To the people that don’t know how to trap a griffin here’s how craft at lest four to five stone gateways and a stone gate and have a fast flyer like a pterodactyl then lead the griffin in the trap place the stone gate but make sure that you place one of the stone gate before you lead the griffin in. anyway you should have the griffin trapped

The Griffin's turning radius is so big that if you position yourself correctly you can stand still and the Griffin will go in cirles around you forever.

You need to use TRANQ DARTS after the griffin nerf.

i’m a lazy guy, and i don’t usually use traps when i tame things, other than BIG things like a reaper queen or a giga, but THIS IS THE EXCEPTION. unless your dad is apollo, it is impossible to knock one of these guys out without using a trap, for my case anyway. they are ridiculously fast, and they will circle you and attack you. however, the griffin is worth the trouble. it’s one of the fastest fliers, does devastating damage compared to other fliers, other than your typical high-level argy, doesnt need a saddle to ride, can fit two people, and not to mention it looks amazing. however, it can’t pick up many things, it can only pick up smaller creatures. if you carry cryopods around with you though, this shouldn’t be a problem. -J

Just a tip, don't let your careless and cocky tribemates ride it in the first 5 minutes of it being tamed

You CAN tame them with a crossbow.

Wait 5-7 seconds between shots and there is no way you will kill it. Torpor raises over time, arrows/darts are not instant.

You do not "have to have" tanq darts.

There I was, staring into the face of death. I pointed my mighty crossbow at the beast head. And was eaten by a saber tooth. Make sure you clear out the area before taking the griffin on.

You do not need a saddle for griffins

If I wanted to tame a mobile (royal) Griffin I would go there

Wanna get Wyvern eggs? Use one of these with a whip and you'll get so many eggs you'll end up with so many omelettes that you don't know what to do with them

They can fly through open stone dino gates so build a taming pin with that in mind to make it easier to tame otherwise you will be chasing it down alot.

As fun as they are to ride, I think they should have the same carrying capacity as an argentevis

If you have managed to tame this fierce beast, please know that it has an amazing ability. If you are flying high in the sky, and you spot something you want to kill on the ground, then crank your griffin to FULL SPEED and fly directly down towards your target. Do not stop whatsoever, and you will smash into your target with a shocking blast. The power and force is enough to kill. Though it has massive strength, the griffin can only pick up small animals in its claws. To make up for that, the griffin can also ride updrafts and gain tremendous speed. Use this power wisely.

General Argentavis taming pens will work, it is a knockout game that is not narcotic heavy. Will require quite a lot of tranqs. Have fun taming it everyone!

While diving pull up at the last second above your target and use main left click attack. Does a ton more dmg then just landing on target. Gives a nice speed boost too.
