last one. Hope this helps & happy hunting
The taming is very easy. Throw any item that you got from a drop in front or just near it. It will go towards it and eat it. When you ride it and have to press the buttons, dont rush too hard. It will only take movement keys (W,A,S,D, space) and in the end „E“ to feed. For me it was 10 inputs each time before you get the feeding option.
When you make a mistake it will attack you. And they SHRED your armor.
When breeding them the imprint bonus does not affect crafting skill as of rn. So you just have to get a good wild one.
Make sure whatever loot you drop for tame is 100% or it will not eat it!
It’s very easy to drop different type of gear in front of its face to start the mini game which is easy peasy. Don’t stress but if you can have a mate with you to clear the area it would for the best. It took me a while to realize that you can’t only drop ascendant gear , you have to mix up the type or it will ignore you ;I was sitting there throwing asc gear for it to say nope I perfer me a master craft or journeymen pike XD . Don’t mess up the mini game or you will surely get stunned and killed in a instance
Take plenty of rubbish Saddles or tools with you drop in water to get it's attention so you can ride it then the mini game starts using Dpad and A button then Y to feed at end. I just tamed a 135 it turned out a 202
Tamed a 135 with 4 ratfish treats on official on 2x rates
1. Helicoprions do NOT eat items from Drakeling chests
2. They prefer primitive quality items.
3. To get a lot of the primitive items they eat don't bother with loot drops, I stead just go around the ocean and kill random creatures. You are pretty much guaranteed to get LOADS of primitive items to feed them.
Took 5 to tame a 135 ok 2x. Ascendant gear gives better taming %. I used the regular paracer and bronto ascendant saddles from osd drops. I could get it to eat a saddle maybe 15-20 seconds after feeding it the ratfish and getting knocked off
Takes around 5-6 rat treats for a lvl 150 with ascendant gear there are invertals between feeding it the gear it is about 20 seconds after you get kicked off. Would recommend Tek chest piece to get out of water if you fail or else your most likely gonna die.
